Where have all our Yowies gone?
Is it just me or have others also noticed that no new Yowie sightings or Audio Reports are coming in to this site?.
I joined the Australian Yowie Research site over 2 years ago after having my first sighting of a Yowie near Weipa Queensland, as to be expected l was suddenly compelled to learn all about this mysterious creature that l observed for 10 minutes or so while l was out alone hunting wild pigs; this brief encounter had now changed my life forever. I made myself a promise to return to the very spot l had seen the creature and over the last 2 years l have returned to the exact spot twice but have also hunted in that same area many times since.
As yet l have not found any evidence of its existance apart from 'unexplained feelings and noises' when camped out by myself of a night in the same area of bush but l do hold onto the clear memories of what l saw that 20th August 2021 day.
Cheers Tim

To be fair, it's so hot outside that the mere idea of going bushwalking or any other kind of activity seems like madness to many, myself included.
Don't expect reports and sightings to be constant; it is what it is.
It also takes a lot of time and effort and collaboration to pull together audio reports and interviews.
It's also a stressful time of the year with Chrimbo imminent, and other factors.
Sure, in its heyday, this site was massively popular, but we're all growing older and finding more calls on our time.
Chill.

Re: Where have all our Yowies gone?
I've been monitoring the Bigfoot discussion on the Internet for three years and have noticed that the number of posts has decreased, especially in the last year. The last big success was the FLIR images from AYR. Old observations are dug up on all relevant forums and Facebook pages. I notice a certain level of fatigue because it's hard to make any progress. No usable photos and no usable DNA evidence. The question is, with all the technological leaps, why are we not able to make a decisive breakthrough in research? The Patterson Gimlin film from half a century ago is still the best video evidence. It seems to me that we are dealing with a living being that is superior to us and is learning better and better to avoid our observations, which are mostly based on technology, and largely decides for itself when it wants to make contact with which person. We have to admit that research like this with another animal is impossible and will not be possible in the future. Future research will also be limited to eyewitness accounts associated with footprints and tree structures and sound recordings.
It would be interesting to know why this is the case. What abilities they use to evade our exploration. Can they simply hypnotize us and thus read and manipulate our minds or do they actually have the ability to disappear into another dimension? Many open questions and no answers for decades. You realize that at a certain point you can no longer make any progress. I think this is tiring and leads to a slow decline in public interest.

All good, valid points Falke. They may be retreating from our human intrusions as much as they can to reduce interactions. They are just as smart as we are, when it comes to knowing what is good and what threatens them. I also believe those interested in cryptozoology will always be a small, niche group which becomes smaller with each generation. The Electronic Age we live in has kids using playstations, phones etc. as soon as they can get their opposable thumbs on them, likewise, they immerse themselves in tech, not the bushland world at the perimeters of our habitations.

Well, we may get lucky (or I may get lucky); got a short-term contract way out in the sticks of NSW, it's quite remote and not much to do besides work, eat and drink. No prizes for guessing what yours truly would be doing outside of work hours, especially since my cabin backs onto a river with a light spread of trees and bushes.

Re: Where have all our Yowies gone?
No action? Perhaps you all ought to change techniques from simply camping and waiting for something to happen, (which rarely works for me either), to putting a call blasting speaker system together with a 2400 watt 12 volt car amp, 4- 500 watt horn speakers and the wires, a 12volt battery, and a playback recorder. Then you go to the internet and download some howls. Lots of people put the howls that they recorded, and you can copy them with a microphone next to your computer speakers, Then you get an audio cleaner software program and take out all the static that happens during the howl. For the air time between the howls, you just zero out the noise, and then fade back in the next howl if you have a series. Now you can those bad boys in by first getting their attention. Next, you want to be able to hear them because they are sneaky little suckers. You get a highly sensitive studio microphone with a 1" diameter diaphragm like a Shure KSM 44a, an xlr recorder like a late model zoom, and some earphones, along with 100 feet of xlr cable. Now you can hear them walking around your camp while they are invisible. Don't forget you folding camp chair because you are not going to them, they are coming to you. Lastly, you need a freshly cooked chicken that is still giving out a nice aroma. Then you drive to the end of a dead end road out in the boondocks, that is rarely used as indicated by the grass growing between the wheel ruts. You can arrive in early evening, get quickly setup with microphone first because they are going to start walking around your camp within 5 to 10 minutes. Put the microphone either uphill from camp or opposite the direction that you just drove in from. Distressed female howls like the Tahoe scream from America, can really get the sparks flying and is only for the bravest amongst you. Otherwise, stick with a lower frequency male howl. Good luck, but you won't need any because this is my perfected recipe for fast responses 100% of the time.

There is one positive side to a drop-off in interest in Yowies. They will be left alone and can live their lives in peace and harmony without people prowling around hunting for them.

Interesting perspective and possible maybe… but as a skeptic myself, maybe the advances in technology have made hoaxes harder to perpetuate or easier to spot. No longer can some rando person post a blurry photo or video, or shaky footage and pass it off as a bigfoot/yowie. We all know the clarity everyday phones and cameras take.falke62 wrote: Sun Dec 10, 2023 10:55 am I've been monitoring the Bigfoot discussion on the Internet for three years and have noticed that the number of posts has decreased, especially in the last year. Then there is social media. On the past, it was easier for someone to hoax footage with few people knowing who the person was or his reputation. Now it is harder to hide from the public, information flow about a person is easier found.
All this combined means that these “sightings” aren’t as widely reported… and when these types of stories leave pop culture, people are less likely to attribute noises or shadows to a yowie or bigfoot.

The greatest theorist of all was Albert Einstein and who would argue with him? Where have all the moderates and traditionalists gone? I believe they have exhausted all avenues of research to provide evidence. I'm a great fan of the TV show Expedition Bigfoot the team are out there in the forests of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. The foremost traditionist of the team Primatologist Dr Mireya Mayor has been left with egg on her face by the theorists more than a few times.AL Pitman wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2024 2:25 pm IMO this page has been somewhat hijacked by those with extremist views and as such those with a more moderate and traditional outlook tend to steer away or reject such content .

No one is interested in moderate views you only have to look at my theories to see which ones the viewers want to read.

Re: Where have all our Yowies gone?
Another aspect of Yowie research work is, leaving a good impression on the Yowie so that next time you return, they are eager to stop by. A couple of ways to leave a good impression is to either or both leave some food and play some pleasant music while you are there. Try some monk chants, Native American flute music or some solo vocalist romantic music with a relatively moderate beat. Food would be hot chicken, bananas, crunchy peanut butter or fruit. If you poor some maple syrup on the fruit, they will definitely be coming back to visit you. The thing that you must not do, is to take pictures or be running video cameras. You aren't going to get anything anyways, so you are wasting you time, and that is just going to alienate them. Game cameras are also a definite No No, and a giant waste of time and money. You have to focus on getting on their good side. They don't seem to mind microphones for some reason.

Re: Where have all our Yowies gone?
Dear Al Pitman,
The discussions in the forum had died down long before I started the thread with Melba Ketchum here. So it can't be my fault and probably not sensesonfire's fault that so little is going on here.
If my conclusions have frightened or upset you, I'm sorry. That was not my intention. I too initially assumed that Bigfoot was just a relict hominid or a rare primate, until more and more inconsistencies emerged in the sighting descriptions, so I became skeptical and looked for explanations that could also explain these anomalies . I don't want to convert or convince anyone with this, I just want to make a contribution to a discussion and I would be happy to be corrected if I was wrong in my statements. There are so few hard facts about the origins of Bigfoot that one has to be open to all sides. At this point in time, any determination would be unscientific because the evidence is lacking.

Going by the continued stream of reports that come in from North America, I speculate that the Australian Yowie tends to be a heck of a lot more reclusive and successfully avoids humans than their counterparts in America.

Absoultly zero conclusive evidence of the existence of yowies ,blood and bone or paranormal/supernatural and the constant argy bargy have tired me and i suspect many others from commenting on the forum anymore.
Possibly many of us have decided not having an answer either way is OK.
After years of being a active member of this forum no one has ever presented unquestionable evidence that yowies even exist .
So maybe they haven't gone anywhere maybe they have never been?
I'm a believer but I reckon it's time to put up or shut up or move on.

Re: Where have all our Yowies gone?
Hi Bluedog,
I agree but research into the flesh and blood Yowie is extremely limited without a body but the paranormal/supernatural is infinite. I'm a fan of the TV series Expedition Bigfoot as I've mentioned more than once the Primatologist in the group Dr Mireya Mayor constantly applies her ape theories when dealing with Bigfoot she is constantly barking up the wrong tree even when she has videotaped strange apparitions of which as she states I have no scientific explanation for. The True Bigfoot researchers like Ronny La Blanc keep getting rebuked and you can see the frustration on his face. Science and the paranormal do not mix when dealing with Bigfoot or Yowies.Bluedog wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2024 7:11 pm Absoultly zero conclusive evidence of the existence of yowies ,blood and bone or paranormal/supernatural and the constant argy bargy have tired me and i suspect many others from commenting on the forum anymore.
Correct Bluedog no unquestionable evidence that Yowies exist unless a body is presented and a lot of that has to do with our sparse population and the huge land mass Yowies inhabit. There are people however like Rich Germeau in the US who have had plenty of hands-on experience with Bigfoot. Here is the Video Austral posted where he recites his experiences https://youtu.be/cj8ZCU7qC-0?si=8FPkRzpHrgmgJC4G he is a creditable man and I have seen him being interviewed on TV shows Expedition Bigfoot being one. His conclusion as to what these creatures are at 53:10 secs may shock you but one with which I fully concur. I suspect Yowies are the same.Bluedog wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2024 7:11 pm After years of being a active member of this forum no one has ever presented unquestionable evidence that yowies even exist .

Re: Where have all our Yowies gone?
Yowies are not likely to have gone anywhere. They may have grown bored with interacting with humans, which could be one reason why they don't make themselves more obvious. Or perhaps it is the researchers that are firmly convinced that the Yowies are a 24/7 flesh and blood species, contrary to what the American Bigfoot have been stated to be by their President Carter on Jan. 23, 1981, to be. Consequently, when the only evidence that an Aussie researcher is receptive to is visual evidence, while they simultaneously ignore the nearby audio evidence, then one natural consequence of that is the conclusion that the Yowies are gone.
Solution: Fork out some serious dollars for a high end 1" diameter diaphragm omnidirectional studio microphone like a Shure KSM 44a, a XLR Zoom microphone/amplifier, some headphones, 100 feet of XLR microphone cord, and a lawn chair. Then spend more time camping by yourself because your mates are constantly making noise whether they realize it or not. At your remote camp, with your microphone placed more than 75 feet from you lawn chair, spend some time listening for unusual bipedal footstep noises. Most researchers just don't have the cahoanes to camp in Yowie country by themselves, I am willing to bet. If you set out a hot steaming chicken that you picked up on the way out of town, then you are going to give a reason for that Yowie to separate you from that aromatic chicken and get you to dive into your vehicle and abandon all your equipment behind you as you speed out of camp in the middle of the night. BTW, if you stay, nothing will happen. They are bluffing.
In conclusion: it may be all about fine tuning your research techniques in order to motivate the Yowie to chase you out of camp.
