Bigfoot investigation with unlimited resources?????

With literally thousands of reports, footprints, video and photographs one would be naive to think the American government haven't investigated the phenomenon thoroughly.
With their unlimited resources and budget, elite military units and scientists its hard to believe that if bigfoot exists (I believe without a doubt they do) that they haven't collected evidence or a specimen.
Quite possibly there is a bigfoot body in a laboratory or alive in captivity being studied in America!
If the American government chose to disclose what they know about the subject most of our questions would be answered.
But what if anything would they have to gain from disclosure????

As I understand it, since the 1940s the US Department of the Interior has had a mandate to oversee their own paramilitary broom squads charged with cleaning out hotspots where human/BF interaction has not gone well for us. Numerous necropsies have been done since that time but none in recent memory, since enough is enough. But their lips are sealed. Back then a Harvard trained MD was supposed to have been tasked with the lab work, but who knows if that account could be trusted? Numerous retired military personnel have come forward with their in-country stories in recent times but, again, what is fact and what is fiction?
