In a continuation of a conversation I had with my uncle about a possible UFO sighting (see relevant forum) I asked him if he or anyone he knew had seen strange animals in their journeys.
He's a rugged sort who is both a fisherman and an outdoorsman. He has lived alone in the bush for long periods.
All I managed to get out of him before my parents interruptions steered the convo away (see other post) was that his mate who has a property out woop woop (west of cairns) would on occasion see thing's like cats but not cats walk across a dirt road on his property.
He struggled to say what he meant, he was trying to think of a name for them.
I was giving suggestions: Feral cats? No. Like a puma or mountain lion? No. Quolls? No.
He gave up trying to think under the previously mentioned pressures (Dad: "so what's so and so up to?")
It just gave me an unsettled feeling. People apparently see weird things and never think to mention them to anyone other than mates.
This guy was seeing things like cats but not cats nor any other identifiable creature and just went "Oh well".

Anyway, what i would like to ask is, if its at all possible you could speak to your uncle again & see what else he could describe it 'as'?

I don't have his contact details, he just passes through my parents place every now and again. I will try to get in contact with his sons, who live up North too.
There are already a few stories on this site about similar creatures though. Most notable are the stories about Black Mountain near Cooktown and the other one about the Army guys seeing a pig-cat thing that wasn't a pig, I think that was in the NT.

Yes, though I found mine on this site. I also found a dozen more references on rex gilroy's site just now.
