Stick formation out the front ?? QLD Hervey Bay
So I live in Hervey Bay qld right on a gully that leads to Eli creek, so there is a heap of bush land behind us and what not but it turns into residential property’s that are built along the gully that leads to Eli creek. I was taking the dog for a walk on dusk and pretty well arrived home (was about 20 or so meters from the house). Upon walking past the young bottle brush tree that is in the paddock dividing the water way/gully and the houses I noticed a strange stick structure under the canopy and it to me looks like an asterisk or something (just want to be clear the phone light and camera made it hard to see at night but it was an asterisk with other sticks laid on top almost like a bird nest would be built up), I decided to have a Quick Look and noticed impressions in the grass clippings and dirt that encircled the tree (these resembled footprints I thought). Backtracking I noticed a couple of steps leading up to the tree and it seemed like they were spaced 7ft apart. Now, in person it was much easier to see but I’ll provide some photos, keep an open mind and try to find the shape if you can in the photos provided I believe they may have been compromised over the time they were there because of it being very windy. I have only been savvy to the idea of “yowies” for the past few months. Can anyone with an experience give me a bit of clarity on what I’m looking at please?. Update- took the dog for a walk again and found a paperbark snapped a foot up from the base, is this also strange or??.

I would also like to emphasise that there are no other sticks at All in the vicinity of this tree and it’s always mowed so these seemed to be placed there) decided to have a Quick Look and noticed impressions in the grass clippings and dirt that encircled the tree (these resembled footprints I thought). Hmmmm, sticks shaped like an 'asterisk' just 20 metres from your house. Just a thought, possibly consider taking a clear, infocus photo the next day in the natural sunlight and repost just for future analysis?.
I'm certainly no expert but l reckon this is how the whole scenerio played out ok....
stay with me on this for a sec as we revisit the evidence scene near the young bottle brush tree.
I have concluded that this latest 'near encounter' started when "YowieJims Mowing Service Pty Ltd" was emptying the ride-on's grass catcher after cutting the grass as part of their normal daily mowing activities.
Due to presenting the cheapest quote he was in a hurry and backed squarely into that small unseen paperbark tree with a hefty jolt and snapped it right over!. (buggar!!)
While still annoyed from smacking that unseen tree he's jumped off the mower in a huff to check out the damage to the grass catcher.
While wearing his trusty "bluestone steel capped safety boots" l have to conclude the impressions in the grass clippings photo are the mower operator 'hopping' about while wondering how the hell he can quickly blame this latest dent on someone else?.
Personally, if push came to shove and the big boss (you know the CEO, the big hairy guy?) called me into his forrest structure office to explain the dent l'd blame the whole incident on the damm dog as l never even saw the accident.
Now ain't that the truth!. just sayn'

Yes just some 'good natured humour' on my part, glad you felt the same and had a laugh as well.
Sadly it would appear that the AYR site has hit a brick wall with very few actual sightings/reports now coming in (if at all).
Its a shame as AYR membership interest will nodoubt dwindle to a slow trickle because of this.

It’s a bit of a shame that it has dwindled but there is plenty of history. I’m sure once there is another definitive sighting it’ll spark some interest again. Went down the bush today for a walk and found some sticks along the track shoved into the trees horizontally an inch deep about 8ft high. Not sure what would do that ??
