Avatars -WARNING, This thread is HILARIOUS! & A MUST READ!

Unread post by Dean Harrison »

Our Forum is populated with fantastic people who contribute amazing thoughts and views. Most of you have been with us for many years.

Behind the scenes, it has been heavily discussed that we would like this Forum to be more personalised.

Again, we have had Members here for many years, however we cant see you?

If we can encourage people to use their own pic as an Avatar, please do. If not, that is your choice, and we understand. To those who can, yes, please do and we are doing the same along with you!

Hi All.

I've noticed the recent trend amongst the moderators to start using mug shots.

Good to see you leading by example!

Gotta say my mental image of members based on their avatars and comments was waaaaay different to their photos.

A pleasant surprise and I agree it's a lot more personal.

Sticky's avatar creeps me out a little bit (not sure why) but Lasso's drag queen monkey is always good for a laugh. Can't wait to see the faces behind those images.

I've grown attached to my little green alien friend but if I find a photo that's a little more "me" I'll be sure to post it.

...lol!... quite a few years ago one of my grandchildren used to say to everybody when she was a little younger... "Speak to the Hand" all the time and cut the conversation off and walk away when she didn't want to hear anymore...and it annoyed the hell out of me (I considered it to be a disrespectful Americanised type saying)... I bided my time but decided to teach her a lesson in good manners...so one day she sent me an email to ask me to allow me to... "be her friend" ...on one of those Facebook type things back at that time as she had only JUST got a computer and the internet... so I sent her that picture that I found on the internet and wrote nothing back...just sent the picture...

... when she recieved it... (just the picture and nothing written)... she rang me up... she was really upset and almost crying... but she realised what it meant... she apologised to me about a dozen times over... I then accepted her as my friend while she was speaking to me on the phone... it made her day and she was happy again... she has never said... "Speak to the Hand" ... to me since and not to anybody else again!... as far as I was concerned... my lesson was finished... she has since grown older and is now becoming a young well mannered lady...

... as an "older" member on these forums...(I'm 55)... I feel that I can probably give the young 'uns on these forums a little word of advice in these type of situations for when YOU get to my age or older... and that advice is not sentimental rubbish like...

..."turn the other cheek"... or something like... "forgive and forget"... or even... "gosh!... I was a child once... I should understand and let her grow out of that phase"... my motto in life when it comes to that kind of behaviour in little kids is...

..."DON'T GET MAD...GET EVEN!!!!!"...

...(I believe that it toughens them up for more worse things that are heading their way as they grow older!)... lol!... as I said before... she is now becoming a more refined young lady with MANNERS ... (who would've thunk it huh?)... perhaps I had something to do with that... I like to think so!... ever since then... whenever I go onto any other forums... I ALWAYS use that Avatar for that very reason!...I'm basically a very sentimental type person...that's why I use it!!!... lol!... cheers... Stickyfingers. :D

Hey sticky

nothing wrong with being in your 50's, as i am, i liked the story, it surprises me a bit when i see a face to a name. Me i feel like a 25 year old. I guess it.s only when i'm trudging through the scrub that my age shows

cheers

I'm 55 going on 14 according to my wife!!!...cheers... Stickyfingers. :D

Hi Reegs,

If you can't do it yourself, feel free to send it to me (however there may be an element of danger involved).

Thats the real you?! Whats with the sudden influx of attractive women on the forum?

Go to your user control panel, click profile, then edit signature. wherever you found that image, upload it to somewhere like imageshack.us or something, then once you get the link for it simply put in something like this

Easy!

Its cool to see who's actually behind the posts now. Little bit scary in a way (sorry Dean, I did jump out of my seat a bit) :P
