Hi Micathia,

I have been watching this with interest. Particularly the Bunyip State Forest and Dargo.

In fact I received an interesting email over the weekend regarding the brother of an actor who appeared on The Man from Snowy River who had an incident at Dargo many years ago - "Story about an encounter with a Yowie deep in the Dargo High Plains. The Horse master in the film "Man from Snowy River' has a brother who was asleep in the top bunk at the hut when he awoke the others screaming 'get it off me' - when the others stirred, the animal dropped to the ground and as it fled the hut it was briefly silhouetted in the doorway. About 4-5' tall, biped, hairy. It quickly disappeared into the bush".

It could be something we may chase up.

I believe these creatures are fully knowledgeable about bushfire, maybe have some better skills even to predict them or work out the fire direction etc. They could have accumulated these knowledge for generations.

So...they probably know how to get away from them. They might know several "safe spots" with water and breathing air when the bush fire coming.

I agree and am sure they would have seen much worse in the last few thousand years or so!

Hey all , I am going into my research spot on the weekend ( long weekend down here ) leaving Friday arvo back on Monday arvo , it is pretty much in the middle of this area , about 50ks west of the Bunyip State Forrest but attached by a green corridor , I normally start having success about this time of year , they tend to disappear during summer , so ill keep you informed if anything goes bump in the night

Not a thing out of place , I think it could be for any reason but it could be a bit early in the year ( they seem to disappear every summer ) my thoughts are that we are at the base of Mt Baw Baw so I think they come down during the winter when it snows and go up during summer where it would be cooler , just my thoughts as it has been this way for the 7 odd years ive been coming here also the area was still very very smokey with an area not too far away
still on fire , even my dog who really c#@ps herself if they are around had a relaxing weekend
The " highlight" of the weekend was 11pm on sunday night when a huge plane ( maybe a water tanker ) flew directly overhead just above the tree tops
Im coming into my quiet time at work so ill be going out lots more over the next few months
