Yagen Monster

Gday All,

Was wondering if anyone has done any study in the Yagen Area. North Coast Nsw.
Was reading Mark Warrens "'Atlas of surfing Australia"' and came across a paragraph highlighting the Yagen Monster which is meant to walk the dune area of a night time.
On a recent surfing trip i went to Yagen and as the surf was flat i left the missus sun baking and took off up into the massive dune system to look for signs.
Anyone familiar with this area would know it is surrounded by alot of National Park.
I walked a real long way heading south and found human footprints and dingoe tracks.
As the kms went by all signs of humam tracks were long gone and i came across some real large tree breaks(at the back of the dunes where it hits the bush) that were way to high for a person to break and way to thick to break. There would have been half a dozen trees that were damaged. Makes me think??? Whats done this?wasn't a storm cause the trees immediately next to them were fine. Was not a person because you physically couldnt reach or be strong enough.
Personally guys i have never seen a yowie but have done a few expeditions on my own to various parts of dense bushland 'looking'' for signs. And you find them. I work as a bushland regenerator and have some great sites in national parks. Fingers crossed i see something one day.

Hey ryno, I'm from the central coast also.
I have been to big gibber fishing and surfing with mates a few times, great spot.( same area/ bush)
I have heard of the yagon yowie, my workmates told me about it before I even knew what they were (+4 years ago). One workmate tells me he saw what he thinks was a tall bipedal figure lean back into the bush as he was driving into seal rocks some 8 years ago.

Any pics of these tree breaks you have been finding? I have 3 weeks off over Chrissy, id be keen to look/bushwalk if your interested, pm me.

Thanks for the response mate. It sure is a nice spot.
I didnt take my camera with me as i have always sat on the fence in regards to believing about Yowies or not. After seeing these tree breaks though, it has changed my opinion substantially. Lesson learnt. Take the camera.

I have no time off over xmas mate so i wish you luck in your hunting. Keep me updated if you find anything local. I will do the same.

Really enjoying going through these old threads, some interesting stuff. As for the Yagon Yowie, its certainly prime habitat around those parts. I've stayed at Treachery camp before, a great spot but busy over the warmer months..
I'm actually surprised there are no recorded Yowie encounters around the Myall lakes area, it has that feel about it..
