The Blue Mountains decapitation

Unread post by Beastman »

I've quite often seen this incident referenced on this board - it was a case where a bushwalker was allegedly decapitated in the Blue Mountains, with the coroner supposedly finding it was done by human hands.
Can anyone who knows about this please post primary documents - preferably the coroner's report. I have seen a newspaper report about the finding of the body (in 1998 I think) but I'd like to see more.
Thanks.

I was speaking with the Police Sgt. who was investigating the murder only a week after the guy was found. Happened in 98'.

There were actually two within a week apart.

One he said was probably Bikie related because the man was "known" to Police, but the other he said, in the eyes of the investigators - was being viewed as Yowie. He said 'he' wasn't totally convinced, but added the rest of the Police were.

He then became rather nervous and stated that he had told me too much and wouldn't comment any further.

HEADLINE: NSW: Post mortem on headless body inconclusive

BODY:
SYDNEY, Nov 16 AAP - A post mortem conducted today on a headless body found in a Blue Mountains creek yesterday failed to confirm a cause of death.

Police said the results were inconclusive and further tests would be carried out on the body which was discovered in a secluded creek in Leura, west of Sydney.

A spokeswoman said the post mortem indicated the body was that of a man was aged between 40 and 50 years, was about 165cm tall, with brown hair. He had a silver medical disc on his right wrist.

G'day,
From what I've been told, the supposed decapitation occurred in the Warrimoo area, near the fire station there.
I actually live just across the valley from this spot!

The decapitation in Leura was a murder by man, a man murdered his neighbor over a tree. He was convicted.

I documented a fair amount of historical research looking into and mapping weird bush decapitations and mutilations reported around Australia from the 1800's to the 1950's. That research was triggered by the shear number of modern accounts sharing eerily similar circumstances. I filtered out and eliminated as many cases of mans inhumanity to man as I could determine, based on the very limited police and media follow ups in the public domain at the time I posted it all.

Both the modern era full reports and historical report are here in detail...
