A bit confused
G'day everyone,
I'm writing this to try and find some answers to some strange things which my wife is experiencing.
A couple of Nights a week she wakes up and can feel "something or somebody" sitting on the end of our bed. Sometimes she wakes and can see a dark shape standing at the end of the bed . She has woken up to the sensation of being poked and touched( and no it's not me!!!).
This morning she woke and had a fleeting glimpse of an old lady standing over her.
My wife and I are trying to figure out if it's her imagining this in a half dream like state or if there is more to it.
We are not really scared by this but it's a bit odd. She can experience this in other houses at night aswell.
We have had a bad experience with some force whilst on holidays about 10 years ago which resulted in us having to vacate a holiday home. I feel that she is more prone to experiencing these type of things.
Any way, thanks for reading and any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ryno

Re: A bit confused
its a sleep paralysis. reports of it for thousands of years of the old lady and other similar things like that, especially the pressure on the chest and someone at the end of the bed.

Hey Ryno,
Does the missus get any sort of 'feeling' from what she sees? Good/ill/benign intentions?
Bit of reading on old hag syndrome here:

Textbook sleep paralysis. It's quite common. Had it myself.
Once you recognize it for what it is, namely a construct of the mind, it's terror will significantly lessen.

Thanks for the insight everyone. I really appreciate it.
I sat down with my wife and we researched the theory of sleep paralysis and can honestly say that she experiences every one of these symptoms. It's given her a bit of peace of mind knowing that there is an explanation for her bizzare sleeping episodes.
Forest guy, when she sees these things the only feeling she is experiencing is terror.
Once again thank you,
Ryno

Yes. If you dream, it can happen.

Re: A bit confused
Thanks for that
going to watch my sons sleep patterns, he's been weird of late just when he gets to a deep sleep wakes up terrified. It's not all the time, very random, but frequent enough to be odd, our kids are great sleepers. It's hard cause he's only two, when I go in after he wakes up he's pointing to the end of the bed. Screaming. I thought he maybe getting a visit from relatives passed. It may also be bad dreams, but he seems to point out there's something there in his room.
Cheers

Re: A bit confused
sleep patterns can change when there are paranormal beings present. 2 yrs ago on a holiday the unit we were staying in was haunted.we heard feet dragging along the hallway which was carpet.some old guys voice yelling out for pamela also the kitchen cupboard doors slamming a bit at night.one of my twin boys aged 10 at the time had bad time sleeping up there, took around 3 months later to settle down.found out later the units use to be for old retired people, maybe some died there.very weird.

Hi Ryno, Just wondering if your wife has had further experiences since you posted this comment. To me this is definitely paranormal activity. I can relate to a case my brother and his wife experienced some time ago: They had gone to bed and about 2.00a.m. and were awoken by something jumping onto their bed and raking the sheets like a cat would do with it's claws. My brother said to his wife ''did you feel that"? she said that she had. ( I must add that my brother would ridicule the notion of the supernatural or paranormal activity). The following night it happened again so due to the fact that they never had a cat she decided to tell my mother.
My mother was a devout Christian, my brother and his wife not so. My sister in law had an empathy for witches and had one sitting on a broomstick with a black cat on the end of the broom hanging from the ceiling like a mobile. My mother told them to get rid of it and from there on all activities stopped. The paranormal does exist and far too many people are all to ready to pass it off as some other explanantion. I hope your wife's paranormal experience has stopped.
