Hi All
I was just wondering how elaborate Yowie habitations get.
Do they just make rough nests or have they been known to create more elaborate structures, ie lean to, humpy etc?
Another question:
How common is it to hear vocalisations, ie "Woomps" etc in the bush?
Are they something that is reported often?
Does AYR consider reports of Yowie vocalisations important?

If you look through the expeditions & reports, there are some pics of what look like a lean to propped up against a tree. So, they know what they're doing.
As for the "whoomps", I think it's safe to say it's a common thing, you'd probably have more chance of hearing that then seeing one. Personally, I think it's either
a) a mating call
b) some kind of warning, ie: "bugger off, this spot is mine"
c) maybe they just like to whoomp alot?

When I walk through the bush you know where i am because you can hear me saying 's##T....S##T .....S##T'!!! Whoomp is yowie for S##T!!!LOL!!!

The reason for my query was a recent outing on Sunday 24th of April.
I took the family up to Bunyip State park for a bushwalk/picnic. We stopped at Mortimer picnic ground for a feed around midday.
Then we drove further into the park, to the Camphora picnic/camping ground. We went for a five km bush walk and returned to the picnic ground later in the after-noon. Anyway, just east of the picnic ground along a rough track we found a lean-to/humpy like structure. Probably made by kids, it didn't look very recent. However the grass underneith it was pressed flat and quite recently so. As there were no other kids in the area, I can only assume the grass was pressed flat by an animal.
Later in the afternoon, towards dusk, my eldest daughter told me she had heard some "whoomps". She said they sounded the same as the vocalisations I have on my pc. They were faint and south of our location, towards the "Button grass nature trail". One of the areas we had been walking through during the afternoon.
My eldest daughter is only eleven, she may have been mistaken and I unfortunately did not hear the "whoomps"
