Thoughts Please ?

Unread post by thehairyone »

Hey everyone ,
I'm after everyones thoughts on these pics , I retrieved the card out of my trail cam today , its been out about a month ,
and found an interesting pic and video . The first pic is taken at 10.53 am , the second ( the one of interest ) at 11.03 and the third at 11.20 am all
on the same day .
I have added the first and second ones as comparison pics ( basically to show that there is no evidence of the shadow before or after) .
I have also attached a pic of me take when i was setting up the camera , I am a bees under 6ft
I am going back asap to take some proper measurements etc .
This is also the exact area (20m away ) where i have taken pics of a definate face and found a 33cm footprint ( previous post )
Cheers Greg

Try and get there at the exact same time to see if it is caused by a neighbouring tree.

Gday Wolf ,
I am going to try to get back one day this week ( its a 2 hr drive just to get there ) but if not it will definately be saturday or sunday whichever day has the weather most like the day in the pic , and i will sit and wait .
I have previously found a small rock stack there , only 5 rocks , which i left alone , but about 6 months ago the stack was destroyed They seem to leave the area at the start of summer as all the activity ceases, but today the stack was back with the same rocks , it may be a coincidence but I'm thinking that maybe they stack them when they are in the area and destroy them when they leave , maybe 5 x rocks is a family group of 5 , who knows
Where i go i very rarely see anyone , it is not a walking trail but in the middle of a large state forest

G'day Greg,

Certainly some shots to get us thinking. I have not been a member long but am enjoying the people who are members and I'm learning as I go.
The only thing I can think of that may distort the image is a cloud passing overhead, just a thought. Would you mind posting the location of your shots please. Area and nearest town is ample as I'm just curious and you may wish not to give out too much as you may be trampled in the rush.
Best of luck with further trips and please stay safe. I'm afraid my days of running around in the Bush are gone, too much wrong with me nowadays.
I keep telling my Margaret she should have got her Toy Boy in better condition.
Cheers, Aussie Denis. Annandale ( Townsville, Qld area. )

Don't think it's tree (or structure) shadow, as the interval between it being there and not being there are too brief. Would take an hour to retreat that far, if not more. Can't be cloud, as it's far too sharp.

Looks like a person. Or person shaped figure.

Meantime, most envious that you're able to post pics!

Actually, it looks exactly right by my estimates. In 15 minutes the sun moves a full finger in the sky (Old bushie trick to know how much daylight is left: hold arm extended, bend in hand and each grouping of four fingers represents an hour).

The ten minute period between images is enough to move a tree trunk shadow that far... if at the right angle.

I think Wolf’s on to it, if you look at the tree on the right in the first pic the shadows all the way up then in the second it’s starting to come across onto the middle one.
Interesting theory on the rock stacks. I definitely agree about the stacks going up and down with their movements. The rocks seem to signal they’re around, the broken sticks seem to signal they don’t want company, in my expeirience any way lol.

You're probably right, Wolf. I was thinking of complete appearance and disappearance of the shadow within 15 minutes.

Hi all , I went back today and took photos at the exact same times in the same weather conditions as before , I sat there for about an hour and the shape didn't return .
I did use a different camera but got pretty much the same angles from the exact spot the trail camera was .
The very small branch you see coming out of the tree is exactly 9 ft 2 in ( 2.8 m ) high and where the shadow seems to stop is 8ft 6in ( 2.6m ) high
