Did you find anything of interest in the cave/lair?
Any hair? Animal bones? Anything at all?

Do Yowies normally make small rock piles?
I've not heard of that before.

The only thing we found in the lair was an eviction notice and a demand for backrent.

It was pretty bare except for a rocky floor. It looked like a flintstone house with a big bay window. It was bigger than some units in Sydney but withmuch better views.

I've sent Dean some stills taken of DV of the cave. He might put them up if they're good enough.

We found plenty of other disused lair type condos down in the deep gully.

Typical breaks we were finding along this track. In almost all cases, the foliage was not just snapped, but also twisted. Common trait.

I love exploring caves. Sounds like you guys had fun.

Is there a lot of caves in that area?
Any idea how many?

Perhaps there might be some around that are inhabited. Might be worth a detailed look on another occasion.

Find one that's inhabited and spend the night in an abandoned cave that's nearby. You never know what might come a knocking.

One thing you may have or have not noticed with rock tower is at the top of the left hand corner were all these sticks laid parallel to each other.

I have no idea if that's a separate marker manmade or otherwise.

The depth of field is a puts it a little closer to the marker than it actually is.

You really put me in it. I hope that the lady I saw isn't a member of this board. Yes, as I rounded a corner to bring in extra water I had a Sienfeld moment.

I happened across a lady dropping her strides in complete confidence she was alone.

I spun on my heels to avoid an awkward encounter... but as I have said before. It takes two to have an encounter whether both parties are aware of it or not.

I hung back for what I thought was the decent amount of time and then caught up with her and her husband. They look surprised and a little relieved (every pun intended) thinking wow...that was close. If only they knew... I think the hubby was waiting down the track thinking he was keeping a look-out for her.

He didn't count on two parched Yowie Hunters further up the track. Nice one Dean

Umm... yes Steve my night shots are bad. Did you notice I wear glasses?

Which were no help what-so-ever when Dean decided to run 1.5 ks back up a track to get fresh batteries on the first night.

I don't which was scarier... him running off by himself or me alone in the bush by myself. He did leave be his bat to tap out messages on trees to the locals.

To be honest Steve, I am kicking myself I didn't take more pictures. Next time I will have an entourage.

Btw Buck, I don't see much at all if anything wrong with any of the photos you took, you've done a great job.[/quote]=steven buck ive got to admitt thhey are nice shots there im proud of you and next time dean leaves you alone with all those lady yowies out there looking for boyfriends , while dean goes back for something , take one of those exenon strobe flash kits with you you get them from diskmiths in a kit set it for slow or fast bright white flashes , slow to save on battery power and dean will be able to spot you a long distance away in the dark and the bright flashers will keep those yowie hookers at bay

Im amazed some people ther than me are interested in Tableland Road. I live in Blaxland which is a good 40 minutes from Wentworth Falls. I used to live in Linden and Springwood and even though i am 14 i have had 3 visits up to the asylum.

I am boosting up a site about the asylum and i am going up for photos very soon. Yowies in the area i have heard of but i have never actually seen one. My visits up there with my dad and his mate were great ones letting of fireworks and 4 wheel driving. The road going down isn't ll that great but some ok scenery and bodies of cars here and there.

One incident, though, was at the right side of the asylum. While I went out to the gate to see what was inside, a light had turned on about 40metres up the drive way. This wasnt the residence of the opposite of the asylum because this was IN the asylum. Maybe a security light?

I must say but, the road going up is FREAK. Trees overgrowing the road and it goes ofr a great 6-10 km. Im not sure of the actual name it's something like Princess Elizabeth Memorial Hospital (not 100% accurate) it's somethign along the lines of it. All shall be revealed when I take my 4th visit!

Coming from the Wollongong area i have never heard of Tableland Road.
Can you get into the Asylum??Would be good to go ghost hunting one night??

Not to put you off or anything but the last group of people to go venturing to the old hospital got pulled up by the cops and where charge with trespassing. The place is surrounded by a fence 7 foot fence.

By the way does anybody know if it was an old mental asylum or was it just a regular hospital?

The site was formally known as the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospitol and has since been a nursing home/aged care facility. A friend of mine worked there back in the late 80's and I have been out that road many a time before I moved to QLD.

Interesting photo's on Tablelands Road. Not only does it show how vast the forest is and the proximity to the sheer drop deep into the valley, but more importantly the close proximity to Lake Burragorang, which in my eyes would most certainly be a place of interest. In fact the valley leading from the lake to the left of picture looks more than interesting.

The area is on my hot list of places to go visit when I get the chance, Lake Burragorang would be a prime spot methinks any surrounding off creeks as well.

There is also a spot not far from the jenolan caves here at a Kanangra walls lookout that looks promising the area is right smack bang in the middle of nowhere:
