http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-kWzSgm9Do (goes for 45 seconds)
Here is where it originaly started.
http://forum.wickedlasers.com/viewtopic ... ht=bigfoot
Someone should check around "Location: Large Ironbark tree (there's only one) Directly oppostite 37 Wellington Road/Drive, Katoomba. "
Thoughts ?

Well, i've never seen a yowie before, but i'd think if it was spotted, wouldn't it screech/growl/grunt at them or something?
I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside. Run. He's fuzzy. Get outta here.

Well, i've read the entire thread where the video originally came from, and have come to this conclusion:
B******t
for two reasons:
#1 - Marco Nero; the guy who originally shot the film

#2 - Not only did he do design work for the sci-fi channel, but his wife is a costume maker! The SciFi channel send a film crew out to film me for the Farscape series a few years ago. I used to be the designer and Matte Painter for Farscape.

I'd love for this to be real, but, its just abit too perfect. I'm the last person to be skeptical, but.. as I said, its never as easy as that.Rena (my wife) is indeed a seamstress and a costume designer but she specialises in Rennaisance and period clothing... like chainmail, 70s and even leather garments + anime costumes for the local Animania conventions. The kind of material needed to create a hairy costume would be in the many thousands of dollars... even if relatively cheap pieces were used. I can assure you that she had nothing to do with the critter since she's pressured for time these days and was also indoors at the time back at the property we were renting for the weekend. I don't think she quite believed us until I gave the camera enough time to defrost (climatise) - which took about 30 minutes - and then showed her the video. She couldn't see much on the LCD screen and just said it looked "cool". Remember that it was like 5 degrees outside and felt like it was absolutely freezing. We were hoping for a rare bout of snow and were also killing time waiting for our dinner to be delivered by two of the girls who had gone to pick it up. I took some daylight shots from the same location - can upload those when I get home tonight. Might give you an idea of where I was in relation to the National Park.

Re: New Yowie Video ?
gezzz hard to say, first i just hope this isnt a hoax, but then iam left thinking that it was staged as the creature looks nothing more than a man in a wookie suit from star wars episode 3 . that movie having been made in sydney and his wife working as a costume designer perhaps a wookie suit fell off the back of a truck in fox studios ?????? then agian iam left thinking that it could be genuine as ive watched the footage over a 100 times now looking for any evidence of it being real and i can see as the creature runs off it is slightly hunched.but shouldnt its eyes be red?????????the height was said to be 6ft which could mean this is a young yowie possibly making him nieve and not so careful like older yowies, also too making him less aggressive...but shouldnt yowies look more like an ape????it clearlys looks like a wookie suit...i hope someone has gottern to spot it was sighted and looked for hair samples , footprints , claw marks in the tree cause that could play a big part in finding the truth in this film clip.....
i wont say its hoaxed and i wont say its real,,,,,just fingers crossed and hope it is genuine....

no likness to this picture[/img]

I would love for this to be genuine.
One minute I look at it and think 'No way. Fake'.
Then I watch it again and think 'Hey........maybe.......'
I've never actually seen a yowie close-up like that before, so I can't comment on what they look like.
But it seems like as the camera approaches, the subject appears to open it's mouth slightly and bare it's teeth, before poking it's head around the trunk and think to itself 'Sh*t. They saw me,' before taking off.
But as Alex mentioned, I think everything is a little too convenient.
Then again...........
I would really like to the results of a lie-detector test taken by the cameraman.
Maybe Dean can rig that up. Would be very interesting.

That pic he posted was the Myakka skunk ape. I'll post some screencaps from the video.
<edit>
Whilst grabbing screencaps.. I just realised something.. the "yowie" looks an awful lot like the Myakka skunk ape. Roughly same eye positioning, nose positioning & mouth. Roughly same head size too. I heard somewhere that there was two species of Yowies in australia, the big ones & the smaller ones that look abit like orang-utans.. which, coincidently, is what the skunk ape looks abit like.
Skunk Ape

Ugh, its not letting me screencap (stupid hardware). But its 9 seconds in, just as the yowie looks at the camera. Notice the similarities?

It will not come up on my machine, so I haven't seen it. I have seen this photo before, I was under the impression that it was taken by an elderly florida lady!
Have I lost the plot?

Well then.
Thanks for posting this one Mikka.
Being one of the few that has experience with the Yowie and having "seen" them first hand, indeed I do have an opinion.
Before I go into to too much detail about this footage, can someone organise to send me the original copy (I'm sure many of you would have requested this already and probably have it). This web based footage is very depixelised and hard to make out - however.......
Pro's - Basically everything. The Yowie pretends to be a tree, or a part of a tree. This is what they do. The Yowie is known to face INTO a tree to "pretend" the be a part of a tree (as we see in this video) This is what they do.
The Yowie is even known to put both arms out pretending them to be branches..... They pretend to be a part of a tree. This is what they do.
At night, most people wouldn't notice them - this is their practice and this "pretending to be a part of a tree" is what I see here in this video in regard to behaviour.
The nose looks right to me. The behaviour looks right to me.
Cons - You don't need to be a "racket" scientist to work out that if this was indeed real footage that they would have gone to every TV Network in the Country, rather than posting their 'Gold' on some obscure WWW site and insinuating "Well..... whatever... This is what we shot on film - yawn..." (Also, one would imagine they could have come to US for an opinion, which is normally the case if unsure).
Alex makes very relevant points, very relevant points.... read back through what he has to say. I agree with them all. If we're dealing with a professional that makes their 'living' in costumes design, then where are we at? Conflict of interest.....
Probably too much hair around the immediate face for my liking and I don't care for the 'composure' of the narrator. Most people would have tripped backward once they had a visual rather than chasing the unknown monster staring them in the face from behind a tree. If he has so that much courage, then I want to know him. It's certainly not my experience that when 'ordinary' people are confronted with such a creature (with his wife alone in the dark and in a forest), that they give chase to a hairy monster while alone.
Plus they would have had a head full of questions. This is when people find us..... Not hard, as we come up as #1 and that we are.... Wouldn't you think we would have had a call rather than posting ambiguous footage on 'You Tube'?
Synopsis....
If this is a fake - they have done their home work in terms of how the Yowie thinks and operates. The layman would have done a Steve Piper job from Canberra.
These people have either done their research very well (there *IS* insider knowledge here) or perhaps they have stumbled onto something grand.
The question still remains..... why on Earth would ANYONE post this footage on 'You Tube' if it was authentic.......
Show me the original...

You do a search for "bigfoot" on youtube & get about 1000 results.. some home footage of people pretending to be bigfoot, and others which seem abit legit. Well, not legit, but, not people screwing around.
Speaking of which, thoughts on this video?

Dean brings up some good points.
It did pretend to appear tree-like.
These are however well known Yowie traits.
Other Homonid cryptids also do this.
So this behaivior could be faked.
The more I watched it though, the more I
was concerned, that its face didn't look right.
I dont know, but "white guy in a suite"
keeps sticking in my mind.

I like it, but. I like it a lot. If this is a fake, someone has gone to extraordinary lengths and done mass amounts of research. I look at this, and the other looks like an ametuer's hoax, which I'm still a little aprehensive to draw a conclusion on.
However I am not really in the position to be handing out a verdict, as anything can be faked with a camera. You can only go as far as to comment on what you can see. The only people to know the truth are the ones who are there.
Video evidence is unfortunately always going to be questioned.

Doesn't matter how many times I watch that clip
"White guy in a suit" keeps sticking in my mind.
I think Dean's hit the nail on the head.
Who in their right mind chase a Yowie at night?
Answer:- No one.
Cameraman chasing a 6 foot plus hairy Giant through the Bush at night. No. That aint right. I'd expect the guy to freeze, realise what he's hooked and back out of there quick as his little feet can take him.
Cheers

I read the report in the original main site from the cameraman who did state that after he realised what it was, he did not pursue it into the bush and seemed scared to go after it (he was questioned by others on the original site). My first thoughts were also "its Chewie!!!" but a very good fake if that!! Also, how did he know it was there for 15 mins before noticing it??

can i just say that, i have actually met someone who did chase something into the bush that i am positive was a yowie, that sure i contacted Dean years ago about it and lets just say when he was in its domain it dominated, so i figure if this was real once it KNEW it was found out it would have done anything too stop anyone finding out anymore about it

Yellow eyes
Admittedly, I haven't yet had the good fortune of seeing the whole package of Yowie hair, shape of the figure, head, face, and eyes - all at once - let alone capture it on video camera!!
That said, I have seen normal torch light illuminate the eyes of what I believe to have been a Yowie, and seen the colour of those eyes morph from bright yellow to bright red. In relation to eyes and Yowie hotspots, many others have also reported car headlights, light from houses illuminating bush, or torch light - to reveal large yellow or red eyes.
I was initially condemning this, but on review of the footage, I'm going to sit on the fence.
LIKES:
1. When the light shines on the creature's face, it's illuminated left eye has a distinct yellow tinge to it. (Some in this field have commented the Yowie's eyes reflect initially yellow until it locks onto your position and then goes red)
2. It's face appears dark and blurred - not necessarily covered with hair - fake or real.
3. It did appear to be hiding into the tree as noted by Dean & consistent with other's observations.
4. Many 'yowie hunters' have observed that when advanced upon, especially by a bright light, the Yowie tends to flee into the bush - just like this one.
5. It was long hair covered, consistent with reports.
6. The brown colour of the hair, though lacking a reddish tinge, is still consistent with many reports where the hair colour has been observed as either brownish or black.
DISLIKES:
1. The eye level of the cameraman appears to be at the same level as the eye of the Yowie - despite being at relatively close range and many reports of Yowies (particularly in the Blue Mountains NSW) being 7'tall +.
2. The head does not look glaringly large, the brow pronounced, or head crested (but once again it is a fleeting glimpse, thus image is dependant on angles, lighting, etc.)
3. A millisecond of vocalisation from the creature would have added tonnes to the credibility and kept us all in suspense much longer whilst comparisons with known primates and human vocalisation ranges were made. Coincidentally or unfortunately - Nil vocalisations.
A sample few questions I would ask the cameraman for clarification purposes:
1. Exactly what was your purpose for being there, how long had you been there, have you been there before, why did you choose this spot to test your 'laser'?
2. Before taking this footage have you ever had an interest in cryptozoology, particularly the yowie, and if so, how much time have you spent inquiring about it?
3. What inquiries if any, have you made into this field, before this incident?
4. How far away do you normally reside from where this footage was taken?
5. How tall are you? How tall, based on the footage and the actual tree, was this creature's estimated height?
6. Was a check done at a later time at that precise spot for any unusual hairs at the base of the tree or footprints?
6. At what time did you turn the camera on before the footage, and at what time did you turn it off afterwards? Why to both!!

new yowie video ?
intresting video footage what was that niose , it sounded like a truck driveing off, or a buss , i can hear a females vioce in it and at least 2 males vioces but the slight puffing nioses sounds like a dog but then it should of been whineing in terror , as even when i read about yowies dogs, seem to sense them and get terrified over them as for the facial features , well even in slow motion i can see the nose and eyes just and i noticed the fur over head seem to slide back a little like it has loose skin . but anyhow my mind is open and im pritty intrested , the camera man was catching up to it ok with a camera dispite the yowie supose to be fast and being able to outrun anyone and even with the light in its face or near its eyes why aint the eyes lite up red , like cats eyes do when hit by light or partial light, and the yowie its hair looks more white than brown and i wonder how many trees around to match its fur colour in the one erea
ive been intrested in yowies ,like the american bigfoot for years, i was allso a former member of 2 ufo reserch groups in the 70s and i dazel into electronics , of which i beleave may be usefull in the yowie feild,
