Missing Woman?
I may be stepping over the boundary into the realms of fantasy here....BUT:
I notice that a woman has inexplicably gone missing from her home near Lorne (?).
Her dog was found in a distressed state.
From memory and maps I think there is a lot of bushland inland of that town area.
Could she have been out for a walk and been grabbed by a Bush Ape?
If so, I doubt they'll ever find her.

The possibility of a Yowie abduction is probably one of the first thinks you think of these days when somebody virtually disappears without a satisfactory explanation or at least by some Yowiehunters forum members. paulmcleod67 is a believer in the disappearance of people and a possible Yowie connection and I believe he has strong justifications.
People may be jogging, walking, riding bicycles and being observed by a Yowie without even realizing it. This is a video by Australian Yowie Research involving a lady walking along a trail to a river https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExSbLU3BAZo in Australind, Western Australia my home state and being followed by one.
All avenues of investigation have to be explored regarding disappearances/abductions before any conclusions can be derived at but this theory is one that has to be seriously considered something we may not have given any credence to in the past.
I would be very wary about doing any outdoor activities in remote bushland in Australia particularly alone.

Hi Senses. That is a scary close encounter for sure but i think if that bush ape wanted that young lady he would have took her without a second thought and there would be nothing anyone could do about it. Im not discounting these bush apes take people but human involvement is more likely in my opinion.sensesonfire wrote:Mad Academic wrote:I may be stepping over the boundary into the realms of fantasy here....BUT:

G' day Yowie,
Yes, I'd definitely agree with that submission. Still, being out in the bush at night alone especially in Yowie country......no thanks.

Re: Missing Woman?
Hi Senses and YB , I for some reason believe they know I mean them no harm when I go out , I pretty much always go out alone , and go out over night alone . I normally find something new as in structures or new prints and I always hear them calling out in the distance and sometimes a lot closer.
Whilst I do have times I feel apprehensive , I have never felt in danger and my opinion is that as I have been going to this area for about 3-4years leaving fruit { and I have recently worked out they may like eggs } , that they realise I am not there to hurt but to just enjoy my hobby .
It should be noted I have no guns or weapons , only a machete , for protection , but I have been going bush for 40 odd years inc some time in the Army and going bush is my happy place { my wife often sends me out when I become a grumpy old man , I'm 53 }
Maybe my group are just pacifists like me
Cheers Greg

Eggs are a good idea. They would be an excellent protein source for youngsters climbing trees....
... problem is crows will take them.

Not for me either Senses but you can bet theres a lot of Aussies out alone in the bush every night that return home safe. If not we'd be hearing about it on the news for sure as the media just love this type of story.sensesonfire wrote:G' day Yowie,

Re: Missing Woman?
Whether they are taken or not by the hairy ones I guess is what evidence is present.
The geography of the area is paramount. Mountainous areas with cliffs and crevaces could suggest a different fate. People falling off cliffs or down seemingly bottomless holes is not unheard of. On a recent trip to the Blue Mountains I was amazed how many areas are not fenced off and if one was not paying attention, well just say that the fall would be unexpected and fatal. The area down the bottom could almost be unchartered also.
The evidence pointing to abductions seems to be grey. There are not many reports here of such things happening or being attempted. Yes sure there is reports of confrontations and supposed approaches but has anyone actually seen a Yowie attack or attempt to abduct a human?
The other angle that also needs to be addressed is that unlike the countries, we dont have any apex predators that are worthy of taking down and removing a human from sight. Yes Snakes bite and can render a human lifeless but what would drag the body away? A dingo maybe? I can't think of any other animal that could do it.
I guess I am not saying its not possible but just that the evidence is not incriminating enough...
Still great question though.

Re: Missing Woman?
Chris, just another option. Never underestimate the "clean up" ability of feral pigs. On various trips away I have observed cattle and native animal carcasses. Sometimes they are gone within days. Leaving remains like a jaw bone or a bony foot, or some skin sections. The area around the site can be churned up and pig foot prints abound. A big mob of pigs could clean up a human corpse rather quickly.

Hi thehairyone,
That's great, love the idea you leave the fruit. I know that generally, the rule is you don't leave them food especially in the case of Bigfoot but if that can convince Yowies you mean them no harm then I'm for it.
Maybe it will gain their confidence enough to reveal themselves if not up close and personal then from a safe distance.

You are right ChrisV, I saw a news clip on TV the other night and if that is the area where the lady disappeared it presents a different aspect altogether. It showed the jogging track right next to steep rock faces and that may suggest a scenario that needs investigating.

Yes, I also heard that report.VicYowieResearch wrote:Remains have been found on Anglesea beach, coroner waiting to identify.
It will probably turn out to be the missing woman.
If so, then I imagine our furry friends are blameless.
Possibly an accident? We will probably never know.
At least the family will get some "closure".
