Re: Best Encounter of 2018
After listening to the audio interview this would have to be one of the most incredible encounters with one of these creatures here in Australia, right up there with the Woodenbong encounters from the 70s.Im sure some of our American brethren would be very interested in this report. I hope Wes from Satsquatch chronicles gets hold of this one. This blokes description of the creature seen from the length of a trucks bonnet is one of the best close up descriptions we can hope to get. Fantastic report, keep up the good work!

If I had a spare 10K and lived in QLD I would buy 100 units of trail cams and placed them everywhere; with the help from members of this forum of course. Its surely only a matter of time!Bluedog wrote: Sun Dec 23, 2018 7:48 am Truly an incredible encounter! I ride my motorcycle on this road often, I'm sure glad I didnt come across him! Like most of the roads in the Gold Coast hinterland it's not busy but there still is regular traffic, it's does make you wonder how a creature that has managed to elude us for so long makes such a rookie error.
One can only hope that it's just a matter of time before one is filmed by a dash cam.
Lucky this bloke was in a 10 tonne truck!

Just my 2c worth.Yowie bait wrote: Sun Dec 23, 2018 10:06 am Also, surely it would have heard the truck coming and could have easily avoided human contact if it wanted to? Maybe had enough of human b.s with the army base and whatever else they are doing up there. Frustration taken out on the poor unwitting truck driver now forever mentally scarred by the incident.![]()
I have been thinking about that point Yowie Bait for a while and my only reasoning is territorial display. The yowie noticed over a period of time that several vehicles (loud and intrusive to the yowie) seem to use this path (road) on a regular basis and over time, the yowie became agitated and lost its sense or predisposition in always avoiding human contact.
It must have decided in a territorial display to confront the next thing (person or vehicle) that decides to cross its territory. It could still be in close proximity to the area!!
Before I forget, thank you Dean and the gang for maintaining this excellent site.

Re: Best Encounter of 2018
In regard to not hearing the truck, I told Paul and Tony after being on location that I couldn't properly hear cars coming around the bend until they were extremely close. These were cars coming up the hill with higher Revs. The bend is so tight there is basically a hill with trees between one side and the other, blocking the sound.
Where the truck had pulled out, it was not far away from where the encounter occurred and he was drifting downhill at the time.
The sound of the truck may not have been heard until it was too late. But this means nothing at the end of the day, as these creatures who base their existence on not being found, seem to make really questionable mistakes such as running out in front of cars during the day and night that would clearly be optically and audibly obvious to anyone. Perhaps complacency. I know they get away with a lot due to their Human form, often being mistaken as Humans at a distance.
In this particular case, and having been to the location, I am leaning towards a creature that was already heavily obligated into the jump as the truck drifted around the bend.

Hi Dean. Maybe it had already committed to the jump as you say. It just seems so unlikely they would mess up like that since we have built them up to such stealthy all knowing beings but it does seem they can screw up or be tricked at times as you and others have said.Dean Harrison wrote: Wed Jan 30, 2019 8:07 am In regard to not hearing the truck, I told Paul and Tony after being on location that I couldn't properly hear cars coming around the bend until they were extremely close. One thing ive noticed from my own ( very limited!) experience is that a smaller one has been seen first before the larger one appears so i cant help but wonder if a smaller one is present in some of these full on sightings for distraction or territorial (dont EVER come back!!) purposes but not seen by the witness.
I dont discount the " embarrassed" expression followed by anger either. I dont think it pleases them at all to be seen like that whether they have screwed up or deliberately shown themselves for whatever reason.

I mean an unseen smaller juvenile being present could warrant a full on encounter or sighting.Yowie bait wrote: Wed Jan 30, 2019 10:45 amHi Dean. Lantana maybe?Yowie Chaser wrote: Mon Feb 04, 2019 12:31 am Has there been any sightings where the Yowie Has actually ran away, Pretty sure all the sighting reports ive heard they just walk away. could be wrong but.
Maybe it is distraction. I dunno why they would do that. The face skin and skull must be incredibly tough or thick.

Re: Best Encounter of 2018
Myself, Buck and our Witness went to the Witheren location on the Weekend.
After viewing Satellite images, is was hard to fathom where it was going. While looking around in the area it was last seem heading, we found Bee-Hives. It may have been an incentive. There is a military cyclone fence all along that side of the road, which it must have leapt over at some point. Also at the area where it crossed, the cyclone fence angles down into the bush like a corridor and comes back to the road again. It most likely ran down there before leaping over the fence. It was at the end of this corridor where the Bee-Hives are located.
Attached is a picture showing how high the head was and the height of its navel.
When back at my house, Buck sat with witness G and began a sketch based on the first hand observations. Its basically a more defined version of the original. They worked out the eyes were 35mm round and again like with many of our witness descriptions, the white of the eyes were black or very dark, with a hazel pupil. We look forward to seeing the end result.
I will try to find the time to do a Youtube at some stage.

I am starting to think once spotted they dont care if there been seen or not. Even the Patty Film she just looks around & walks of. Any other animal waits a bit to see if there been spotted then takes off.Yowie bait wrote: Mon Feb 04, 2019 7:36 amYes theresa few in the written Ayr reports i can think of.
