An apology...

This is a Soap Box section of our Forum where those who hold passionate views/opinions regarding various aspects of Theology, Creation, Religion, Paranormal etc - pertaining to the Yowie can be POLITELY debated, away from our mainstream friendly Yowie / Bigfoot Discussion Board.

Be kind to each other. Our standard rules of etiquette and behaviour apply in all areas of our Forum.

An apology...

Unread post by Pertys80 »

Well, it seems my little rant has created the kind of drama I so often despise. I'd like to apologise for any inconveniance I've caused anyone.
Yes I do have a Youtube channel, formerly known as BOTG Yowie Research NSW, and recently changed to Andrew's BOTG Yowie Quest. I felt the "research" label was a little too serious for my work, I take a pretty casual approach and dont want to tread on anyones toes by doing so. I treat it more like a hobbie, just like my fishing.
I'm a pretty laid back guy that normally steers clear of any controversy, but it seems I've just gone and started one..
For you old timers out there, Im sorry if I've offended anyone of you. I was only voicing my opinion, and I'm certainly not singling anyone out here..
Generally speaking, every forum I've been apart of whether it be UFO's, Hunting or Fishing, there was always a "Boys club" scene within them, I just wish this one was different.
I stood up for Paul and his work because I thought he was being unfairly judged, from what I can gather it was an intentional set up, for what reason I'm not sure..
Call me stupid, but I'd have anyone's back if I thought they were under the same kind of scrutiny.
Cheers

No need to apologise Pertys80,

Forums will always have blow-outs from heated discussion from time to time that's just what happens with forums, As long as mods keep on top of it. Written words in a forum can sometimes be misconstrued or interpreted the wrong way, meaning that some people will feel a bit emotional about it all.

Personally and sometimes I like just a good debate, to be able to spark a persona to get to the bottom of the matter (truth) while also trying not to get someone hot tempered is a difficult ask in this phenomena much like religion or politics people have hard views.

Anyway I hope people continue to ask questions and never accept anything as the truth unless it sits right with you, and the debates will continue, that's life!!!

Don't beat yourself up , we all have our moments , I spat the dummy here once and walked off with my bat and ball and had to crawl back .

I don't like that word either .

That's the right approach otherwise it will do your head in .
Lots of people start on the yowie road for lots of different reasons . The most promising "researchers" will be collecting facts , because without facts it's only an opinion or speculation .

The most blood boiling part for me is that hoaxers ruin lives . People actually get hurt , it's not a myth .

This guy here duped many forum members into parting with their money for a book of lies and even denied any wrong doing . "All I am going to say is that the cover image was taken from a genuine photograph from 1998; verified; and has been kept under "wraps"since then along with 3 others" . This was a complete lie and Sir Brett Green (BJGREEN) was exposed .

Pertys80, don't worry. The same bloke you defended once used me as a 'go between' here and I was deceived for the same reasons - I didn't know the full story and wanted everyone to give the bloke the time and opportunity to respond to his critics. It quickly became obvious that this bloke had no intention of doing that because he'd figured out that the game was up. People were asking questions about his evidence that he couldn't answer without admitting that he'd faked it. So he just didn't answer them, and still hasn't.

No one's going to hold it against you.

As I've said before, it doesn't matter who posts what - the evidence will always speak for itself regardless.

I also at one stage felt that Paul was getting the wrong end of the stick .
I voiced an opinion at the time and was accordingly shot down by those more knowledgeable in the intricacies of an online forum.
Not long after my position as a red member was reduced due to the possibility of many so called forum members not being who they appeared to be .
That was quite some time ago now , however my red status has not been returned.
I'll be sitting on the online fence from here on in and let the fools rush in .

Pertys80,

There have been lots of hoaxers caught out on here, as well as situations of honest misidentification exposed as such.

Some members here take the subject seriously, others don't, and others are mentally ill. Those that don't, (or are mentally ill like Paul) are more likely to hoax.

I don't care if the yowie turns out to be an undiscovered primate living in the Bush, a ghost, a nature spirit, a phantom, a being from another dimension, an alien from another planet, or a figment of all witnesses imaginations. I honestly don't care what it turns out to be and that should be the approach of everybody, but it isn't.

What I do care about is liars, deceivers, hoaxers, and manipulators who are happy to willingly muddy the waters of the research with trickster bullshit, make a travesty of the research, and set the research back.

Keep an eye out for mental illness and be aware fringe topics can and does attract this type of person and to try to accept that for such individuals, this may be a cry for help or attention.

Thanks for that mate I appreciate it, and yes questions always need to be asked. However, if the person being asked the question and chooses not to answer, it doesn't necessarily mean that person is guilty or deceitful..

Thanks for your insight Rusty, I was unaware of Brett Green and his book. I read the thread and it just seemed to stop, people were looming forward to the book then nothing.... I am aware of Bigfoot body hoax, that one duped a lot of people..
The thing is, I don't think these hoaxes can't be compared to Paul's work or "enhanced" Images for that matter.. He's not out there running to the media, or fleecing people of hard earned money..

Thanks Simon, your last sentence hit the nail on the head, I could'nt agree more..
Paul has posted many videos in the past where he see's things where I cannot, it certainly dosent mean ill hold that against him. There is far far worse stuff out there on Youtube.. There is one "Aussie" channel which I won't name, that supposedly has dozens of Dogman and Yowies in virtually every frame, and his subs only add fuel to the fire.. That being said, there aren't rules and guidelines to the world of Cryptozoology, common sense should reign supreme however..

What did you do wrong? Was it really that bad that you lost your status? See, that's the kind of stuff that really gets to me, its a forum ffs.
I know the thread I started upset a few, otherwise it wouldn't have been locked.. What happened to freedom of speech? Censorship certainly doesn't belong on forums either..

Lol.. I don't doubt fringe subjects attract certain people with mental illness, but how do you know it wasn't a related experience that triggered it in the first place?
IMO Its a little bit harsh to be throwing that tag around because you don't agree with how someone deals with a situation..
So all that being said, I might not see the stuff Paul see's but I feel his intentions aren't sinister. I'm not here to make enemies with anyone and Paul Mcleod isn't one either, he's always shown respect towards me and I'll leave it at that..
Cheers👍

I'm not being harsh towards Paul at all. Paul is ex army and will probably be the first to say he has PTSD.

Field research can actually be highly unhealthy, especially if you have been doing it a long time by yourself and getting nowhere.

Pertys80 I believe it is you who is owed an apology!
You were quite rudely accused of being someone else. Alot of the points you made are valid. (thumb up)
