It's also worth asking this: what's the cost of Bigfoot?
If National Parks, Governments (local, state, federal) and other relevant authorities had to police wilderness areas to prevent people actively going out to try and see/encounter/hunt these things then it could get expensive really quickly. Just think of the cost of insurance, signage, staff training, public awareness campaigns, everything. Not to mention the fact that you might scare off tourists if they think they're at risk from these creatures. Then there'd be the environmentalists who'd demand logging be halted due to the presence of unidentified creatures whose habitat is being destroyed, etc...the list is almost endless.
My opinion is that Bigfoot would cost more money than it could ever possibly be worth in terms of people wanting to profit from them. Once their presence is accepted it becomes a legal and financial issue, and a matter of 'risk management' for the authorities.
I tend to think this is why no work is really being done in this field by the authorities. What they don't know about they don't have to pay for, so the official line is that these things do not exist. Or perhaps it's already being investigated but kept very quiet.

With the amount of gear you need to buy to properly research and all the camping equipment that you aquire
to use while your out in the field tends to add up to $1000s. So I'd say the camping stores get alot of income from Yowie Researchers. Any electrical equipment that one tends to buy like night vision or thermal camera's to trail cameras costs alot too. So yes Yowie and Bigfoot researching helps the economy.

This is a great question Bluedog
The mind boggles, Bigfoot protection insurance offered to those who enter National Parks is the first thing that comes to my mind.

This is one of the thousand questions governments have no answer so they rather tell people they don't exist.
Are they Human? or are they animals?
If they are animals, yes they will have a price, it will be determined by the "market". They might be needed for someone's private zoo? or they might be needed for drug experiment? weapon experiments etc?
If they are humans, then not only they don't have a price tag, more questions need to be answered too, do they have citizenship? property ownership? medicare cover? rights to have sex with ..... us? and then what if a hybrid baby is born? a loop of questions will be created. Do the hybrid have citizenship?
