I've been pondering this for a couple of days, and wondered if anyone had any info to share on this:
I know we have a few ladies out there in AYR land who are actively involved in making regular expeditions into Yowie territories, some on a daily basis.
What I wondered was, could the agression tactics witnessed by people who have been stalked, vocalised at, charged, etc be attributed to the Yowie being male, and the human/s being male? Is this a 'bloke' thing, a testosterone tussle between two (or more) Alpha males?
How many female researchers and members of the public have been approached in this described manner? Are female humans approached in different ways i.e., in a 'gentler' manner? Less threatening manner?
I wondered also if a group of females would be seen as less of a threat than a group of blokes on an expedition situation. I've read that Yowies seem to be attracted to females (see Topender's post a while ago!), and I also wondered if having one or more ladies in a small group situation who are at the same stage of their monthly cycle (ovulation or menstruation) might form a powerful attractant for Mr Yowie. (EDIT: or just annoy Mrs Yowie - better looking competition?
This thought both interests and scares the daylights out of me, in a way, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this. I'd feel like a sacrificial lamb (well, mutton maybe!
Personally, I'd still like to have some fellas around for a number of reasons, but if any readers have anything to add to this topic, I think it would be very interesting from a scientific and behavioural viewpoint.
Kind regards,
Shazz
