Had a report of a group of people see a large dark figure cross the road at very high speed at North Dandalup, while they were driving (Dec 2013)
Thats all there is no more details as of yet.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
Another WA report came in a few weeks ago, which reads;
Hi,
A friend and I had a long, face to face encounter with a Yowie in Exmouth Western Australia back in 1992.... Before this encounter I was a true skeptic and total non believer.... It was in March of that year and was a hot summer night.... I had an American girlfriend staying over for a night of videos.... At approximately 1am another American friend, stationed at the US Harold E Holt base there, called and begged us to pick him up as he was about to finish his shift at 1.30am.... We agreed and jumped in the car for the 6-7km drive, through bush land, out to the base.... We had the windows down and were chatting away when in the distance of the high beam, and in a small floodway, I could see something walking across the road.... My friend also noticed it and said "What the f#*k is that".... I couldn't respond as I was trying to get my head around what it may be.... As we got closer and closer the creature stopped smack in the middle of the road and looked sideways, turning its whole upper torso, at us... At this stage the only thing I could think was that it was some sort of an animal as it's eyes glowed a yellow/light amber colour in the lights.... As we approached I slowed right down and eventually come to a full stop about 50 foot from the creature.... It was still looking at us side ways and hadn't moved a step.... Both my friend and I were screaming..... We quickly wound up the windows and locked the doors.... All we could both do was repeat over and over "What the hell is it".... Then it suddenly turned and faced us.... We were both panicked by this stage and crying.... My friend was screaming at me to hit it, run it over, kill the f*cking thing.... But I couldn't I was frozen.... I feared if we hit it and it didn't die it may turn on us.... Numerous things ran through my mind.... But I was struggling to get my head around what I was staring at.... And what was staring at me..... I can't say how long this staring match went on.... But I was shocked into silence where my friend was totally hysterical.... After what seemed like ages it turned, back the way it had come from, and slowly walked back towards the bush.... It stopped several times to stare at us again.... As soon as I felt safe enough I put my foot on the accelerator and we got the hell out of there.... The last thing I saw was the creature disappearing into the bush.... By the time we got to the base we were both crying, shaking and in deep shock.... We mumbled and cried through telling our other friend what we had just seen.... There began our hell.... As with nearly everyone we tried to tell, we were laughed at, questioned what drugs or alcohol we were on, told it was probably just a man in a suit, etc, etc..... It got to the point were either of us spoke about it to anyone.... My friend still won't and says she just wants to forget it.... But I can't.... I know what I saw that night and it was no man in a suit.... It was approximately 6-7 foot tall, hunched over, long arms(Past it's knees), no neck and was covered in a long silky grey/silver coat of fur.... It had a human like face.... Was HUGELY broad..... Had very defined muscles.... Big feet.... But it was its eyes that got me with the glowing..... It had an expression on its face of being slightly angry or perturbed that we disrupted it.... For some reason, I don't know why, but I feel it was definitely a male.... It also looked to be old.... Like an old man..... I run that night through my head over and over.... Hundreds and hundreds of times... Still struggle to understand what we saw.... I have started to want to look more into this creature.... Like I need to prove to myself, and others, that it's real.... Hence I came across you guys
Now a little about me.... I was raised on a station just out of Exmouth... Lived in, or around, the town for over 30 years..... I owned several businesses in Exmouth and am well known.... I am now a high ranking Government worker and currently sitting my Bachelor of Social Science (Criminology and Forensic Science).... I am sane.... I am smart.... But I still don't get what I saw that night.... Have done a LOT of research on the creature over the last few years.... Even spoken to the local Aboriginal elders.... They say that Hairy Man is keeper of the lands.... That he has coexisted with the Aboriginal people since time began.... Was told that there is certain areas you NEVER go into as it's Hairy Mans land.
Anyway that's my basic story and it's good to be able to tell it without ridicule

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
Thanks for the story Dion thats awesome.
I fly over Exmouth in a helicopter very 2-3 weeks, working on the oil rigs past the Ningaloo reef.
On the way back to Learnmonth (Airport) we fly west of Exmouth down the coast then crossing inland and I quite often gaze out the window trying see things.
When you fly over this barron landscape you would never think the Hairy one could survive in such a dry environment, but I'm always looking like an eagle in the sky, So yeah this encounter to myself is an awesome piece.
I will always be looking out.
Cheers

Sorry to say i do not believe it. I do not believe they are in W.A. Especially up north where it is dry and hot as hell. They would struggle to survive......If they were around in W.A, way more people would see them.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
Thats what I would have thought too especially up north but its not the only story I have heard about them in that area. Summer has a fairly high rainfall up north and from what I have heard the water table is fresh in the northern half of the state and salt in the southern half.
As for the southern areas its not that hot near the coast and in the SW only when the winds push from the north does it push up around 40, similar to central west NSW imo. Also WA has a relatively small population for its size making an encounter less likley, I think thats why most sightings seem to be in the perth hills area.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
The story of the Yowie in Exmouth is my story I sent as a message to admin..... Like the non believers I too thought stories of Bigfoot were just fantasies.... I laughed at these storiesand the people telling them..... Then I had my encounter..... Didn't think anything like this creature even existed.... That alone in Australia.... And NEVER in my small town of Exmouth..... Since my encounter I have found other people who have seen or heard this creature in this area.... I spoke to two Australian Protective Service Officers who saw this animal digging in a rubbish bin in a parking bay on the side of the road.... Six teenagers walking home from youth group late at night were followed and flanked by something that was large and bipedal...... They said the animal let out a spine curdling scream that terrified the kids.... Then there was a guy who worked at the local rubbish tip who started work at 5am... He also heard a spine curdling scream that chilled him to the bone.... He said it was nothing he had ever heard before.... He said he ran to his car and got out of there..... Never started work when it was still dark again.... There was also a local lady walking home from a BBQ very late at night, and through some bush land, who suddenly she heard rocks being knocked together close by in the bush... Then she felt that something was watching her.... Said every time she took a step something sounding bipedal also stepped.... She ran back to the peoples house holding the BBQ and was in a hysterical/terrified state when she got there.... The people then drove her home..... I also saw in the Northern Guardian newspapers a story of a Scientist who was studying the reef at night, camping remotely by himself for 3 nights, who had a creature like what I saw terrorize his camp each night.... To this day I regret not contacting that man.
The Pilbara is a VERY arid area but has a lot of natural springs.... Has very large populations of Kangaroos, goats, scrub cattle and sheep.... Exmouth also has 1000's of caves.... The whole place is built of limestone and also has a lot of water holes.... Over my many years here I have explored a lot of caves that have water pools in them..... So this animal could quite easily survive here.
Look I will be the first to admit that I'm still confused about what I saw that night.... Wish I could get it back so I could take in more detail.... But I saw what I saw and it was 100% real.... It has started to become an obsession to prove what I saw exists.... In fact as I write this I am back in Exmouth for 4 days and 3 of us have been out tonight hunting for the creature, but no luck.... I once travelled to Carnarvon and spoke to a very elderly elder from the local Yamatji tribe about what I saw.... He told me they have always been here and the local people are fully aware of them... Told me I was lucky to see one as they do not show themselves to many people.
So although I know what I saw was real, I also want to prove its existence.... Hence I will keep on my journey!!!

Hi Ant30166, thanks for sharing your encounter. Perhaps you now need to draw it/them to you by way of "habituation" techniques rather than the active searching method, ie walking around the bush hoping to encounter it by chance.
Habituation techniques: leaving out gifting bowls, entering and exiting an area in exactly the same way every single time etc.

Im just going by what I have heard on the forum but it makes sence, most sightings in the eastern statesGlennO87 wrote:Brian, you heard of any up the hills? Please tell
seem to be where bush meets populated areas thus giving more sightings in those areas.
I know someone who was camping a bit around the York rd/great eastern highway who was hearing odd stuff
in the bush but thats about it.
I have personally not had any experiences as I unfortunately dont get out much into the bush but, I do know
I have seen some interesting tree breaks between Salmon Gums and Norseman just looking from the highway.
As for up north, the Aboriginal elders seem to be well aware of their existence.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
I have studied this creature through literature, video, interviewing people who have sighted the animal and going out on expeditions ..... My friends and family only buy me gifts for birthdays or Christmas on Yowies, Yetis, Bigfoot, Sasquatch, etc, etc.... To say it's a passion/obsession would be an understatement .
We didn't have much luck sighting the creature in the 4 days I spent in Exmouth, but did have a strange encounter with a weird light that gave us a bit of a scare. But on my last night there I was invited to a beach BBQ with family and friends wanting to catchup. The subject of my expeditions came up and what I had sighted many years ago. Out of know where my young cousin pipes up and says "We saw something similar just recently". Now this man is your A-typical Aussie bogan truck driver who laughs and scoffs at anything that he hasn't got proof of. His nephew immediately tells him to shut up and not say anything else. Needless to say they had my attention and I kept at them. They told me that just a few months ago 3 of them, my cousin, his nephew and a mate, decided to sneak into the fish sanctuary zone late at night to go fishing(This is on the West side of the Cape from Exmouth). Being that it's a protected zone it's actually illegal to fish in there but something a LOT of the locals do. They decided to walk through the mangroves using just the moonlight so as not to alert anyone of their presence. As they came through the mangroves they could hear a lot of splashing going on in the shallow waters of the bay right near them. They immediately thought there was lots of fish there and commented it was going to be a good nights fishing. My cousin said the splashing seemed way to loud to be just fish going off and he made the decision to turn on their torch to have a look. Straight away in the torch light they picked up a bipedal creature chasing fish(he said it looked like a school of mullet) in about knee deep water. He said the creature was so busy chasing the fish that it took it a few seconds to realise it was in the torch light. It then looked up, and they got that yellow/amber eye glow, threw it's hands up and ran very fast in the mangrove swamp. At the same time those 3 turned tail and bolted for their car, a few hundred meters away, all the time watching behind them to be sure it wasn't chasing them. He said they jumped in the car, locked the doors and got out of there like a bat out of hell. He described the creature as only being about 3-4 foot tall, long beige/grey hair, human like features and bipedal. Sadly before I could get anymore detail everyone started giving us all hell about what we have seen. Asking what drugs do we all take, how drunk were we all, etc, etc. My cousin got absolutely furious and got up and left. The last thing he said was "I know what I f'ing seen" and he was gone. When I get the chance, and when he isn't on the road, I will call him again and see if I can't get more detail. But I feel so appeased that I'm not the only one to see this creature. To me by the sounds of his story the one he seen could possibly be a Juvenal one, but it will continue on my quest to prove it's existence on the North West Cape.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
G’day Ant30166,
Thanks for taking the time to report this. Very interesting. Thank you.
It is excellent that you are speaking to the elders, as this knowledge is rapidly disappearing. I hope that you are extracting every bit of knowledge and taking detailed notes. Believe me, trained anthropologists will view this information as quaint and will not appreciate or pursue the knowledge in depth. Elders (or anyone) wont disclose much if they think that you are an idiot. I recently read an extract of a paper (it was more than enough) from an eminent Australian anthropologist who clearly had no idea. I wrote her a lengthy email, as I tend to do, to no avail, no surprise.
It is also very good that you intend to speak to your cousin about his encounter. As you have indicated, it is very important that we support people who have had encounters, because the majority of others wont and will usually cause distress. I think that we are all aware of this!
Many encounters involve fish or fishermen.
Neil

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
I have lived and worked in the WA North for almost 20 years. My work has me working closely with Aboriginal People.
It is common for people to report rock throwing whilst camped at night. This normally in the vicinity of sacred sites. It is said to be the spirits telling the living they are near and amongst them. Some sites are on flat plains where there are no places to hide for the rock thrower?
The Aboriginals of the Dampier Peninsular have a strong belief in a Yowie type creature which lives amongst the mangrove forests. To prevent being followed and hassled the people place fish/game in the branches of mangroves along their track. The offering is quite often gone on their return.
Another local legend is that there are Chimpanzee type creatures living along the North Kimberley Coast.
There is a tale I have heard many times from Pearling Workers of Farm Workers exploring the areas around the Pearl Farms and being attacked! Always described as being 3-4 ft high, very stocky and hairy. They are in groups and will lay in ambush.
But I have some reservation due to my experience with young Pearlers having a penchant for illegal substance use whilst on the remote sites.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
I have worked with Aboriginal people, and on a lot of remote communities, for over 13 years now. First in the Gasgoyne and now in the Pilbara. I have heard of the rock throwing many, many times. Every opportunity I got I asked about little and big hairy man. No matter what community I was in there has always been a story. I have been blessed to have been accepted amongst the people who have been more than happy to share their knowledge with me. I was told of certain areas that no one will go into due to it being home of big hairy man. Stories of them stealing young girls to keep for themselves. Stories of hunters being frightened out of their wits when hairy man chased them out of hunting grounds or stealing their pray.
I was also told a story of how one of the mining companies had their night workers chased off of land as they tried to clear land for drilling. How one dozer driver had one very large hairy man jump on his machine and smash his windscreen. That they had large rocks thrown at them. It evidently got so bad no one would work at night there, or the Aboriginal surveys wouldn't work there, that they abandoned the site. Time and time again I have heard stories of these creatures.

Since your reports from above, i have flown over the North West cape many a time, especially on the much awaited return back flight to Learmonth Airport, home time.
The flight path back is West of Exmouth between the coast road down to Yardies creek, so I get a great view of the terrain.
There are literally 100s of canyons, ravines and gullies that run everywhere from the highest point 1000 ft above sea level down to the coast. Each of these ravines, canyons have quite a lot of natural scrub that would be well above human height and I believe would hide a hominid quite easily, even during daytime. There are over 700 caves and still many unexplored...? NW Cape is over 90,000 hectares which when you look from above and see only one road around the edge and only a couple that venture inland. Theres no doubt theres a lot of unexplored land, caves, canyons etc. The hairy one IMO would gracefully meander across vast amounts of land at night with ease and especially with no-one around bothering them.
Thanks for the reports Ant.
Cheers
Welly

You just make ( plain ) pardon the pun , good common sense it is a vast mostly uninhabitated remote part of the planet I think that these creatures have adapted quite well to climatic and environmental changes and could live quite well even flourish under such conditions , not so different to the more arid parts of QLD & NSW and there are plenty of reports from these regions . !!!!

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
This happened on the weeekend.
Me and my friends including my brother went camping down in Collie, which is about 2.30 hours south of Perth. The area is huge with national parks forrests and rivers. We found a track off the main road which led into the bush and to a large river which we found a nice spot to camp. Went for a fish and we had a few drinks and went to bed. My friend kept saying he thought he saw a person standing further down on the riverbank river bank, we all looked but there was nothing there, it was dark and the area was isolated, no one else was around. During the night i got up about twice due to a noise in the bush which i have no idea what it was but it didnt really bother me. Anyway. The next morning my borther told us all that at about 1 in the morning he was woken up by a loud banging noise. He described it as 5 distinct knocks like something was banging wood against a tree. He said nature was calling but he was too scared to get out of his swag.
just thought id share.
cheers

Hi Brian
The track runs of the Coalfield Highway, about 9-10kms before you reach collie. Just look for a river you can see while driving and there are tracks that you can drive on around the river. There are many tracks to explore.
Yes, it flows out of wellington dam hard not to miss when driving in/out of collie. The river had alot of marron, didnt get any fish but there are trout, perch and redfin just need a freshwater license.
The whole area is very 'squatchy'.
cheers

Great thanks cadburyyowie, I will try and get down there for a look around and flick a lure around a bit doing my own thing and hopefully get my first sighting or experience.
I also might check out the Mundaring area on my way through.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
Hi i am in the Gidgegannup area and i have had several experiences just on a short note this includes:
1. Tree knocking
2. Snapping from 8+F mark and one measured 12+
3. Weird Screams over the valley (as someone mentioned at the start of the thread)
4 . A weird urine, scat, Off meat , Putrid smell which has occurred on a few occasions.
Yowies im not sure about if they do exist i will have to see it as plain day but speculating is good too?
I have spoken to some people in the area about the idea and most people do is um and ah but however
another interesting thing is that people i have talked to claim of Being worried about big cats and not yowies?
I have friends who live out near wannaroo(dizzy Lamb) or (cahoona park) the old safari and actually used to hear the lions growling in the afternoons
when it was feeding time. But apparently there is a shoddy story behind it something to do between
the owner of the Safari and one of the Lion carers not too sure would like to hear input on both matters
Regards,
your pal JohnDeere

Hey JohnDeere , just so you know , we do have pictures and audio .johndeere wrote:

Here is a link to my website so you can hear the vocalisations . http://www.farsouthcoasthominoidevidence.org/audio.html
An investigation was done at the site of the pictures and human looking hair samples were found in the exact location the figure is standing . This place is well off the beaten track and the chances of a human being in that exact location although not impossible would be astronomical .
Here is a link to the investigation . The pictures were received and acknowledged by the National Museum and could not be identified .

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
That's some neat footage there Rusty, i also recently have been doing some research seems there is a lot of authenticity in regards to them being of existence
more so than i thought. I think my opinion has changed entirely even so i am planning on doing a stakeout soon but need to get some gear together and pick a location.
I was thinking of Trekking into Kangaroo Gully of Brookton highway as a customer of mine recently told me that when he was working with the water corp many years
ago he and a few other workers had witnessed a 10-11 Foot Gorilla like creature cross the gully and head back into the bush making a hell of a noise as it continued.
There were 4-5 guys working none of them spoke about it until many years later at a reunion. In regards to the experiences at my property im not to certain i wanna grab
a flashlight and start walking around the property at 2am i have good thing with the neighbors bit worried they might think john's lost it you know. But i plan to grab
a mate and try and head out sometime in the next coming weeks if anyone can fill in on potential spots that would be awesome.
Regards,
John

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
Hey John , Murray river looks good too .
A walk along the track/trail at night is a good way to get their attention . Chasing them is not a good idea , they do get cranky .
They will approach a campsite at night to peek at the humans if it's in a reasonably remote area although you may not hear them .
Please be careful .
