Trip anyone?

Unread post by deadpool »

I've made this post a sticky, because of all the interest - extra info coming in all the time.

Anyone around the Brisbane-ish area up for a bushwalk in the next month or so? I was just thinking about hitting the bush for a few hours around dusk.

North Pine Dam seems interesting, or Ormeau - or any other locations people can think of around there.

Either way, anyone want to come?

Am at Brookfield deadpool and interested in going. Would like to test some equipment in the field at night.

You will get more hits to this thread if you re-name it "Any ladies up for a yowie hunt?"

Damnit! I should have realised! Damn my lack of non-social skills!

I'm going to leave this open for a week, see how many people want in, once its confirmed we'll organise a time, place, etc.

My brother said he would proably come too.

How about we get a google map of the place and make a pattern of 100m grids over the area. We can split up into 2 groups and check out a lot more area that way. We can stay in touch with walkies if one group needs help or finds something interesting for the rest of the group and with a grid map, can have coordinates to meet the group in. We would have to do this visual estimation style - i dont have a GPS yet.

I said yet...

Hi Alex,

I sent you an email with Google Earth images showing you three different locations.

Hope this helps.

Anonimust is in for the trip as well - he's locked himself out of his account at the moment...

So where are we thinking for it? I've been wanting to get into some of the forestry areas up around Beerwah if anyone's got a suggestion...?

I am interested in North Pine Dam. Reports, water source and Yowie evidence suggests we might have good luck finding something.

Dean, the maps are perfect. You're a legend. Thanks for the advice too. We'll come back with something, for sure.

On the subject of GPS... if my phone behaves itself we'll have GPS.

I have some maps now, and crude GPS. Your brother is more than welcome to come, as I said - more the merrier.

Reading has made me think though - i'd need more of a "professionals" point of view on this one - where would be the best place to go where our hairy friends won't, well - try and tear us apart. :|

I'm thinking along the lines of evidence: Kilkivan, Ormeau or Springbrook.

You got walkie talkies too deadpool? One each would be nice. Can you email me the maps...i think we should plan this well and come back to the forum with a nice report with pictures and if need be a youtube post of evidence if its good enough.

No reason to be scared, its just a big missing link monkey...hmm hang on, little monkeys scare me....yu yu yu you go first!

Before we get to the stage of linking dates with locations can we move the discussion to a group email or something?

Not to be harsh, but I'm not too keen on some anonymous lurker reading this thread and any details and then deciding to take the p***...

As already said, we'll post a report back afterwards, and we can hit up those more experienced via PM for any advice in the meantime.

You guys got Windows Messenger? If so, PM me your addresses & we can talk about it there.

Walkies? Nah man - I have no gear along those lines. Might be able to get some, but they'd be cheap ones. However I do have a very good sound recorder. So, whatever we hear, everyone will.

Hmm. I can bring 2 Cobra 16km walkies, a bionic ear pulgged into a mini disk, a high definition camera on a steadycam and a spotlight that will leave your eyes in pain for 30 mins if you look at it for more than half a second. And my brother will be able to bring night vision and associated MP4 recording device.

I have about 5 hours worth of batteries for the HD camera. I don't like going out without a camera or audio device recording all the time. The time when we will need it is unexpected so its best to be ready for 'it' all the time.

Also in reply to forest guy. You are right. PM on messenger is best to make sure no lurkers come and disturb our scientific expedition.

So far we have at least 3 (4, 5?) confirmed people + equipment. Brilliant.

Expect some PM's about further information regarding the trip.

btw: Dean, if I remember correctly you posting once that they like Neil Diamond? - It gave me an idea.

Please don't age me any further Alex!

I would have been referring to any music being of interest to them. Again, the only issue with this is it will inhibit your hearing.

If you were to use music as an attractant, I would suggest placing the music by itself in a location and setting a wide perimiter of hidden people and see if anything comes through for a look.

Hahaha! Dean, you're only as old as you act. You're running through the bush after a big sodding ape. You have nothing to worry about age wise.

You read my mind though. Was thinking about using a small cheap portible radio or something in a clearish location - 100m spread and just wait to see if anything comes and changes the station.

You sod! You made me snort coffee out my nose. Hot coffee! Ow the pain!

Thats what its like though apparently. Soon as you hit their grounds... silence. I'm still thinking Kilkivan on this one & I have another person maybe for the trip. He's not too sure yet, but will let me know in the next day or so.

He's a believer, but - it's like he doesn't want to know too much (scared/ignorant?). I want to derail his track of thought about this.

Hey Deadpool and others,

Myself and a mate are actually heading to Springbrook this friday night. Just wandering if some of you were interested in coming along.

At least there would be two or three groups of pairs then.

Hopefully some of you can make it.

Hey redeye

Welcome to the forums

Well, what looked like a small party of people interested in a Yowie trip is becoming bigger by the moment.

You’ll need to hire a bus at this rate;

Good to see many people interested in the Yowie phenomenon.

Hey man, welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Springbrook, eh? Not a bad place to start actually.

Test run perhaps? See how it goes, then all of us combined could go somewhere else on an over nighter or something along those lines. Curious now - what got you interested in the Yowie?

Thanks guys, I'm sure I will.

I had an incident at a property I used to live at a few years ago. Although I have been interested in anything unusual for as long as I can remember.

I'd be keen after this to head out for an overnighter. We could try a few spots soon like Kilcoy, Glasshouse, Jimna etc. Although it might be getting to warm for Jimna now. Went to Ormeau not to long ago now, nothing happened. I think the amount of four wheel drives and bikes getting through there and the amount of development going on may be pushing whatever was there away.

My e-mail is [email protected] for those that do wanna come along. We can then arrange a time and meeting place.
