Gday everyone I am new to the forum but have had 1 maybe 2 near misses with Yowies in the past few years when spinning for trout. The one I am not sure about happened on the Tanjil river (Gippsland) a couple of years ago while wading. I was by myself and had been fishing above the junction of the east and west branches when after about an hour or so I knew something was watching me, instantly thought wild dog and started to get a bit shaky
as 1 person with a graphite pro caster is no match for a pack of dogs. I then smelt something quite nasty worse than any AGB (after grog bog) Ive ever done!! And I put it down to wet dog
and got out of the river walked extremely fast back to the wagon and drove home.
My question is how bad does a Yowie stink and what do they smell like????.............LOG.

Re: Stench
They generally smell like a mixture of rotten eggs, wet dog, and sulfur. Sometimes people who have had encounters have mentioned no smell, other times people have mentioned a smell so bad they've gagged.
..people don't tend to notice him standing there in the last frames..

Hey log
Great to hear your Gippsland story. It's exciting to hear of more possible yowie activity in Victoria. Did you know that there have been other sightings and encounters in Gippsland? I'm thinking of the Noojee area, and the researchers here on this forum have told me of reports around Walhalla, Aberfeldy, Rawson and the Thomsons Dam area. You can read the Noojee report on this website in the section for Victoria. Others have also found interesting prints and tree damage in that area. If you go back to posts over the last couple of months on the subject of Noojee you can follow our chats about it if you're interested.
Cheers,
Jezebel
