Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
Because this is moving into the realm of paranormal, I thought it best to start a new thread. The below is from the Main Yowie Theme thread re "What thing is that" (see below). Firstly, I would like to state I believe in the paranormal - however, I also believe that some paranormal is not what it seems.
Re a definition of paranormal - The word consists of two parts: para and normal. The definition implies that the scientific explanation of the world around us is 'normal' and anything that is above, beyond, or contrary to that is 'para'. Isn't the yowie paranormal to most people, something that cannot be explained (re our limited belief system). For most paranormal events, someone will have an explanation or just fob it off as a hoax. Most of this is dependant on your own belief system or through hands on experience, etc.
In many indigenous societies the spiritual world is utilised a lot for things that/they cannot be explained. Is a yowie a spirit or is it something that has amazing abilities - some might say paranormal some might say hundreds of/or thousands of years worth of evolution. There are certain indigenous communities that also believe the hairymen are real life beings. In saying this if you believe all the witness sightings there are instances which could not be explained as the norm - or could it.
If you look at the paragraphs below and the thread started by creeper who was fishing and hearing the roar, etc you can see how certain beliefs can manifest. I guess you could say this is a rationale look at the subject but I really am not sure. Whether you believe in normal, paranormal, spirits, religious teachings and the like - for every proposed answer there is a counter answer. I guess the best answer is to keep an open mind to everything until we can say for certain. You could write a book on this subject, these few paragraphs just don't seem to give this topic justice.

Was just doing a quick search re related info to this thread, you may find it interesting (just a cut and past of some of the text) ... (note the TC refers to different participants to maintain anonymity, e.g. TC1 or TC14, etc).
"This comment indicates the ways in which Aboriginal Custodians draw together spiritual beliefs and connections to country. The same Custodian explained that our spirituality is not based on a structured religion, it's based on our connection to land (TC11). Custodians also sometimes referred to Dreamtime stories in the process of defining the broader cultural and spiritual significance of their connections to country.
Aboriginal cosmology is embedded in all aspects of the natural environment. A Traditional Custodian explained the interconnection of spiritual beliefs and country by saying [a] the waterways are significant because… our dreamtime and creation stories are all encompassed around the waterways, the mountains, the coastal areas (TC14).
Others referred to their experiences in particular places within country with spiritual beings like the moondagudda, junjadees (TC1), and the tall man (TC14). g Spirits such as these, that exist in (land and water) country, uide the behaviour and decisions of some participants who expressed a key principle in respecting those spirits. For example, certain practices must be conducted, including talking to [the] ancestors (TC7) when visiting the river, to show respect to those spirits.
Another participant described a practice they undertake when fishing, associated with ancestor spirits: After they'd caught their fish, they would have to rebury the bones back in the bank where they caught the fish. So that next time, there'd be more fish to catch for them to eat (TC14).
Customary practices, such as mentioned above, convey respect for non-human beings in the country and indicate that spiritual beliefs are important to Custodians wanting to ensure the health of ecosystems".

Interesting rowbe but notice the emphasis is placed on spiritual beings. Exactly what the indigenous people call them “Yō-wī” a spirit that roams over the earth at night.
No confirmation bias BS that one other forum member suggested just straight out facts.

Re: Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
If Indigenous people the world over weren't forced to abandon their own religions or beliefs and follow mainstream white folks religion after the various "colonizations" maybe the Indigenous religions would still be doing their thing and none of this stuff would be "paranormal" at all. It would just be the way it is.
Aboriginal and Native American tribes have lore going back thousands of years on this stuff but we show up and start over and redefine everything to suit us and our ways.
Even science says we humans can only see a fraction of what is around us. Technology is our thing. We can hunt and fish all we want but we don't belong in the bush anymore cause we have cities.
Maybe humans are just very ordinary and the "paranormal" is actually the normal?

That was a awesome little paragraph u posted in my thread as i said when i head out to the land council meeting im going to bring it up and see what is said also being a different area with different clans and beliefs it will be interested to see what is said about that also
My thoughts on the whole thing is
some abilities these creatures have that would be from living in the bush for so long
normal abilities u or i could get if we took off and lived in the bush for the rest of our lives just alot better obviously just look how good a sniper csn hide after years of training
The whole strength side of things would come down to the size of the creatures
The speed side of things could also come down to the size and that they would be able to walk and run around in the bush like we do in every day life
I recon they have infrasound
From a couple of things that have happened to me i recon thats a possibility and that could account for alot of experiences people have because if u look it up you will see what it can do to u
You will see tigers elephants and i cant remember what other animals use infrasound
They talk about police and military use it and what they can do with it
My thoughts about the other paranormal stuff that comes up are if there is a belief yowies/bigfoot are related to us and people see ghosts and spirits of people and u look at the experiences and run ins people have with ghosts
maybe this explains the paranormal side of yowies they could be running into ghost or spirits of them 2
Or they are aliens and im never leaving the house again

Yes we are very ordinary compared to these beings their normal abilities to levitate, disappear, transfigure, move at the speed of light but apparently I'm the only one that sees this as paranormal.Yowie bait wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 5:01 pm

Re: Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
Hi Creeper, I dont think anything that would live in the bush for even thousands of years could adapt and make certain changes. It doesnt matter how long a sniper stays in the bush will never have the capabilties of stuff like shapeshifting, dissapearing, touching people while invisable just to mention a few.
The speed of these things i dont believe either helps because of there size, to me it would hinder them being so big trying to miss trees and what not, there sheer size would bound to leave foot prints everywhere. They levitate slightly of the ground. I first thought they were flesh and blood and flogged of the paranormal, then thought somehow they were both f& B and para only because of sightings of both. Then i changed my mind and thought they were simply ghosts, just like people see ghosts manifest into a real life person, they could also touch people, dissapear at will, flick lights on and so forth.Sometimes you see them, sometimes you dont.
But after so much research and communications with the hairees, i had come to realise they are 1 smart being or whatever they are lol. They are extremely intelligent, they know us, they know our thoughts, without you knowing they change the direction of your walk, they know when there is a new person in your group , every single person that i bring out new i tell that person, when we get out of the car 1 will throw a stone around your knee, there just telling us they know your new. They want to see if you fear it or not. And without fail this has happens everytime.
( I have noticed if they are religous, the hairees dont come near). If one wants to bring a gun, there vehicle gets a boulder thrown on there roof. 2 people had a gun and rocks were only thrown between both of those guys. These hairies arnt stupid. They like routine and they stick to it.They dont live here, wheres the evidence?, they come here, they play, watch us, scare us or communicate with us, purposely leave the odd footprint behind, push large trees over so on our way out we have to climb over them, they want to show us they have the strength.
This stuff aint from books, this stuff is all from my own experiences. And others have experienced this stuff all over the world, i will never believe they are f& B. My experiences have shown they are para. Wheres the scientific explanation)Personally i dont go on the Aboriginals "dream time stories" , i want to see this stuff myself.
Im on with you with the aliens ( and dogmen for that) i wouldnt leave my house either lol. I think its simple, you were kayaking, the hairy noticed you, roared and come up on you thrashing about to get you to clear out of his area. You obliged and left. I know its bloody tough but stand your ground, even for 1 minute, c if he throws something toward you, bang the rock, stick (or whatever it has thrown) on your kayak, then throw it back at the subject and see what happens, you may be suprised OR you will kayak faster then you have ever kayaked before to get out lol. But thats how you can work out a little more about these creatures. Easy for me to say, im not there and these creatures can swim. Anyway good luck with your adventures. Dee

Re: Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
Hey mate u have some good points but could it be as simple as there is paramornal ones and just plain flesh and blood ones 2 like i said there is us and there is ghosts and spirits of us y cant there be both of the them
I no that is the easy way out but im extremely claustrophobic so that about as far as iv head down the rabbit hole so far
My thoughts are just based of my experiences and the way iv interpreted wats gone on iv had some stuff happen when iv thought wtf is going on here but untill i see any of the stuff u guys talk about thats my opinion on it
Yer i should be trying these things but it gets hard when your out by yourself up a river usually 30 min to 2 hour paddle from the car with no services and a missus and kids waiting around at home for u
When i had the roars going on i would of been there for about 2 mins i didnt take off straight away as i was bringing the fish in and trying to release it then by the time i did and it started roaring harder
As the fish went in the water something told me to go now or ill die and thats when i turned around and paddled back
I have a thought on y it may of rushed down the bush and started to roar at me but it might be a bit silly
For anyone thats into lure fishing they would know about the curado dc reel
Well long story short its got a microchip in it that when u cast it calculates the strength of the cast the speed of the line coming off the reel and the wind resistants so u can cast further and harder with less backlash anyway when i rip out a big lure and really cast it hard the microchip makes the squealing noise and it sounds weird
maybe its heard that and come to investigate

Re: Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
Yes, agreed, i want to make it home each time as my dogs are waiting for me lol. As you go out more you may realise these creatures have a great sense of smell and hearing. Most of the time there will be a "Watcher"I struggle to think it heard your equipment, it would have known you were coming well before throwing that lure or if it was busy, you suprised it. Im only saying this on my own experiences. We actually suprised 1, only once. The thing bolted like a bulldozer across us smashing down the trees, it stopped later, turned and looked back on us, the eyes of it was seen. Our usual spot the hairees hear my car coming down the dirt road and they are waiting in the bush for us to get out of the car . Its a long dirt windy road going deep down to the area we enter. I wouls say you stayed put after kayaking, started to fish, it wanted you gone and roared louder to scare you and you left.Dont blame you for not staying, we leave to when we get that death feeling. Im sure you will have many more experiences to come and great to hear of your experiences you have had so far.Thecreeper wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 9:24 pm Hey mate u have some good points but could it be as simple as there is paramornal ones and just plain flesh and blood ones 2 like i said there is us and there is ghosts and spirits of us y cant there be both of the them

Yer the whole trip was weird i was going somewhere else and at the last second i was like stuff it im going to this spot instead
I hadnt been there befor my father in law said i should try it when he was a kid they would go swimming there anyway driving through the gate my spotify skips straight to a song that said something along the lines of you no that its a bad idea and once this thing started to roar that was the first thing that came into my head it must of been a warning and when i got that feeling of go now or u will die im wondering now if that might be to do with my aboriginal heritage and being in the bush because it wasnt like i thought it something inside told me go or u will die
Yer i always think of the old saying about sharks when i think of yowies
For every 1 of them u see 8 of them have already seen u
Yer i think me and my family did that to one at our family farm i dont think it expected us to walk near it in the dark without a decent torch watever it was went crazy smashed up a willow tree threw a branch at us and i dunno if it took of coz we ran for it im not much of a typer and using the phone makes it worse thats 1 of the reasons i did the podcast with brent from paranormal portal to talk about some of my experiences and encounters with things it was the first time i did anything like that i loved it

I think that the cover up is the best evidence of all that there is something fishy about the Yowie.
If its just an Australian bush ape as a mate of yours likes to call it then why is it not categorized like other apes? If they are hairy "men" then it shouldn't affect developers or land clearing. Never stopped them clearing Aboriginal land before or putting bottle shops in grog free communities etc etc.
Odd to me that it so covered up.

Maybe humans are just very ordinary and the "paranormal" is actually the normal?Yowie bait wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 5:01 pm Aboriginal and Native American tribes have lore going back thousands of years on this stuff but we show up and start over and redefine everything to suit us and our ways.
So we show up and try to force our own theories of what Sasquatch/Bigfoot/Yowies/Dogma are none of which are paranormal. Native Americans, Australian Indigenous folk all refer to these creatures as being spirits/mystical they have witnessed their incredulous abilities. So we roll up and tell them nope there is a perfectly logical explanation they are all flesh and blood creatures although we have no idea of their origins once again non-indigenous folk showing their arrogance implying we know best and you can put this silly notion of a paranormal being out of your minds once and for all.
Yes we are very ordinary compared to these beings their normal abilities to levitate, disappear, transfigure, move at the speed of light but apparently I'm the only one that sees this as paranormal.Yowie bait wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 5:01 pm

You just gotta look at how many sightings are around army barracks and national parks that dont permit over night camping and have gates that are locked till 7am every morning
I have a feeling thats y they have picked those areas because they want to keep people out
All the stuff iv had happen the last couple of months has been around a national park and its all happened between sun up and 630am befor the gates are unlocked

Good points there Thecreeper. My first point of inquiry would be to find out whether any of these areas goldfields, army barracks etc were actually occupying Sacred Aboriginal ground Burial Grounds in particular because these are areas where Yowies like to hang out much like Bigfoot in the US and especially Dogman which have regularly been observed on Sacred Native American burial grounds.Thecreeper wrote: Tue Feb 16, 2021 4:45 pm Yeah I wouldn't be suprised. Indigenous elders would certainly know the answer to this whereas Non-indigenous folk would be completely unaware.

Hi Yowie bait, I just made a comment to Thecreeper about how much of this Aboriginal land they are clearing may actually be Sacred land such as burial grounds because Yowies I believe love to frequent these areas almost as a custodial role and most non-indigenous folk would have no idea.Yowie bait wrote: Tue Feb 16, 2021 4:28 pm Never stopped them clearing Aboriginal land before or putting bottle shops in grog free communities etc etc.

The entire video is a great watch but these times to me are the most interesting
7:39 mins .... group seminar with DR, Jeff Meldrum as guest speaker.
10:06 mins... What Steve really thinks of Dr Meldrum bit harsh perhaps.
10:37 mins... Aren't Monkees or apes.
12: 24 mins... more than a hundred DNA samples which all point to human hybrids. ( Mmm reminds me of the much-maligned Dr Melba Ketchum study.)
So Yowie your hairy men hypothesis may not be too far from the truth. I won't include where Steve thinks the human hybrid comes from sufficing to say not some neanderthal caveman.

Re: Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
Adventurer, sometimes you play down your experiences. I think I posted in the other thread re your experiences would change someone's perspective, it changed mine. You mentioned previously "hotspot" of activity, and it wasn't just typical hairy activity (re that area). Something new I had not heard from you re if a person is religious they don't come near - that's really interesting.sensesonfire wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 8:49 pm Hi Creeper, I dont think anything that would live in the bush for even thousands of years could adapt and make certain changes.
Dee

Hi rowbe you credited me with adventurers comment. Just curious did it change your perspective in believing like Dee that these creatures are paranormal?rowbe wrote: Thu Feb 18, 2021 9:52 am I think I posted in the other thread re your experiences would change someone's perspective, it changed mine.
rowbe these cryptids Yowies like Bigfoot, Dogman will have nothing to do with religion but I'll be more exact Christianity and why? because they are afraid they know there is only one who can make them quake at the knees and disappear. No surprise to me that they won't approach Christians because they are protected I don't know about other religions. Do you not see the connection?rowbe wrote: Thu Feb 18, 2021 9:52 am
Something new I had not heard from you re if a person is religious they don't come near - that's really interesting.
Dee has had many years of experience and if anyone wants to know about Yowies adventurer is the one to contact. Nothing beats field research but very few have had that interaction with Yowies as Dee has.
My ideas of Yowies very much corresponds with hers but the difference is mine is supposition Dee's is reality.

Re: Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
Firstly, I do believe when Dee mentioned religious she meant people with Christian thoughts - not a specific religion. However, she may clarify. It was just the first time I heard/saw her mention it.
I knew you would enjoy that comment - I could almost hear you salivating from here.
I think I started out, like many (not all) that the hairies were flesh and blood but have come around to the paranormal side. If you believe all the information re the subject, its hard not to consider them "paranormal". However, by definition that word has a lot of connotations. Though, there are some things which make it hard to not believe they have flesh and blood attributes.
I don't have the experiences that Dee has had. The good thing about Dee it that she is only too will to share her experiences.
Apart from potential physical environmental signs, I have heard loud pounding bipedal foot steps walking on a path past my camp but nothing was there (as a teenager) - BUT IT DID CAUSE THE POWDERY DIRT ON THE TRACK TO PUFF UP (if I can describe it like that). Not saying it was a hairy, but it was definitely paranormal. In the same area I have heard another sound but like it was a quicker running noise. Back then to me it sounded like 44 gallon drums rolling down the hillside, but if you are familiar with the old movie "Zulu" (with a very young Michael Caine & Stanley Baker) it is more like the running sound of the zulus (in the movie they described it like a steam train) - watch it, you will know what I mean. Now this was out in the bush with nothing around for miles.
I have other things which I believe were hairies but cannot say for certain.

This may be interesting to some.
There is an Aboriginal Creation type story that Wellymon had mentioned before on the forum. I cant find the link or remember the details other than that in the end the Yowie or yowie people screwed up and were deemed unworthy but kind of on probation and were forced to walk between two worlds or dimensions.
Not actually in either place permanently but living in both and able to cross over.
One of the dimension of course was ours where they camp out and survive in the forest while they are here.

Re: Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
Something that comes up for me is that I do not believe that world is all about us. Anthropocentrism seems to be dominant in this field of enquiry.
Perhaps a more holistic view of the paranormal could be constructive towards understanding what is going on? By connecting the dots between phenomenon. If you believe that humans have a spiritual dimension, then why wouldn't that apply to all living beings including hairies?
From my perspective, for whatever reason, some people seem to attract negative entities into their lives and that plays out as havoc for themselves and those around them. Others seem to channel the more positive forces. Why wouldn't the same apply to all beings, particularly the hairies?
So I guess I am proposing that perhaps not one size fits all with these beings...

Re: Paranormal Yowie and Indigenous Beliefs
Hi, i had to pull my notes from the filing cabinet for this one. The male person that had come out around 11th August through 17th september couple years ago was a well known person on this site ( dont know if i can mention his name) Ill call him "Timothy." He is a CHRISTIAN. He is a highly informative person and asked for all my notes to see if he could find patterns for me. He has helped many people tremendously and havnt seen him on this site for sometime now. He came out at a time when the activity was at a high rate, but everytime he came out it was a dead night ( meaning no hairymen around), I knew the yowies wernt there every outing but it was a rate of 6 out of ten times they were there. So Timothy came out regularly on several occasions. We couldnt work out why when he was around we had no rock throwing, no vocals, no communication--nothing. He was a good sport and didnt give up in hoping to hear and see what ron and i did. But nothing. I started to have a feeling, crazy but thought because he was a christian, i spoke about this with Ron. Then i got a call from Timothy saying he thought a lot about it and wondered if it was because he was a christian. I told him we had wondered that too. All he got to see was 27 odd rock stacks.rowbe wrote: Thu Feb 18, 2021 1:12 pm Firstly, I do believe when Dee mentioned religious she meant people with Christian thoughts - not a specific religion. I think??the last outing with Timothy was 17th September and on the 19th September only me, Ron, Lindsay and Ants went out, so it was only 2 days later without Timothy and that was the day the hairees i believe mimicked our fake baby cry ( the kmart crying baby i bought out previosly), and the 3 hairees were in a triangular fashion around us grunting loud ape noises.
I know this wasnt till 5th november but this was the time that ghostly huge white figure crossed our path and the stench smell--so activity was still there.
I googled this, and others around the world also had no connection when Christians were around.
I could be wrong but looking at my notes previous to Timothy coming out was also height of activity. I remember shaking when Timothy came as i wasnt sure if i wanted to be out there again, he calmed me and it was a dead night anyway with him.
Could all be coincidence, who knows but this is why i keep notes.

People talk about mentioning jesus or praying if your having a bad encounter and what ever it is cant get out of there quick enough
Personally i have no experience with that and i cant say that it would be the first thing id think of doing in a bad situation but if is indeed correct then i could see the same reaction from what ever to someone with a strong religious background
Either that or could they maybe pick up on or see people's aura's?
U hear about some people being ables to see peoples auras and friends of mine had some nasty stuff happen to them after asking to see something more then a ghost on 1 of the boards i dont like to talk about
Anyway long story short they were told by a lady they knew that had abilities that if 1 of my friends didnt have the type of aura he had that both of them wouldnt of survived apparently he had some sort of defensive aura as u can tell i havnt done much research or auras but with wat happened that night and the 10 people that witnessed the event and what went on after they finished up that night and what happened for if i remember correctly about 6 months befor the other friend woke up screaming one night that something was sitting on his chest and no 1 could lift him up out of bed then it just stopped after this lady come and said some stuff with the 2 guys and burnt sage and stuff like that
There has to be some truth to the whole different aura abilities and maybe the hairies can sense that
