Thanks Dee, Ron and Garreth, this is fascinating! Interesting the dog didn't react, but if the wind was blowing toward the object/thing, not too surprising if the dog was surrounded by other interesting bush scents. Looking forward to follow up!

I can see what you mean could be a deers head. This blown up image from the bottom of one of the pics is interesting..

Oh no, i hope its not pareidolia---only now did i see a" mut"dogs head when you blew this one up.Left of subject--think im going crazy!

Hi Shazz, as far as i am aware the dogs didnt react.

But good point on dogs.
Dogs are invaluable, they have far better instincts then humans, hence why we work them.
BUT they arnt useful in some situations. If the subject stood extremely quiet the dog would never know its there.
The wind must blow in the correct direction to pick up a scent (unless its powerful)
When we use dogs for tracking, we wait at least 10 minutes after decoy has gone to hide, this gives the grass time to" break" and let of aroma where the person walked. It is very difficult for the dog to track immediately after decoy has hidden. It has to be an exceptional tracking only dog to track immediately.

I have been in k9 work now for 5 years and even though the k9's are trained, sometimes they veer, get it wrong or lose concentration(if there still in training), so people need to know a dog will let u know whats about before you can hear or see them yourself if the situation is right.

Any dog trained or not will certainly do the job for you. Same with a non protection dog will still save its owners life--through loyalty.

I guess what i am saying is dont dismiss something if your pet dog doesnt pick up on something. The more you take it out to the same area the more the dog will pick up on the unusual NEW smells and noises its not familiar with out there.

In saying all that (if it makes sense) i do not promote people bringing there dogs out--to many stories of even the best hunting dogs not wanting to go near the hairy men.

Looks like the hairees can even outsmart mans best friend too.

Hey Dee it could all be nothing of course. I can see heaps of little faces in there which is typical for a blown up image. The thing i pointed out really does look like a little hairy man crouching down to me which is why i pointed it out but also could be nothing but the top of a log or stump.

Thats why its good to go back and examine the site and get a comparison shot, look for clues etc.

Because you know the hairys are in the area its worth checking out imo.

If we get fooled by paeredoilia then big deal. We have learned something. Anyone who claims to have not been fooled is talking out their backsides. I doubt anyone in this scene has a perfect record!

as he is not comfortable heading in there by himself and I agreed with him. I dont think i would either if he is onto something.
I will post as soon as we get out there with the findings.

Woo hoo, cant wait for the outcome ron--keep safe.Watch those ticks, leeches and dam snakes, oh and the yowies lol. I just found out the bushman spray we have been using is the wrong one--its only 20% deet, there is a much higher 1 on the market apparently. Even though ours say protects from ticks,leeches ectt..So maybe duck out and spray your body. Dont need doctor visits again. Bring back lots of piccies.Same angle, same steps away, same everything and maybe u stand next to the tree where the thing was and get a pic(if nothings there.) Good luck.

I have plenty of this type of stuff myself. It certainly makes your heart skip when you find it, but if it doesn't blink, move, or not caught out in the open, then it needs to be classified as Pareidolia. Still, its pretty cool.

Well Gareth and i went out to the area in question this afternoon and managed to fight off the leaches and came to the spot and low and behold it is a stump shaped like the head of a creature, it has to be the best piece of paredillia I have seen.
There were some strange structures nearby (branches inter woven) so we were both disapointed to say the least.

Great work following up on the image, it is a bit disapointing but at least we won't continue to speculate as to what it is.
