FOOTPRINT
PHOTOGRAPHED AT:
LOCATION: Toowoomba, Great Dividing Range, South East Queensland.
POSTCODE: 4352.
DAY & DATE: Saturday, July 7th 2018.
TIME: 5.22pm
WEATHER CONDITION: Overcast with occasional light showers of rain. Previous day - same weather conditions.
LANDFORM: Steep mountains & Scarps, frequent sandstone rock outcrops & stoney areas along the mountain ridge top.
SOIL TYPE: Very shallow light compacted clay between stretches of sandstone.
FOOTPRINT MEASUREMENTS:
Heal to Toe: 16 inches, or 40 centimeters.
Width: at widest point across - 6.2 inches,
or 15.5 centimeters.
In my opinion there are two overlapping footprints (based on the position of the visible toe prints and the fact that there are two heel prints in that image). I'm not able to identify if they're from the same foot or a left and a right foot as the toe impressions are indistinct. The cigarette lighter gives us a fair idea of their size, which is considerable. It's possible that whatever made the prints changed direction mid-stride for some reason, causing the overlap. That's what the image suggests to me, anyway.
It's hard to make out how many toes there are - possibly due to the fact that it may have shifted its weight or changed direction mid-step. There seem to be at least four toes based on the image.
It's difficult to say any more as I'm not an anatomist or any kind of expert. I'm certainly not a tracker or bushman, and have no field research experience. You'd wonder why anyone would be barefoot in the wilderness, although that's not impossible. The sheer size of the prints, however, is what draws my attention.
It's impossible to say what it is or isn't - it's human shaped but extremely large. It looks like it was recently made when the photo was taken, so perhaps your presence caused whatever made the print to leave suddenly? That's just speculation on my part, though.
It's good that you included measurements and put the lighter there for comparison. I have size 11.5 feet and I put a similar lighter next to my own foot just now and it didn't look that tiny in comparison, so whatever made the track(s) had much larger feet than mine.
