There is story in the couriermail which talks about an asteroid hitting earth which led to a map being released of every meteor strike in Australia since records have been kept.

Now the interesting question here is given how UFO activity has been reported over the nullabor, why does this region have the highest incidents of meteor impacts? or are they actually UFO's? I thought this is very interesting - have a look

Well, I don't think the meteors could be UFOs, but what do I know? The map of all the recorded meteor strikes in Australia was very interesting. I just don't see how the meteors could have anything to do with UFOs.

There is a class of UFO that is very similar to meteors. They are called 'Green Fireballs' and I've seen one over Sydney a few years ago. Here's a link which covers all aspects of a comprehensive study on the phenomenon.

Have heard of several cases of fire balls (both green and yellow) over the Emu Plains area of Western Sydney. What do you make of them, are they some type of drone / surveillance vehicle / probe.

This is an image similar to what I saw and it's so odd that you mention Emu Plains as this is close to the area
it was flying over

Up until recently I did think it was a drone of some kind due to the disposable characteristics it displayed, although my opinion changed after watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qng_-1t07ZI showing one leaving our atmosphere.

Just for the record, this is what I observed;

I was at a lookout called Moon Rise located near Horsley Park at around 11pm sometime in'99. Myself and a friend were looking west and we noticed a big green object flying from south to north at a fairly slow speed at a fixed altitude for approximately 1.5 minutes. It was an amber ball of light with a pulsating green electronic field around it about the size of a full moon. At first I thought it was a green mist, but the field was the same distance ahead of it as it was behind it. If it was vapor, it would have had a tail and this did not. It had no lights or beacons that you would expect to see on an aircraft.
As it proceeded north and I could watch it more from behind I thought it was falling apart as a red object of around 10% of the Green Fireballs size detached or broke away from below it and starting orbiting around it 3 or 4 times. It's orbit was slightly further away with each revolution and then I lost track of it in some clouds. Then the Green Fireball appeared to break up as it flew into a storm front and it was gone.

What-ever it was, people have been seeing the exact same thing for over 60 years and it's technology has not changed...which is why I think it's not us. If it was imitating a meteor, even to the point of acting as though it was breaking up, you would have to ask why? Maybe it would fool someone a few hundred years ago, but not in modern times.

It would have flown near the RAAF base at Glenbrook all the way over to near the RAAF base at Richmond, which
is similar to reports in the states of being seen around sensitive military installations. For days and weeks after I was waiting for something to be on the news or the internet, but nothing was reported.

Would love to have the gear to set up obervations over the area near Glenbrook and Richmond. The Blue Mountains is no stranger to, among other things, UFO sightings.

It's a map of found meteors, not strikes.

More of them are found in the nullarbor because of the climate. Low rainfall and rocky desert means they don't get buried or eroded as fast. Meteorite hunters actively seek these areas for these reasons which is also why there is an apparent concentration in that area.

Over a long enough time scale any point on the earth is just as likely to be hit as any other.
