Yowie yowls again
"YOWIE YOWLS AGAIN"
'Springbrook beast has men on edge' - Gold Coast Weekend Bulletin, March 3-4, 2007
Anyone catch the report in the Weekend Bulletin this morning? Apparently on Tuesday morning, two tradesman working on a house built on newly-cleared land in Springbrook, were 'startled by what they say was a bizarre cry that rose from the dense rainforest behind the property.'
'Painter Jeremy Armstrong was on the balcony when he heard an 'indescribable' scream, which he could only liken to a bear.
"I was standing out there painting and just heard a growl, something I've never heard before....I used to go shooting and know what (animal) sounds like what."
He turned to the builder, who seemed relieved that someone else had heard the blood-curdling scream.
"He said 'at least I'm not the only one who has heard that now'," said Mr Armstrong. "There's not an animal that could make that sound."
The men continued work at the site, trying not to think about what creature might be lurking in the rainforest beyond.'
The paper then goes on to mention that 'the encounters coincide with the release of a new book documenting the yowie legend around Australia. The Yowie: In search of Australia's Bigfoot was released this month by veteran researchers Tony Healy and Paul Cropper."
They almost suggest that this was a publicity stunt. Dickheads.
This encounter follows two incidents in the same area last month. In the first, Chinese tourists were spooked by 'inhuman' noises at the Best Of All lookout. I've heard some trippy stuff there myself, and a mate on mine had had objects thrown at him.
Thought you guys would be interested.

I was speaking with Gary Opit yesterday and he told me that he was called in to investigate that encounter. He also said that they had found the creature’s nest, but on inspection after about 2 or 3 hours wandering around in the bush there Gary said that he could find no further evidence of a Yowie. He said to me that he had seen some possible footprint indents in the humus, but nothing else.
The funny thing was that I was ringing Gary up about an unrelated large animal sighting in NSW when he told me about this one.
Believe it or not the sighting reported to me was that of a Hyena. True story. There have been a few reports of late up that way of animals that look like hyenas'. I am starting to suspect that the sightings may be of Thylacoleo's as the descriptions can be very similar. Fingers crossed.

It could be, he didn't seem too happy about trespassers on his land. Lucky they didn't go any closer. If a nest was found nearby, who knows what could have happened if they went exploring. I know for a fact that I wouldn't like to be caught in the way of a yowie defending it's home.
Paul, I've never heard of Thylacoleo sightings before.....that is incredible. If someone says they've seen a hyena, what else could it be? I suppose Australia is large enough and uninhabited enough for something like that to go undetected. Especially if there was a very small population. Are all the sigtings you are aware of consistant and from the same areas?

Yes, there have been a few good sightings forwarded to me over the years. Not so long ago there was an excellent sighting by a German Couple on a beach in WA of a possible Thylacoleo carcass (Most probable).
Gary Opit was telling me on Saturday that the dentition of that animal almost perfectly matched that of the Thylacoleo. In fact I have a short 2-second video on my web site of what I believe to be a Thylacoleo. It was taken in 1994 in the Charleville area. And it was certainly Alive and Well!!!

Yep!! When I ran him, he was sitting at the top of one of the waterfalls at Springbrook, while he was waiting for one of his tour groups to come back. Tough job.

Thanks Paul, ive been meaning to take him up on an offer but havent had the time, ive heard some people saying he doesnt anymore so its good to hear from the 'horses mouth' so to speak
One thing you have to consider with sightings is an amount of people in the basic area / time of year. More people in a given area at a time of year "should" yeald more, rather than a low amount of people at the oposit time of year.
Not anything that would count. I have been up their but nothing in a researching capasity.Romeo wrote:Hey Mikka, have you been out to Springbrook lately?
I wonder if the string of recent sightings up there has something to do with the time of year.

Re: Yowie yowls again
hey i just found out that this message bord exsists..
my name is jeremy armstrong and i was the painter up at springbrook that is mentioned in the newspaper
had i of known how much c**p i was going to cop about it i would never of agreed to talk to the paper
...to set a few records straight, it was not a publicity stunt...i was unaware of the book supposedly published around the same time
nor was i scared or intimidated by the sound ...more curious than anything else....hense the reason i spoke to the builder about it
as everyone is aware the reporters for local newspapers have an active and creative imagination and from the little amount of information i gave them they constructed a story..
i spoke to two (experts) while i was working onsite , they visited the same day as the newspaper
if anyone genuinly wants anymore information regarding this topic feel free to contact me..
cheers and happy hunting

Hey Jeremy.
Maybe you'd like to post a report of the event in your own words?
Would love to hear it.

...hey Jeremy... welcome... it's a pity that you have copped some flak for speaking up in the first place... being ridiculed by relatives/mates or nieghbours is never comfortable at any time...
... but firstly as Stainmaster has pointed out ... well done on finding us!... I hope you continue to come here and enjoy the ten trillion posts within all the categories on here!...
... secondly... I'm with iwanttobelieve... writing your own account of the event... (no matter how brief)... would be a great thing to do ...it will show others who do report these events what to expect regarding the media distorting the actual facts as in this case with yourself... (the media can be mongrels when they want to be)...
... as I said before Jeremy... don't be a stranger on these forums... as you will find out... they are a great bunch of people that frequent and participate in these forums... you'll love it!... cheers... Stickyfingers.

While reading through this thread I checked out the link posted by Big Cats and was surprised to find this image.
A close friend of mine was driving across the Nullarbor years ago and he confided in me about seeing a creature at night and his description was remarkably similar to this image. Unfortunately he has now passed away so I can't get his feedback on this image and can only go off what he told me.
He described it as being much larger than a dog with broad shoulders, hunched like a hyena but walked with much more purpose. The front legs appeared higher and more solid than the back legs and the gait was similar to how a gorilla would walk on four legs. He remembered that as it was moving away from him it peered around its shoulder to look back in his direction and it clearly wasn't like anything he had seen before.
He was quite rattled by the sighting and could never explain it except to say it looked like a hyena on steroids, but wasn't a dog, and appeared to be malevolent.
Is anyone familiar with similar sightings or reports?

That pic, I think it was in the states? Supposidly some kind of extinct Timber Wolf. Interesting through, considering we're going up that way in a few weeks. Not only do we have to worry about our old hairy friend, but possibly some kind of big sodding wolf type thing.. that's awesomeiwanttobelieve wrote:Hi All.Big Cats wrote:Hillbilly
