I was driving through Binnaway yesterday on my way back from the Pillaga Scrub and i happened upon the river there.
I didn't really plan on doing any videos but as I started looking around... one thing led to another.
Check out the play list i created. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... bP-nt2JKo5
Forgive me for the bad audio on some of them - i didn't realise the wind was blowing on the mic.
I had no equipment to do anything like that even if that thought had crossed my mind. But what would be the point. It would have been the victim of a yowie but not a yowie itself right?
G'day Thumper, good to see you've got a few vids there mate, just subbed..
Next time you come across some suspect piles of blood, grab a stick , take a sample and give it a whiff..
Could very well be the sap from a bloodwood, look up in the tree to check for spots where it could be leeching from..

When I was a kid I spent a lot of time in the bush and came across gum trees oozing what appeared to be dark red resin giving the impression of blood.
Luke 8:17 KJV: For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
Blood wood sap? Wow that does look similar. But if you look at the video the ‘blood’ is actually on the grass at the base of the tree? Also that tree doesn’t look like the same species. Sanity check me here!
I'd expect to see ants, flies, etc - or even some trace of tissue (internal) or skin/fur if it were blood - and it might be darker by the time you see it.
Sap sounds plausible. Blood sounds like you may be, um, barking... up the wrong tree.
You might be right. If i wasn't 5 hours away from Binniway now, I'd go back and have a close look.
But my point still stands... that blood or sap looked to be on the grass at the base of the tree...not the tree itself.
