Living rough in the bush

Noticed this interesting article with great pictures today about a 31 y.o. lady named Claire Dunn who left the comforts of home and went to live in remote NSW bushland.

Forum readers here will no doubt be wondering if she ever heard or saw things she couldn't readily explain... Be good to ask that question.

Wow wouldn't it be awesome if you could just slip away from society and do that. I was going to move out to my property and build a house and try and live off grid a while back. No good if your a family man though.

It's interesting how she mentioned the pack of wild dogs. You don't get too many stories about people being attacked by wild dogs. I've been out in the wollami national park with my brother and just on dusk we heard dogs howling all around us. We didn't see them but they were there and close.

I was bush walking in Blaxland in the blue mountains with my brother in law behind his house. We came across a cave with a bed made of sticks, there was was a mirror and some deodorant, some other odds and ends. Somebody had been living in the cave.

We were talking to his neighbour about it and he told us that a lady lived in the cave. Apparently she had a sister that lived in blaxland. He said you used to see her every now and then at the shops or walking down the road and into the bush with shopping bags.

The cave isn't very far from houses.

Halfway creek , just down the road from my farm I never recall the locals speak of this little experiment but it must have been carried out in a remote area , lots of wild country around these parts including on my own property .
I find that the scribbly gum country is poor and that you just don't get the feeling there but when in the better spotted gum areas it feels more active and evidence of tree bites and prints around water holes can readily be found . It would be good to hear of her additional recollections .

Thats a gutsy move.
Not sure how I would handle that length of time in the bush. Nevermind the hairy man, just looking out for spiders and snakes is enough to keep me awake at night.
