Scientific findings of ancestor existence in Oz
Hello,
I thought you all might like to read this somewhat new scientific finding of ancestral habitation in Oz.
As I understand it, the scientific consensus up until these new findings were that our ancestors dated back to about 60,000 years ago, give or take 10,000 years, here in Oz. (Not the Oz we know but a former attached land mass with northern land mass)
But now this 11 year study in Victoria dates our ancestors (term used loosely) to 120,000 years ago. This is deemed controversial. (I don’t have the bigger understanding)
However, in the article they mention a few other scientific findings which also seem to corroborate this new finding....... these are.....
The Papuan link of 2% of ancestor heritage (thru genome sequencing) coming from the south (Oz) and from an unknown and presumed extinct heritage.
And 2 other environmental studies that had findings revealing probable ancestors dating back to about 130,000 years ago, in south Oz and QLD. They further clarified that until now, scientists had largely ignored these findings.
I also read somewhere else and cannot recall where at this time that there is 1% of DNA unaccounted for (a possible existence of other human ancestor) in indigenous peoples from Australia.
Sorry about my loose terms/terminology/language. I’m not a scientist but I love science!
Here is the article on the study.......

I believe that All of the jigsaw pieces will fall into place sooner than we think.
Thank you for reading.

Thanks CuriousCat, it was a good read. Also the scientific papers also provide valuable evidence in this area, also not accepted by the larger scientific community. Re the researchers finds, pity no human remains were found. This potential shift in scientific thinking, although from a small proportion of the scientific community, is at least a great start. Others will follow whether to confirm or deny their findings, so there may be more evidence forthcoming. It is exciting reading.

It wasn't meant to be a hurtful comment Senses , it was meant to highlight the constant moaning /whining / poopooing every post that offends your intelligence .
Yes , we all know you have an opinion and we'd like to respect everyone's opinion on here , however , poopooing each post that you disagree with is becoming extremely annoying .
Please refrain from doing this in the future , it turns each new topic into a
fight about how your offended . It's not just you on here and everyone's opinion is relevant .

Re: Scientific findings of ancestor existence in Oz
I agree Rusty, Senses I respect your viewpoint however don't agree with everything. Likewise I don't agree with everything the Flesh and Blood believers say. I don't believe we know enough to say for sure (there is much happening in this space) - I remain on the fence. What I do know is that the bantering does get too much, I have also noticed many people, and long term contributors, have stopped providing constructive input and may have moved on - a real pity. When I commenced viewing/contributing on this site (and not too long ago) we discussed more related to their behaviour, sightings, proactive research, etc (it was extremely interesting and informative) - now every thread seems to go down the line of in what form do they exist, abuse and some posts can get quite heated and down-right rude. Yes important (yowie form), but sometimes you have to move on to proving it one way or the other. In addition, Senses this post is not directed at you personally, I direct this to everyone. We are all passionate about the subject, otherwise we would not be on the site.
I would like to go back to discussing more practical and constructive topics. People have tried and just given up (me included). Do we want to create a forum where people want to participate or just scare people away. Lets work together.

You are right Rusty2 I will stay off this section of the forum because I do find it annoying and disagreeable, I'll stick to the AYR - Yowie Controversial, Conjecture and Fringe Subject Matter Discussion and enjoy watching the views on my thread continue to climb.
It's fairly obvious what is the preferred viewing by people outside this forum and it's definitely not the academic opinions.

Re: Scientific findings of ancestor existence in Oz
Hey Curious Cat
There's a couple of articles out there that show the possibility of humans leaving Africa far earlier than initially thought.
This article talks about a discovery in Greece of a H.sapiens dated to 210k years.
There's still a large portion of the fossil record that is undiscovered and new discoveries are being made all the time in paleoanthropology.

Hi Slats,
Thank you so much for that link. I found it very interesting to read.
After reading your link, I then hit on another link that found modern humans / Homo Sapiens, as old as 300,000 years old.
This is what I love about science, it's the constant redefining and testing and learning and evolving. <---- do you see what I did there?

I do like to share these things with others and I do like this forum. I like healthy, intelligent banter too.
Thank you again Slats. I appreciate your inclusiveness.

No Worries mate, I also enjoy a good constructive debate with the banter. It's the only way we can further our knowledge of the field.CuriousCat wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2020 7:13 pm Hi Slats,

I think It's important to follow the archeological and paleoanthropological articles as there's a hell of a lot of information that can be learnt about possible origins of the Yowie.
Cheers
