Just a thought I had derived from AYR's reports
Eyewitnesses often describe sightings which involve the subject seeming to vanish into thin air, or to be present one second and simply gone the next.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to suggest this but is it possible that these creatures, whatever they are, are able to confuse our senses by some means? Could they be using a combination of sound and scent that is able to instill such intense fear and shock that our senses are momentarily confounded? There are numerous reports in which people describe encounters that probably lasted under a minute but which felt as if they took much longer - is this the result of something these creatures can do, whether consciously or unconsciously?
If they're able to use infrasound, the powerful scent that's often reported, or a combination of these - as well as other means we may not even be aware of - is it possible that their supposed 'supernatural' ability to disappear is a result of them being able to disrupt our senses in some way?
If they're able to confuse our sense of the passage of time in some way, or to shock us with their physical presence or their use of sound and scent, might that not be a reasonable explanation for their ability to 'vanish'?
In all honesty, I find it impossible to accept the idea that Yowies - whatever they might be - are able to magically disappear into thin air. People very often describe these encounters as being so shocking that they doubt their own senses. What if some kind of sensory interruption is literally what's taking place?
The unpleasant scent that's often reported could involve some kind of pheromone that causes fear - or other effects for all we know. The reports of them using sound in various ways also seems intriguing - what if these creatures possess a natural ability to use sound as a means of defending themselves by confusing the senses of other living things? It could be both a defensive measure and a means of attack.
It's just something that occurred to me so I thought I'd post it.

That AYR account of three people saw where the creature went behind a stump and all three saw three different things come out the other side. Thats one that comes to mind and could be a similar thing to what your saying Simon.

These creatures can shapeshift I'm not sure about Yowies I presume they can Bigfoot certainly so. One incident in the US involving a Bigfoot transfiguring into a horse in a paddock was seen by a number of people. I don't believe they were confusing people's imagination it is an ability they possess.Austral wrote: Mon May 30, 2022 7:26 am That AYR account of three people saw where the creature went behind a stump and all three saw three different things come out the other side. The human brain is only wired to handle a scale of things bred into it over many thousands of years. So something so far out there will produce all sorts of reactions and the way people interpret or recall encounters with say Yowies or UFO's varies widely. It's common for people to see something so intense that their brain shuts it out for life. People will faint at certain things so it's reasonable to think that maybe one step less than fainting is for the person to not see something move off, like some sort of mental buffering. I'm a flesh and blood believer but there has to be something else going on, it's undeniable at this point.
The more you've found, the less you've been around.

Here's a good read https://www.anchoragepress.com/news/fra ... ee2fe.html.
But it does put a perspective on the disappearing and shapeshifting abilities and the foul odour these creatures emit in this case Bigfoot in Alaska US as told by Sally Ash. Sally is Sugpiaq of Russian-Aleut descent.
Sally quotes:
“If you follow him he will hide and he could turn into different animals,” she describes. “You can chase him and chase him and suddenly he disappears behind a tree and when you get close enough to see him all you see is a shimmering little mouse — shape-shifting. They would change into different animals; make you feel sad for them. They said don’t touch them, just leave them alone.”(unquote).
I believe this to be the case when three people were travelling along a bush track in Aus (can't remember the state Victoria I think) saw a Yowie disappear behind a tree stump then the next second a gonna and 2 other animals emerged.
She has a word of warning for anyone who might have a mind to pull a firearm on Nantiinaq. pronounced Non-tee-nuck.
Sally quotes:
“And don’t shoot them. You can shoot them but you’ll never kill them,” she said. “One man tried to do it, but he just took the bullet and pulled it out of his chest.”

I believe these abilities apply to Yowies as well.

I normally don't like to reference an event unless I have the related article. This is from Night Siege The Ohio UFO Creature Invasion by Dennis Pilichis.sensesonfire wrote: Mon May 30, 2022 1:21 pmThese creatures can shapeshift I'm not sure about Yowies I presume they can Bigfoot certainly so. While up on the roof, later, they noticed two forms with glowing red eyes come up from the side of the field and stand to the side of the barn. They tried to talk to them, from up on the roof, waited five minutes and then lowered the boom on them. They screamed, yelled and then ran off.
At one point during the night, while taking turns shooting at these forms as they ran around on the woodline, they looked out again and saw their horse standing out in the field.
At this time their horse was locked up in the barn, did not get out, and was not out in that field. But, the ''form'' looked like his horse. They knew something was wrong and even though it was their horse out there, it was not their horse!
They knew it was not their horse and two people at once shot at the ''horse''. The horse was in gunshot range.
They had fired into something that ''looked'' like their horse. It screamed, hollered, growled and took off back to the northeast part of the field. Having come down off the roof they walked out there. There was no blood, no hair no nothing. A few strange prints were found. [Unquote].
