Went bushwalking--never again--whats out there?

Unread post by adventurer »

Hi everyone, i am completely new to this forum. I do keep a open mind to things but really--yowies um not really.Until i went bushwalking, when i got home i googled stuff and found you guys. Please help me understand whats going on out there, cant stop thinking about it.
I am a k9 night shift security guard, i am a 42 year old female and not scared of much, snakes yes.
Okay it started when a friend of mine rang and asked me to go out bush walking, he said yowie watching--i laughed at him, but enjoyed bush walking so i went. There were 3 of us. 2 guys and myself. The first time was 3 weeks ago, we went to the daugilar national park(north bribane) went past a place called the gantry and ended up at a 1.1 km walkway through the forest.Guessing we were about 1/2 way when we crossed a small walkway bridge around 9.30 pm and came across a dry riverbank, there were 3 stacks of rocks.Richard said they were yowie stacks--i said yeah right, humans who walk that path in the day have made them, but then noticed wind could easily just knock them down, and at this hour they were still standing. A weird clack sound(now i know its knocking) sound was around us in 3 areas. I got the chills, knew it wasnt owls and asked to leave which we did, thats all we heard and saw. I got home thinking richard had set me and josh up for some hoax.

But then we went 2 nights ago 10.30 ish, sat night back to the same place, no way could richard have set this up.. did the same walk, went down to see if the stacks had fallen, omg, there were 15 with the old 3. I said to richard i bet there glued, he touched 1 with a stick and the hole thing fell, we both put it back up, it was time consuming, josh was taking pics.then the knocking around came from around us everywhere, i mean everywhere, very loud and richard heard some kind of howl. we all left heading back out on the trail to leave(I realized i left my drink behind at the stack) i wasnt going back. As we walked to very small rocks were thrown at josh, we stopped, they wernt from the river bed, these were round, sharp. Then more kept coming(huge rocks) from different directions, from front, left, right behind and above, we ran, josh in front and rich behind, they were smashing around us into the trees next to us, we ran 1/2 km back to the car and left. Never again, have pics.please what is it.

Hi, it aint fun-let me tell you. But am happy to show anyone where we went. I wont be staying though. I cant believe people are looking for whatever--it/ they find you. Go out sat night--100% positive the rocks will get thrown, down right scary and dangerous. Drug runners could not have kept up with us in that thick bush. So confused. I do want to go out with cameras on and a gun but still to scared. Getting richard over to help me with getting the pics on here. Really not computer literate enough, will post them asap. Worth the trip, if u go out bring a voice recorder too. Do you think people would take the hours of work to stack these things? And the noises--wholly c**p--u gotto go.

They mustve given you all a good scare whatever it was! Im sure they couldve harmed you if they wanted to and wanted you out of that area if it was the hairy men.

Those thrown rocks were a bit close for comfort by the sounds of things.

It may sound nuts but thats the sort of thing that yowie hunters/investigators are hoping for other than an encounter or sighting. I thought they were mad too but i get it now and keen to have a look myself.

Seems its the poor buggers on innocent bushwalks or camping that cop the worst of it! Im sure those pics would be much appreciated on here.

Thete is some rock and stick structures in photo section and more on some of the threads if you want to compare. Seems ridiculous but lots of people believe they make these things!

The 15 rock stacks does sound suspect. Maybe you and your freinds got set up by some rock throwing nutcases. Bet if you went out there with the police no rocks would be thrown.

Hi.yep 15 is astounding-should have seen my face when I saw them.I am a guard and work with police nightly if I even thought one little bit they were drugged f idiots I'd be back with my k 9. They couldn't have sat in the bush all night hoping someone could walk through and not be seen or out run us.I hope u r right though.

Adventurer,

Taking a K9 with you next time might not be a bad idea, it would be interesting to see the reaction of a dog in that situation.

Sorry if i sound skeptical Adventurer . Dont listen to me.All i know of the rock stacks is what ive seen on here and in books.

Theres like 1800 members on this forum alone and other crypto forums and youtube sites. Surely at least a few lurkers out there are faking some of these rock and stick structures and checking to see if their work is featured in one of the online reports.

If they are Yowies out there your dog will probably go ballistic and freak out if you believe the reports. Good luck if you go out again. I hope you have a safe night!

Hi, thats okay. I understand what your saying. I am not saying it is the yowie, buy do want to know what it is out there. If people are setting this up thats fine but how are they throwing large rocks in the dark keeping up with us through thick bush with no torches? I understand any one can build these stacks but they are still standing --how. You are right the dog will scare me and god forbid if it is a yowie ill probably have a dead dog---thats when i would hunt the dam thing down, with my life! Will consider whether to bring the dog or not. I have 2 offers of people wanting to come out so hopefully ill get there perspective on it all. Hope they do realize its easy to get in but not get out. thanks for your input, i have all this in my mind.

Definitely sounds like yowies to me.....only other explanation could be your companion set it up.No way it would be random idiots hoping someone just turned up in the scrub in the dead of night unless is near a camping ground.

Hi adventurer. I know you will take excellent care of your very special dog. If you haven't done so already, suggest you read through millstoneridge's thread where she details the loss of her two German Shepherds.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Good luck with your search and thanks for posting.

I think if theyd wanted to hurt you or worse then they would have done so easily. Doubt they'd be clacking rocks together to alert you of their presence if you and your freinds were on the menu.

If theyre the hairy men up there then it's obvious they dont want anyone in that area and were escorting you out of there.

Maybe plugging humans with huge rocks is a fun night out for them. Id be taking a stack hat if i were you!

Hi all, just a catch up, went out today in the daylight to try refind the rocks that were thrown to see if any were left on the path and to see if the rock stacks were still there. But first i have to let u know in the daylight we were walking on small rocks on the path. At night i thought it was dirt and leaves. Anyway walked in fine, got down to the bank, there was only 1 existing rock stack there(the 1 rick and i put back up) but this time it was properly re-stacked again. Along with this original one there were 20 new ones, YES 20. 17 on the left and 3 on the right. And my drink was no where to be seen. I took many many pics of these, so will post a few here. I went out with rick again and a friend from work Tye. Felt uneasy still--probably in my mind from the last time i was here. Some of the stacks were still wet too.

Sat night 9;30ish Well to start i will say i was a lot calmer. 10-15 rocks got thrown, 1 came across 2 boys, the others crashed down from good heights, thumping on the ground (didnt skip). So richard, josh and myself went along with 3 new people. 1 was a workmate Tye, and his brother in law Matt who is in the army and a Ron who is on this site. Walked in, extremely quiet again, came across the stacks, the only change was the pic 026 shown here had the little rock missing from the top. I sat a meausli bar on top lol. But very dissapointed when no knocking came--felt like i had wasted these peoples time especially matt who is a skeptic. We all stood in the dark for some time, still no noises, so decided to continue along the path(not back toward the same way we came in)This path went like a circle still back to the car.I of course went in the middle lol. Rick first, josh, ron, me, tye then matt last.As we walked the rocks started but never got thrown at anyone.1 past between tye and matt and the others had dropped from the sky???We all walked in a line abot 12 metres from rick to matt. Then to the left next to the trail were large foot prints that went for some time, 1600-1700 spread. everyone agreed the closest rock thrown was aprox 3 meters and furthest about 20 meters. Wasnt much angry activity we guessed only 2 throwers this time. The other 3 said they had no doubt in there minds they were 100% rocks and 100% no people anywhere.Got all noises on go pro that ron had, josh had audio. All 3 were anxious to go back and the skeptic is no longer. All want to go back with better supplies like measure tape and stuff to mould feet. Tye wants to see next time what happens if he throws the rocks back. All are keen to go back, and we all were on edge. I thank god nothing was thrown at us but in a way it was a pity they didnt get the real deal like last time. Never the less they were all shocked. They want to go back in a few weeks but im thinking maybe we need to leave them(yowie) alone. What do you all think.

Very interesting night I was taken aback about the amount of rock stacks created. I managed to capture the sounds of the rock throwing on the go pro and picked up the print impressions that had a very large stride between prints. There is no way anyone could have been setting us up as we were miles from anywhere and there is only one way in. I would give it a few weeks and would maybe go back in daylight hrs for another look.
Thanks again Adventurer for allowing me to come out with your group.

Hi Adventurer. I was wondering how you all went on sat. Partly wishing i had gone and partly thinking you were all nuts for going back in the first place.

Since you asked, If you think they're yowies up there then in my opinion ypu should leave them alone at night. Its obvious they dont want you there and could be breeding or have young up there. I doubt you would bother any other endangered animal that didnt want you there and yowie is no different.

The other reason is theyre the top dog predators in australia and are not to be messed with. They have the capacity to literally tear you limb from limb and are insanely fast for their massive size. I know they sound wacky with the stick and rock structures etc but are intelligent and have the physical tools to be very dangeroius if need be.

I doubt anyone would be even going there during the day if there were mountain gorillas up there and a large yowie is larger and just as dangerous as them. This is all my opinion of course and in saying that i will be going to have a look myself one day but not at night.

It could also be the smaller yowies up there that are knowm for stirring humans and are reported closer to brisbane. Also i dont think it would be a good idea for your freind to engage them in a rock fight. Its all good fun till someone loses an eye ss they say.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Sure is a lot of lurkers checking your thread. I reckon you will have a thousand by tommorow night!

Well said, YB... excellent points every one.
Don't throw rocks back at them, nor take a piss... literally... be respectful of their turf, if you run into one, don't show your teeth by trying to smile at it.

I sounds like you were not far from the campground... Were there any campers in the campground?
Bet they're getting into the rubbish after every weekend.

This D'Aguilar NP seems like the place to visit (with care). I located it on Google Earth, and hey, it's practically on Brisbane's backdoor!
