Yowie hunting vehicles

I would be interested to know if other than a typical 4x4 to get to the starts of tracks if anyone has looked into an off road, light penetration support vehicle with FLIR equipment, sub human sonic recording equipment and camoflaged armour to observe and possibly lure yowies. I.e. loud speaker to play calls also, flood lights and firearms for self defence if required. I'm not a fan of first hand encounters without protection personally. I won't even go into the bush anymore.

dean has gotten a off road buggy to head around, flirs cost an arm and a leg but are worth it if your really into spotting the yowie.

best bet would be on foot though, less noise you can make the better i think or even a mountain bike for firetrails i know walking and hiking mountain bike sometimes sneek up on me.

I was thinking more as a support vehicle with long range capabilities.

I only have a short wheel base and you would be amazed at the places that gets me.I dont follow what you mean by light penertration vehicle as I will take my 4 b just about anywheir.I will make tracks if i have to.Just on our trip to Jimna I drove thru a tree that had fallen over a creek crossing and was blocking our path /Not over Thru.
As for Loud speakers playing sound it was discused the other night that on our next night visit to Jimna we will be taking some recordings of vocalizations out with us and playing thru the cd player which is hooked up to a sub.
I am planning on maybe playing sound for a couple off minutes than sit and listen.
As for spot lights I carry my in my hand it is called a led lensor x21 all the light you need.
As for listening well thats what the parabolic mic is for .
Camo gear comes in the shape off a ghillie suit. As for seeing that is what the nightvision is for.

I use a mountain bike to get in deep.
A Day pack and a machette.
Camo, don't bother with as they know you are there regardless how good you wear a Gillie suit or remain downwind.

I was referring to light penetration as in not just ploughing straight into thick scrub. I know all the tools that would be used but what about combining them into a purpose built vehicle for use along tree lines and clearings in conjunction with mobile devices to triangulate and create a dragnet and have a reinforced base of operations?

I'm currently doing my a hilux up. Along with extra battery's, long range fuel tanks, winch, extra power points, canopy with a set up inside. Bed, night Vision, cams, monitor, parabolic mic on a swivel, few other little toys to match. Then standard 4x4 stuff spotties etc. Still have room for the kato. Love to have a net launcher, I guess I'll have to move the Gatling gun. Remote and radio controlled toy ideas have been thrown around too.

Hi Bud,

i have an ex ADF 4x4 ambulance that I'm setting up at present. I intend to use it as a mobile recording and observation post. I have the recording gear, haven't decided yet what to fit in the way of cameras etc. It should allow me to perform extended periods of observation. It is pretty capable off road but the size will limit areas that i can get to.

I'm working on a 6x6 hybrid amphibious buggy.

I'm a couple of years off small scale production, and using todays technology it will have a range on battery of less than 50 km top speed of 25kph, will cost you $60k and will weigh about 450kg.

The easy road would have been to electrify a Suzuki Sierra, chuck in a small gen set to keep it moving, but I'm all about the experiment.
