being tracked up caboolture way

Unread post by deadpool »

Hey kids, its Alex again - some of the old school regulars may remember me. But i'm out of hospital and nearly 100% again.

Anyway - here's the latest. Was walking down (forget the name of the actual road) a road next to what looked like either a pine plantation or forest up Beerwah way. It looked kind of dense, plenty of farms around. It would have been about.. 10-ish? (damn public transport)

Either way, I was being tracked. (or so I assume)

I did all the necessary steps to make sure it wasn't an echo or anything. I'd walk, stop - then i'd here *crunch crunch* stop. Now, i'm walking on a tarmac road here, so i'm not making crunchy noises. So i'd stop, whatever it was would stop. I'd start walking, it'd walk too. I'd say (since the operation, senses aren't all that good.. 50m in to the forest?) it would have been, whatever it was.

So I conducted the next test. A sprint. It could catch up easily, but whenever I stopped, it would too.. about one to three steps after. As per usual it wasn't directly beside me. Always about at a 45 degree angle behind me, as if observing me. Creepiest part about it was how quiet it was. Not a single sound apart from me walking and whatever else it was walking behind me. I'm sure it wasn't a human, as the footsteps sounded heavy. When I went for a quick sprint - it was thudding; not super loud or anything, but enough for me to notice it was hauling hominid arse.

Once I got past the plantation/forest it stopped - but I still got that feeling of being watched. Thats the only thing that creeped me out about the whole experience.

Once again, i'm not sure if this is even worth posting, but - ideas on it? Was it an echo? Imagination (hominds were the last thing on my mind at that stage, as I was freezing my wossnames off). I know for a fact it wasn't my imagination though - its happened to me before so i've kind of picked up the signs.

Anyway guys, its good to be back - hope y'all missed me!

Well then. If it isn't Mr Wade Wilson Himself. I must say I'm a massive fan of yours.....

Glad to hear you're well again Alex....I didn't even know you were crook. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and your at 100% again soon.

I'm pretty sure Beerwah has a strong hisory of yowie activity. It's not only possible you were being followed, it was probable, I suppose. I think there's two sigtings listed in the reports section of this site, the most recent being about 6 years ago. Might want to get back out there for a sticky-beak.

Good to hear from you.

Hi Alex,

Good to hear from you again. Happy to hear your on the mend.

You were definitely in the correct location for an encounter and the mannerisms and description are exactly the behaviour one would expect.

This reminds me of a time when I was investigating koala deaths in Daisy Hill. I had myself deeply obligated (by myself and a long distance away from my car and open ground), when I heard a noise to my right, during my usual whistling technique. I saw what appeared to be two very thick brown legs in a clearing under very thick foliage.

I pretended not to notice and continued to walk further into the forest. It followed. Each time I stopped, it would also. I confused it by not being predictable as to when I would stop and sometimes it took an extra step.

This continued for some time.

Yet not entirely convinced, I put it to the test by turning left at a junction on the path. It then crossed the track and was now tailing me 45 degrees on my left. When I glanced over my shoulder, I was in the position where I could actually see the foliage swinging as it pushed its way through.

By this time I was a aware that I was too far away from anything to save myself, if worse came to worse. I would have been toast with vegemite if it decided it had enough of games.

I turned back towards the junction, as did it. He was now on my right tailing at 45. When I reached the cross road I decided to stir it up a little by beginning the whistling once again. That was enough to trigger it.

Suddenly it came at full speed straight towards me. The trees were being flung left and right, the foot fells were heavy, it was fast, had intent, but I couldn't see it? The height of the trees and foliage would have been roughly 6ft and whatever this was either had its head down or was somewhat shorter.

Never the less, I knew I was in trouble if I stood there, so I let my legs do the talking and I ran as fast as I could towards safety.

Luckily for me it was all bluff because it stopped at the junction and didn't take matters further. If it didn’t want to let up, I most certainly would not have made it out.

Wow to both stories!!

Y'know I never thought about any of this when I would go camping and my biggest fear back then was to accidentally come across a peeved roo buck/wild pig over anything else lol
I will never sleep easy or bush walk with out listening again!

@ Romeo - cheers man, glad to see you're a fan too

@ Dean - Thanks, your story is pretty much like mine, except more scarier. I didn't see anything. Next time i'm up that way, should I try whistling or anything, seeing if I can get some "attention" or just do my usual walk around?

@ Kirsty - it makes camping way more fun this way now. Just think.. that *snap* you heard to your right.. might not have been a branch falling out of a tree..

My gf and I were travelling up Putty Road a few months back and we stopped at a rest stop by a creek just south of Howes Valley...

It was very very quiet. We were the only car there. It was just a big clearing with some bins, no tables or anything that suggested it was a proper rest stop. Heaps of rubbish though -

We were just checking the creek out, when we heard what very much sounded like a rock thrown at a sign..Then some sorta rustling sound.

We had a bit of a look. There was a part of the creek on the Yengo side of the area that I just 'felt' I didn't want to approach...Maybe just paranoia...

It got to the stage where we hurried back to the car because we both felt we were being watched...

My gf was convinced it was people (no cars and very remote area from the nearest town - Wollemi NP on one side and Yengo NP in the general direction of the other side)

I thought otherwise, but I just agreed with her. A Hermit...?? Dogs...?? Not unless they throw stones...
