Animal spirits

Unread post by Cricket »

Hi all

My dog passed away about a year and half ago now. We had him pts in our yard. The night before he died we let him sleep in our room but found him asleep at my son's bedroom door where he always slept. For the next couple weeks after he slept I kept hearing the same light tapping/movement he always made outside my son's door at night. I kept thinking O that's my dog then would realise he was not with us, investigate and nothing would be there. I would also get sensation he was in the kitchen or lounge with us. Then about two weeks later it was as if I didn't feel him there at all. Didn't hear back he sounds nothing. I am not sure if it was my mind imagining it but I was 100% convinced he was in the house and then two weeks later nothing.

So after that long winded post, has anyone had a similar experience after a pet has passed away? Thanks

yes! very similar, i'd wake up hearing my old girls nails clicking on the wood floors walking up the hallway. Obviously physically not there but always with me in spirit. I also would find black hairs of hers in the house even tho i was a clean freak. She was always looking after us like she did for 16 years (love)

I watched Ghosts of Britain this morning on FB and they seemed to have captured the spirit of a little dog.
I would go as far to say it was a wee terrier.
Some subscribers even screen shot it and you could actually see it was a blurry image of a little dog????

Very interesting photos. It's nice to think animal spirits stay with us. I really do not feel like my old dog is here anymore but I was 100% sure he was for a few weeks at least. I am not sure because I was so sad at the time I really wanted him to be here/imagined it or if being so sad made me more in tune to things that I normally wouldn't be as I'm too busy to notice.

Our dog was the cornerstone of our family. He went through thick and thin with us. He knew it was time to go, but a family member with a bit of OCD wanted him to exit on his birthday. One night I dreamt our dog said to me, ' It's time'. Next morning, I called the vet. That day, we took our dog to the beach and let him wander (on a leash) smelling all those enticing scents, peeing on everything upright, etc. He was a strong little guy. If not for the cancerous growth visible at his mouth, you'd never know he was anything other than a vigorous, normal dog pulling strongly at the lead in order to get to the next scent. He never complained. Tough little 16 year old

The vet arrived on time. We didn't know how we'd cope with it but knew it had to be done. Our dog was lying in his basket. He looked up as the vet unpacked his gear. When the vet brought out his clippers, switched them on, our dog put out his paw. Uncanny. As if he knew exactly what was going on and was keen to get on with it

Only took a brief while to clip away the fur. Then the needle. Our dog went with it, no protest. He must have known

It was too quick. We imagined we'd have ten minutes with our dog as the injection took effect

but it was almost immediate

From his body rose a see-through column. Very fast. Up and gone

My son, in his late teens, couldn't contain an agonised cry, calling our dog's name

I reached out to my son, knowing there was nothing that could be said or done

It had all been to fast, too final. The kids were in shock and sobbing

The vet left

I quickly followed him, to thank him

The vet was standing by his van. He was visibly upset. It's my belief he'd seen the column of our dog's spirit flying upwards. A day or two later, the vet sent us a deeply thoughtful card and message. I believe what he'd witnessed had affected him

I believe beyond doubt that our dog's spirit departed him in visible form. Speed of light. I saw it. Didn't expect to. Shocked and enlightened me. My only reason for posting is to assure others to trust that our pets possess a spirit, no matter what anyone has to say to the contrary

Two or so nights later, when I got into bed, there was an unexplainable warm patch at the end of the bed. No electric blanket to explain it. Nothing had been placed in that spot to explain it either. It was just there, where our dog used to sit. Ever loyal

I wanted him to have a rest after all those years of looking after us and after all the pain he'd been through, all the things he'd suffered

So, out of love, I told him/his spirit there on the bed, to go now. Run free. Sniff everything he wanted to. Play with other dogs. No more pain or worry. Just go and enjoy. No need to come back here to where we were, out of loyalty or sense of duty. He'd given us so much happiness. Now, we wanted him to run free and happy

Never again felt the warmth on the bed, much as I might have wanted to. But I trust he and I and all our pets, will one day meet again
