Activity West of Kew/Kendall
Hello Guys and Gals,
Long time no chat. I used to be on here approx 5 yrs ago (Username Joby82).
I have had an experience or 2 over the past 6 months at the back of a friends place a few Km West of Kew/Kendall.
I apologise now if this story gets drawn out, I have a habit of telling long boring stories. Here goes.
Back in Jan 17 I called through and stayed a night at my Mates place - at above location. He had previously told me about a particular night he was hanging some washing out on dusk when he heard this blood curdling scream/howl that came from the bush/mountain that backed onto his place. He, myself and another work mate have been really interested in Yowie sightings and witness accounts for a number of years and we are all open to the idea of their existence. (Even though none of us has seen one) we have had an encounter in one way or another. which led me to paying him a visit. Anyway on this day I came to see him I had my partner and my 3 kids, my mate took me for a walk along the creek/river at the back of his place and showed me where he took his kids swimming. We sat in the shady spot of the creek on a rocky outcrop and talked about diff things and watched the kids playing in the water. We were there for approximately 20 mins when I heard several tree knocks and a strange thumping sound - very faint but sounding like throwing a 10kg rock into soil/dirt. My mate didn't hear it but soon after we heard another knock. The direction was hard to pin point. I then I heard a diff sound, which sounded like a man clearing his throat. It wasn't loud it was a very low and deep sound and I was able to only just pick it up. It happened again within minutes this time my mate hearing it also. We weren't 100% sure what it was and at this point unfazed, the kids were still playing in the shallow water. We sat and talked a bit more when my mate noticed a heap of fresh water mussells caught in some lamandra near the edge of the water. He started collecting them and all up found approximately 30/40 mussells with a strange hole all the way through the shell. We both said it looked as though something with sharp canines had pierced the shells, we both had a brief discussion about what native animals ate mussells and had the potential to do that to the shell, we came up empty handed. We both believed they had been collected and brought to that specific location to be eaten. My mate suggested we headed back to the house as the kids were picking up on what the adults were talking about and started to raise a few concerns, I said I have an idea......before I could mention it my oldest son 12 ran over to me very quickly/freaked out and said something just threw a rock at him, most of us heard a small rock hit a overhanging branch where he was in the water and dropped right down beside him. My mate said, I think now is a good time to go haha I told him to take all the kids 4 in total and my partner back up to the house, and I would lay in hiding to see if anything would come out after "it" thought we had left. Anyway my oldest son stayed with me whilst the rest left and to my surprisement in less than 5 minutes of the group walking off my son and I heard something approx 50m away on the same side of the creek walking very slowly on 2 legs toward us. Whatever it was, was in stealth mode, it took approx 5/6 steps dead lantana cracking under its feet every step. My son said out of shock dad what the effing hell is it. At this point it stopped and I didn't like how scared my son was so we stood up and walked back to the house. My son no longer scared but excited and asking me 100s of questions which I had not the greatest answers for.
Fast forward to last night, I went up to my mates again and stayed the night with the other fella from work, we both had a campfire going in the back yard and we were getting ready for bed when we both heard branches/sticks cracking breaking. We both heard it twice, big D went over and leaned on the fence post looking down into the dark toward the creek. I was rugged up in the back of my ute. He said it went very silent for a few minutes then he heard the branches snapping again. He told me they weren't in the one spot they were simultaneously happening in a number of directions. He stood there for close to 10 mins, we threw a few logs on the fire and both went to bed. It wasn't much longer after that, I'd say about 45 mins at most I was awoken from my deep sleep (dosed up on cold and flu tabs and a few wild turkeys) by this awful scream. If I had to explain it to someone I would of said it was a cross between a wolf howling and a woman screamng in pure fear. It was sooo eerie it echoed through the valley as I sprung up out of bed and sung out to Big D, he slept through the whole thing. I kept calling out to him only to hear him snoring back at me. I laid there as I thought what the hell was that, I put my head back down on the pillow and dozed off. Within 5 minutes I heard a different sound much closer but not as terrifying as the 1st, it sounded like a Ram, a really really angry one and it was sort of a growl or a bark. It was nothing like the first call. I called out to big D again this time waking him and telling him what I had just heard. We both sat there for close to 10 mins and heard absolutely nothing. I went back to sleep and I assumed so did the big fella, and.........within a few more mins there it was again. The short growl bark which sounded like a Ram bleeting. Is that what it's called?? I tried to wake Big D up again but didn't bother. I told him in the morning what I heard and showed him the rough locations where I believed it came from, although he didn't hear them I am almost certain he believed me which I find very grateful. As Icould very well of sounded like a mad man.
I am really interested to answer any questions people may have, as well as listen to any opinions. I am happy to take a few pointers tips etc for next time round. Def going back for some more investigating.
Ps I got some pics of the mussells as well as some possible foot prints. I will do my best to attach them.
I hope you enjoyed the read.
Cheers

Re: Activity West of Kew/Kendall
You are very close to Swans Crossing where friends of mine have had a sighting. Two years ago one came to the edge of the clearing at around 2 pm and was witnessed by my mates and the people set up near them.It was about 5foot tall with red hair stood looking at them then left. I've spent many nights camped there but I never seen or heard anything but in hindsight there were plenty of tree breaks and we found rock stacks saplings that were wrapped around trees that obviously didn't happen naturally but at the time didn't know anything about the signs that yowies are around.Friends said they wouldn't go back there.I talk to people at work, mates and family and I'm surprised quite a few have had something happen or know someone who has.Definitely yowie hotspot.

Yeah it's basically right near Swans crossing, and it's funny you say 5ft tall all the while I thought that's what we were dealing with. Next time we go I am going to take some sound recorders, I believe that there may be a few of them. Hopefully we can catch a call or 2. We are only 20 mins from Comboyne as well another place we want to take a look at.

Hi Joby,. Lots of reports from Wingham that go back to colonial days so Comboyne/Byabarra areas would also have activity and there's an audio report from Wauchope you should listen to.Yowies move about so they would be all over these areas.

Hey Dion,
The prints were found in 2 seperate locations, both in the directions from my mates house when I heard the calls from the previous night. They are in a River bed (Upsalls creek River) I'm pretty sure. The 2 closest properties are my mates place and a neighbour. The neighbour has an elderly couple who I doubt would venture down to the creek/river, due to age and rough terrain. It is approximately 300 metre walk from both properties. My mate has 2 children who he said haven't ventured down that way since I was last there in Jan for a swim. He said when it rains up his way the river gets a decent amount of water in it therefore would wash away the prints. He said it was a good 2 weeks ago the river was flooded due to heavy rain, so prints are at least that old although I believe much fresher myself. Other than those 2 there is some other properties that have older farmers approx 1km and more away. There would be close to 8 people that live in a 5km radius. So accessibility is there but my mate says no one ever goes down to the creek/river besides him and his family. The prints were roughly 8-10 inches long but I noticed were very broad, it was hard to make out any toe formation. I'm not 100% sold that they are yowie, I originally thought children, but after process of elimination it has left me more open to the thought, considering the strange noises I heard the night before. The foot prints were also found on the rocky outcrop which held over 30 odd empty mussel shells as well.

Those dull thumps sound like the footstomps that Rusty and others have reported.

Not knowing the area, I am guessing that if you were to walk in one or either direction along the Upsalls Creek River you would eventually get to bushland/National Park?

This and a recent audio report from the area adds more weight to my theory of William tyrell being taken by a yowie.
Nice track sets matey.

Re: Activity West of Kew/Kendall
Hi Paul, Your theory on William is shared by a few people and although the area is surrounded by thick bushland the yowie thing seems improbable more likely to be by human not yowie. There has been mystery about Williams real family...he could have been taken by his family....there was a strange car seen in the street stationary for quite a while before his abduction or as been widely speculated a pedophile ring......my point is there are a number of possibilities.
