Great report, husband and wife come across injured or dead yowie on the pacific highway.
These people know what they encountered, they give a detailed description.
Raises alot of questions.
Who hit it? What happened to creature? Was it carried away by its own kind? Did it manage to drag itself of the road?
Really gets you thinking!
We only hear of a very small percentage of encounters with these creatures, there has to be so many that aren't reported.
I find this encouter fascinating!
2 witnesses who know exactly what they seen. They have no doubt that they came across a dead or Injured yowie (they described it as a very large primate)

Hi Bluedog, these reports seem to be getting stranger by the day. Not just a sighting; then we're left with all these other questions as you say.
What's the next report going to be, a Yowie hitch hiking !
The people said it was big enough to wreck the front of their car so I wondered if they thought about stopping and warning other motorists coming behind.
They may have been scared and freaked out. I don't want to judge them as I can't say for sure that I would have stopped and gone back in the dark.
Bit of a moral dilemma. Hopefully our hairy friend eventually left the road way. If it didn't, there must be other witnesses.

Old mate was a truck driver Driver, said he had seen his share of Rd Kill.
Looked to be 7 to 9 ft curled up, no signs of blood, they thought maybe it had been clipped by a truck.
They said they couldn't stop had a trailer & where worried about other cars running into them.

Next sighting will be a Yowie stealing an Ambulance lol. now that will be good.

Hey Dean, i fully believe them, i just wished they stopped to see what it was & had taken photos, so i can get back to a normal life lol.

Just asked a mate who drives trucks if he heard anything about this Yowie at Newry..thinks im nuts now lol

He said there on the look out for guys committing suicide, jumping in front of there Trucks & driving there cars head on in to them.CRAZY

Great sighting and report.

She said the shoulders were 900 high. I figure thats mm. Thats almost three feet across. (35 inches) Arnold Schwarzenegger at his biggest was 27 inches on his shoulder span. He was 6'1" and 230lbs. Imagine the size of this big boy. For relative comparison. Andre the giant (not particularly muscular) was 7'1" and 440lbs and only has 24 inch shoulders. Shaquille O'Neal at the same height only got to 28 inches across the shoulders.

At 35 inches across this thing must have been truly huge. Not likely a human. Had to be a yowie.nm

I would think the majority of today's trucks have dashcams. If that Yowie was clipped by an unknown truck as suggested, it is not inconceivable that stunning footage could emerge down the track. Also, there would almost certainly be a dent or minor impact damage to anything that collided with that huge hairy man.

Another thought: Perhaps this incident also puts a small dent in the case for a paranormal Yowie. IMHO, anything that can go down with a KO blow like this cannot belong to the realms of the supernatural. Arnie famously said in the Predator movie "If it bleeds, we can kill it". Substitute 'can be knocked out' for bleeds and here is a case strongly suggesting a flesh and blood animal.

If this event is true then the Yowie was hit by a truck and not by a car. A creature that size if hit by a car would have caused a catastrophic accident.
I find it a bit difficult to believe that a Yowie known for its speed and agility could not have avoided being hit by a truck. Once again no body, no report.
Having said this I'm not denying that it may have been hit by a truck laying on the side of the road severely injured or dying. But I'll give you a little insight into my belief. Hit by a truck (physical) getting up and walking off (supernatural). Waiting to hear any further correspondence on this report.

Would it be plausible that other yowies (family members) dragged it off the highway ?

Don't worry Senses , I've seen the strange part of this hoby in person , but no one on this earth can say "it is" or "it isn't" this or that .
We all have our own beliefs but until there are facts and evidence to support any hypothesis , all anyone can do is guess and my guess is as legitimate as yours .

As strange as this is, I know that part of the highway fairly well. Even in daylight you would have to be careful pulling off the side of the road and I too would be worried about being hit from behind. And finding somewhere to turn around can be super hard with north and southbound lanes separated. That part of this country sure is great habitat for them so no reason why others wouldn't be there to get it off the road. Yes It is a shame there are no photos, etc but until you have had an encounter, you can't imagine how frightening it is so I don't blame them for not trying to go back even if they could.

"Hit" by any type of vehicle, from a small car to a big truck, doesn't necessarily mean a deadly catastrophic head-on accident - it could be just a slight sideswipe or anything in between.

You are not safe in the bush particularly alone or in dense uninhabited forests. According to Dean Harrison, he believes there are thousands of Yowies up and down the east coast of Australia I don't know if he still holds this theory but if so you quite possibly have been sighted without you knowing it.

These creatures are not afraid of humans or friendly so don't get a feeling of false security when you are out there amongst them.

Many people have gone missing in Australia and some bodies have been found in puzzling situations much like Missing 411 in the US. I do believe the police reports could reveal a lot more information than the public will ever know about.
Not saying all these disappearances are due to Yowie intervention but all scenarios have to be considered especially when we are confronted with inexplicable explanations.

I believe that most are not dangerous though. Many people's encounters have been in situations where they would have been exceptionally vulnerable to a 9 foot giant with rippling pecs who snaps trees like twigs, but mostly come away scared, but completely unharmed. That doesn't mean some aren't vicious S.O.B.'s like the one that lives in the Pilliga Scrub...
