Muntapa Tunnel Cooyar

Unread post by JOURNEYMAN »

G'day Guys,

The sighting in 2007 at Muntapa tunnel really intrigues me...

My family and I have been up there a number of times over the years (we live not far from the location) to visit the bat sanctuary but one time stands out in my memory from other visits.

The last time we visited was about 8 years ago, during school hols, my Father and three kids in tow. We did the "cave" walk-through, checked out the bats, then started to head back up to where the car was parked (the tunnel is in a bit of a cutting, you have to walk up to get back to where the car-park is).

I got this feeling that we were being watched (some of the other times I've felt this way has shown something or someone observing me) , the others didnt seem to notice anything, but I just wanted to get the tribe up and out to the safety of the car.

Really weird, been there numerous times, and yes the bat tunnel is an "odd" place, but we mostly comment on the stink of the droppings and the sound more than anything. Wouldnt go back through there again mind you because of the disease risk that has been linked to bats!

Anyway I might investigate the area further when I get a spare bit of time, its hilly, very heavy cover (for up here anyway), about the only thing I'd wonder about is natural water supply?

I never imagined that the Yowie would be found this far inland....

Cheers,

Rob.
