Hi adventurer, love reading your updates. Its hard to work out patterns of behaviour with them but obviously you've come across a popular yowie hangout.Great rockstack pics.

I have only been looking into the Yowies for about 10 months but already some patterns, similarities and differences are starting to emerge.

Due to the much larger body of material in the USA/Canada, it is probably too tempting to make comparisons with bigfoot behaviour and expect the Yowie to do the same.

I don't have any certainties , just suspicions at this point.

Bigfoot seems to build a lot more than the Yowie. Structures are larger and more frequent, although the basic methodology is similar.
Both Yowie and bigfoot can exhibit seasonal behaviour and here I have a couple of questions.

Altitude and Geographical Area:
Does the Yowie spend a lot more time at lower altitudes in winter (valleys) because it is warmer and more time at higher altitudes in summer because it is cooler?
- I noticed the activity in Dee's area was pretty hot while it was cold but as soon as it warmed up it seemed to slowly diminish.
Does the Yowie migrate from one patch of woodland to another to allow the recovery of food stocks and if so, how often?

Has anyone done a cross-check between sightings and time-of-year? Perhaps there is something interesting to note there.
Sightings do seem to come in definite time intervals whether it be a period of months or years, in some places activity does not seem to be constant.

Keep up with the feeding though Dee, even if they are staying higher up, they still need to come down for water and probably can't resist a snack.

Hi Trevor I have noticed in the yowie file book that around sept to oct between 3pm and 7pm seem to be the peak period for sightings with October being the highest rate for reports.

Thanks Lozza.
Hey Ron, The yowie book does state this is the month there seen a lot. Thanks for letting me have a read, hope you really enjoy your pic next to the rock stack lol.
Trevor, yeah love to keep feeding but its $80 fuel between ron and i to go there constantly. I think we would have to go back the day after to check on the fruit all the time. Be worth it if the action kept up.
Heres the pics of the honey jar, placed full with lid screwed and 2nd pic what we found.

Yeah I doubt a possum could get that lid off, eat the honey and then put it back in the cavity without getting it all over the place.

Would have been nice to have a secret camera monitoring that honey jar.

Yes, I know 'they 'don't like to have photos taken... but I'm not giving up!

I have watched possums eat apples showing almost human hand like dexterity with their paws. They have also been known to lift roof tiles to gain access to the space beneath.
They can be clever little blighters, but I don't think they could work out how to unscrew a jar lid.

Mind you, the remarkably clever octopus has no trouble with such a simple task... www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocWF6d0nelY

Hi Trevor. That was Chris that made that observation. I couldnt help but think it could be the little yowies out there unscrewing the honey jar? Just a thought.

To screw that lid off would take some ability - I can't imagine anything but a human or ***** could pull off such a feat. The question is - how tight was the lid on? If it was loose then maybe something might of manipulated it off - but if it was completely sealed - thats a different story.

Hi, the lid was screwed on 1/2 a turn so some aroma may get out. It was on enough so i could still hold the lid, walk with it and place it at the tree without the jar dropping out. It was not dead tight. Ron and i have had another one placed out there since with the lid tight. With work neither of us have been out since to pick it up yet. Not sure when we can go back out yet., but hoping for fingerprints on it.
If the lid is off again, i too dont know what animal could possibly get it off.
Really dont think there are "Little ones" out there as we now have seen large footprints on 2 occasions.
I am hoping too when we go pick up the jar we hear the vocals again so i can record the grunting sounds.Dee

Had a few hours to kill today so headed out with ron again about 2pm to retrieve the honey jar, we had a storm not long ago so wasnt sure what to expect.
The honey jar was still there with the lid on, it was against the tree, but has been moved away a little behind sticks and still upright.Ron asked if i wanted to keep it there , i said yes and moved it back against the tree as usual and we left it. Now that im home i should have bought it back to attempt fingerprinting.Intrigued how it had been moved, kept upright and sticks moved and took no honey?????I think a wallaby/dog would have knocked it over and couldnt have put sticks in front. Still we will never know anyway.
Will head out very soon at night to retrieve it 1 last time for prints. Wont be saying what night as i dont want people setting anything up in case on us.
Cant afford a bush cam at moment as im building a new horse float but would love love to sit one at the creek to watch if people are making these rock stacks, as the large one has changed(Top 3 rocks) some others were missing and some new ones have been put up again. I dont understand why the 2 large tall ones didnt come down in the storm.Theres 27 now.
Wind came and went, a tree branch came crashing down when the wind dropped?? Lots of rustling in bushes and birds going crazy again. Several rock drops thump noises.Little rock clanging.
We believe they are still there. Again no visual.Have attached some pics.Dee

Yeah i didnt mention the footprints as they are too hard to show up in the camera when there on the leaves like that. Better of taking pics when we see them in the sand creekbed again and next to the trail after it rains, they were really distinct there.Charging up everything now so i can listen to the audio and visual on cam of whatever animal tail we saw. Yep action but need them vocals again hey. Im exhausted, covered some miles today lol. We might have to ride the horses out there next time--will have a quicker getaway too if we need it lol.

Being on horseback would have some advantages... you don't have to watch your own footing and are free to look around lots more, plus the obvious height advantage.

While I highly doubt you could catch a booger on trail cam it would be useful to see if non-hairy hominids are building those rock stacks as you suggest (if well hidden). Anyone here have one to lend?

You may find your horses will baulk at going into some areas if they can smell their presence but give it a try anyway.

I know a girl who was killed when her horse ran off a cliff. She was a very experienced rider and horse trainer and looking fwd to starting a new family. Ive always wondered what happened. Yowies had often been reported in the area..

Hi all, went out to caloundra road and roys road beerwah friday night--very quiet, lots of human traffic, not much to hear or see, dead there except for the brumbys. So decided to go back to d'aguilar.

Richard myself and ron went out last night---yes only the 3 of us.
It has been dead out there for a while so decided to go with just us 3.

Got in there at 8.30 pm. As soon as we got out of the car extremely loud rock throwing going on very very close.
Started to walk in with Yowies??? on both sides of the track and ahead of us. Extremely loud rock throwing and tree knocking. Bushes moving and very loud unhappy Yowies???

Got so intense, richard being 7 meters ahead of me and ron right behind me.
Got 10 minutes into the walk and yes Ron and I saw one crossing the path ahead of us about 10 metres in front of me.
Richard was 7m in front of me but was looking to his right as a extra large rock got thrown down at him. The potent smell came immediately.

(This tall large light grey figure did 1 big stride across the path from right to left. 1 motion, no obvious legs or arms moving. It was about 600 wide and slightly taller then richard.)

We believe the yowies that surrounded us were only 2 meters away from us---very very close. We still hadnt even got close to the usual creekbank where we normally see rock stacks. We could not go any further as they were cutting us off, we walked back to the car when it got worse.

I unlocked the car and kept the driver door open to get my drink. We were standing outside of the car right next to the drivers door. They surrounded the car very close in the bush, making heaps of clack noises and tree knocking. Then a large piece of wood got thrown near our feet. Then a rock, i dove in the drivers seat, keeping the door open. Rick and ron stood at the back of the car torching. We just stayed listening to them. Minutes later a stone got thrown at me sitting in the car, it hit the frame next to the front windscreen and bounced down across my right leg and onto the ground.

Rick and ron came as they heard it hit the car.I had the cam on me sitting there as richard had given to me when we got back to the car. We left in on till we got out of those tracks and onto main road. Saw nothing driving out.
Got home, downloaded the cam videos, richard left for home and ron and i watched them.

As i was sitting in the car the cam was facing forward in front of the bonnet in the dark bush. We believe we have 4 eyes staring at the car from the bush, occasionally blinking. I hopefully will ask rusty to view this video for me to see what he thinks.

So, there back. But stroppy with us. They did not want us to get to that creek bank at all !
And yes, once again i am to scared to go back. I bet theres foot inprints everywhere tomorrow too.

Question---I only thought they were supposed to be black or brown. This one was 100% light grey. Dee

I tell you it got pretty wild out there and was becoming very dangerous for us to continue. The figure Dee mentioned crossing the path seemed to glide or it was one giant footstep.I think it would have been in the 6ft range it happened so quickly. Then we got the wet dog smell and turned around and got out of there.

I've wondered if some of their hunting is accomplished with rocks.

I found a couple of dead waterfowl stashed at the base of a tree covered by some leaves. They looked like they were freshly killed and possibly hit with a rock. I wondered if I had interrupted a hunt.

We've never had rocks incoming just little green unopened pine cones and not very threatening. I would really be concerned if sizable stones were coming in.

Hey Dee, Ron. Great stuff and glad you got outta there safe. It seems persistence pays off. Dee they are reported in all colours from what i can tell. Be careful out there guys!! Found this Roister in a gully yesterday. Kept getting led back to it while walking in circles at my cootha. Doesnt seem to be eaten. I was thinking Fox or cat. Doubt its natural causes!

Hi Rusty I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but when Dee described this thing it was exactly what I saw. These thing had us surrounded at the carpark and they never have come that far out at any stage before. I think there would have had to be around 5 ore more they were actually communicating to each other with tree knocks. It was one hell of an experience.

Hey Ron , thank's for being open about you both witnessing of the "gliding" event . Doesn't make sense does it ? But researchers keep seeing it .

There was also a report on here somewhere with a car full of witnesses seeing one cross a 6 lane highway north of sydney , the witness said the exact thing you did , it seemed to glide across the highway .
viewtopic.php?f=45&t=4592&p=32997&hilit=gliding#p32997

If you felt intimidated during the whole experience then you got the message , they don't want you there anymore . Not sure what else you can do with them ......

Hey Yowiebait , did the chicken have it's head ? Foxes usually remove heads and won't eat the chicken , so my father once told me .
