Hi All.
It's interesting to note that the image bears a striking resemblance to the Katrina Tucker sketch.
Similar to Fitzroy Crossing, her encounter was also in the Top End, at Acacia Hills in the NT.

Dean's still working on that, yowie bait. Hopefully, we'll know more, before too long.
In the meantime, while there are plenty of different ghillie suits on the market, I've noticed from photos, the persons head sticks up a lot more, and people aren't as wide. Besides, what would a person have to be wearing around his eyes to achieve that effect?
Thankyou, I wantobelieve, that's exactly the image I was trying to remember when I saw the second side view image. That's a pretty uncanny resemblance, you have to admit.

How are we judging size? Is it the road width or the possible gradings or tyre tracks?

Re: New Controversy.
It's hard to judge size. It looks like a typically graded, dry dirt road.
The figure doesn't look overly tall, probably within average human height range.
The rocks on the road look the average size you'd expect on such a road.
Without knowing the height of the camera, or distance away, it's hard to tell. I'd be leaning towards at least a 4wd dashboard height up to a prime mover. A standard car to me, seems way too low.

I still think we are looking at something which is about the 2-3 foot range in height 4ft at the most, if you look at the pebbles on the road (where its looks to be face on to the camera) the pebbles look around the 2-3cm mark not big at all, and then also the tyre marks to me it points at something rather small and not human height at all.
Whatever it is however and the circumstances around the screen grabs it shows that the thing moved from what it seems to be a left position on the road to then walk across the road to the right all while the headlights were on (maybe in full beam?). Which does seem odd.
Would still like to see the footage if available.

Re: New Controversy.
Until we see it in motion there's no way to be sure what we're even looking at. Is it four feet tall or six feet tall? Is it even taller? How wide is it? We've got no frame of reference beyond our own personal opinions. We can't guess based on the average size of rocks, etc. I'm leaning towards this being a fake - there's so much info online now that anyone who had a desire to do so could produce a half-decent fake and even base it on eyewitness accounts they'd seen or read. This forum, for instance, would be a gold mine of information for anyone who wanted to perpetrate a hoax.
It'd be great - as always - if it were fair dinkum, but I'm not holding my breath. Every video I see, every image, is potentially fake until proven otherwise in some manner. That could happen in a variety of different ways, most of which I'm not even able to articulate or describe, but I think we'll all know what it is or isn't once the video has been made available.
If I were betting money, though, I'd be putting my money on this being fake. I'd like to be wrong, but I don't think I am.

I would very much doubt that an indigenous aboriginal would fake something like this as they take their culture very seriously, most do anyway. It would be quite disrespectful to make fun at others expense through this culture. IMO.

If it was from a dashcam then there should be some video. Why not show us the video. If it is a hoax, there is equal possibility that an indigenous person may have perpetrated the event.

I’ve been hoping for years now that some really decent footage will emerge one day in Oz or overseas, courtesy of front or rear dashcams.
Not for a moment saying this is the ‘one’, but if the video can be located, I’m sure it will prove much more interesting than the stills.
Smart pickup by iwanttobelieve with the similarity to the Katrina Tucker sketch. That interview remains on of my favourites. If you haven’t listened, it’s #24 on the audio file list. Or check it out here.

Re: New Controversy.
Nice one Searcher. I remember watching that on an AYR audio report binge but didnt pay much attention. It really is an amazing encounter. Why would someone think they were seeing a bear in Oz unless their mind was doing cartwheels trying to figure it out. Funny too that the lady and yowie both took the bolt at the same time. Lucky it didnt go after her on the 4 wheeler. Re: New Controversy.
I was in two minds about the authenticity of the Fitzroy Crossing pics until I saw the Acacia Hills drawing.
The similarity of the angled stoop is surprising. Not just leaning over or forward but a definite crease in the torso.
Looking at the drawing I get the impression Katrina Tucker wasn’t just trying to sketch a figure leaning over
but she was trying to depict the angled stoop.
At least the hoaxer in the ghillie suit remembered to put something on their head while in the suit to make it look pointed.

Re: New Controversy.
Hi All.
Just my opinion, but I tend to think what we’re looking at are two images in profile.
One image seems to show, whatever it is, bent almost doubled over to the ground with its body facing across the road and its head down low and turned toward the camera, sort of like it’s looking over its shoulder with its arm hanging straight down. This is why it looks so short.
I’m guessing the two dark patches are where the eyes would be and even though they’re not reflective in the image, it does seem to be consistent with some witness reports that describe big black eyes.
There also appears to be a right arm which is obscuring most of the left leg, apart from the foot/ankle, which can be seen at the bottom of the arm.
If you imagine it then standing up, the position of the light coloured patches seem to be consistent with the upright image.
When looking at the upright image you’d have to think those road corrugations are 10-12 inches across which would have to put its height at around the 6 foot range.
Sorry for my dodgy drawing by the way, I’m not as talented as Shazzoir.
It’s also worth noting that Katrina Tucker at first thought she was looking at a bear and when you look at the bent-over image it’s easy to see why, particularly because the legs are so thick and shapeless.
I suppose someone wearing at ghille suit over the top of a backpack/camelback might create the type of profile shown in the upright image but you’d probably expect to see a sharper outline where the boots would be.
Also, it’s too bloody hot up here for locals to bother purchasing and using a ghille suit. Pigs aren’t that hard to hunt and we don’t have flighty animals like deer so ghille suits are pretty much a novelty.
It’s possible some army lads or southern tourists were out having some fun but it does seem unlikely in this region. Probably just a good way to get yourself shot. Not ruling it out and Occam’s Razor would suggest it’s probably the most likely explanation.
Anyway, that’s my two cents worth but in any case it’s a very interesting photo.
Also, when looking through the I Am Aboriginal Facebook page they had a write-up on the Uki report along with a video of a dog engaging with some sort of huge wolf looking animal. Worth checking out.
