I'd been interested to know too! In the USA, AFAIK, no Bigfoot bones have ever been found that I know of....at least, no one has come forward and admitted it. (taz) (eek)

Interesting..I have not met many people who believe bones of animals from a small population base would be just lying around in a forest or bush setting..in the real world things aint that easy..
Show us all the hundreds of photos of the bones of koalas found in the bush...they are out there for sure...but most people will never see koala bones....
We find dinasour bones

"we"?..yes..scientists do..and the odd lucky punter..
Are most Dinosaur bones surface discoveries in bush or forests.???
Just to save you the inevitable heart palpitations..and save you repeating yourself..If you want hard evidence..you are in the wrong forums..we are all crazy and this is a fringe topic forum...good luck and welcome to the board!! (happy)

Mike

I have ponderd over this for some time , but it could be that given the historical accounts of the tendency for Yowies supposedly eating small children and people it would not be unrealistic to think that they might consume the coarpses of their own kind whence they become deceaced whether via natural causes or other therefore leaving no visual trace .

If we are to assume that going by the wild nature in which a yowie lives than they must not have a sense of culture or else we would be able to find burial sites and as a result bones , if they are as primitive as the majority expects than all of the caves along the Great Dividing Range should require closer attention to detail as it may be a case as in the traditions of past humans to lay to rest their dead in cave type environments , I know of many caves in my area but since I operate alone I have not been able to summon the gonads to explore them as yet , if that situation changes in the near future I will surely keep you posted .

Having been through large landholdings on three continents where animals are raised for a hopeful profit, I have to tell ya, not many bones of the predated animals were around. If you are looking for an animal from a small existing population and you don't know what it looks like, how can you identify bones after it's mostly decomposed?

I too question a lot of the lacks that occur in "Field Research" but the lack of a seletal mass is close to the bottom of the list. If any of the bipedal cryptoids we hear about are ever caught, my number one concern is the safety of the specimen, and the security of the area it's caught within.

The rest will kinda sorta get sorted along the way........ maybe

Now, THAT I agree with. I believe that there is definitely a government cover-up in the United States. But few believe that. My guess is fear of mass panic, and secondary to that, the timber industry, the oil and gas exploration industry, and the real estate developers--all surely being successfully lobbied. But YES, IMHO there is certainly a government cover-up, and therefore God help anybody who murders one. He'll get disappeared in a heartbeat, or at least the body will be expropriated and agents will visit the murderer and warn him to keep his mouth shut in the interest of "national security" or he will certainly get disappeared. IMO, killing a BF is murder and anybody who does so deserves exactly what they get. A**h*le murderers!!!! (2guns) (burnt up) (pure_evil)

Agreed as well about the cover up.

I somehow do not think any one could come close to hurting the big guy because:

a) A silver back Gorilla is said to be 10 times stronger than man.
b) Big Foot is said to be much taller than a silver back and stocker.
c) So just how much stronger is the Big Guy than your average man?

The Mt. St. Helens eruption, was reported to have also yielded some bodies that were spirited away in a cargo sling beneath a chopper. No report as to whether those bodies still had bones that were in our dimension
.

HI Doc;

Was this the same Volcano where snaps of UFOs were captured during the eruption?

Hey Al:

I would be most interested to read some of those "historical accounts of the Yowie supposedly eating small children and people." I have never heard of Bigfoot doing such a thing, and I find it real hard to believe that the Yowies do that. Where did you hear this, or from whom? Did you read about it? Maybe the source of such stories could be found on line, or such a book might be sold on Amazon? (I should search for this on line myself, but I can't think where to begin on Google--"Yowies eating people", perhaps?)

Of course, I defer to the Australians for knowledge of the Yowie, be it in field research or folklore, but I'd like to know the source of such historical accounts, as I had just re-read this thread and found your post of April 13. Guess I missed it the first time, and it almost caused me to fall out of my armchair! (taz) (confused) (cries) (scared)

Well, Al, these aboriginal legends, "Yuuri", etc. sound like they belong more in the realm of the paranormal to me, like our American ghost stories. Of course, I can't rule out ghosts and can't rule out a basis in reality for your aboriginal folklore.

I wonder if Dean, the Australian members, or any of the American members of AYR have heard of such Native American folklore regarding Bigfoot--if so, I'd like to know about it. E-ew! (confused) (eek)

sceptic;
Your post got me a bit more interested in why we do not find the bones. While wandering through a US based site I ran into some historical information that may help with your question. http://www.bigfootresearch.com/index.ph ... le&sid=157. Admittedly, this doesn't address Yowie bones directly, but I am sure other more qualified people in the forum would concurr with the "We get so much we toss a lot" or the "It doesn't fit with what I know so it can't be right" attitudes by many physical anthropology types. I'm certainly not the expert on this and will leave the conclusions to you and others. Or, as Dr Scream says, perhaps they bury them. Just a random thought.

"Giants, Cannibals and Monsters"? ARRGGGHHH! Say it isn't so! (thumb Down) (no brains) (taz) (eek) You could of talked all day and not said that.

NoPolys, that bone, or rather no-bone article is most interesting. I don't know what to think, but it does offer at least a little circumstantial evidence. And museums are notorious for just letting stuff lie in storage. Love the Grover Krantz quote. Thank you! (claps hands) (taz) (rad)

You're most welcome Ma'am, I have a great respect and fond memories of the Tx landscape. You're approach is always a gentle reminder to me to keep an open mind.

Does anyone have any idea where the unusually large bones they found near Taree ended up? I recall reading that they were unearthed in the early to mid 20th Century, and that "specialists" from Sydney came and took them away. Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyone?

G'day Guys,

I've been lurking on this site for yonks and thought I'd throw a few bobs worth into some of these interesting threads...

...The "no bones" argument is a pretty regular occurence when any discussion of the Yowie takes place.

All I can say from my own personal experience is that perhaps we need to be looking for smaller pieces of the skeleton :)

An example in point (and in no way related to the Yowie) is one time I was hunting out west. I shot a wild boar, took its jaw for a trophy, leaving the rest of the carcass in situ, my hunting mate advising the other pigs in the area would have a good feed overnight.

He was indeed correct, two days later we came back through that way with very little being left of the carcass, a few vertebrae and other bits and pieces, that was all. If we hadn't of known about the carcass being left there we probably wouldnt have twigged to it...

Besides the wild pig in the area there were also Dingo and Fox, these species managed to make short work of a decent sized carcass in a couple of days.

No bones, no real surprise really, the Oz bush is a bloody big place!!!

Cheers,

Rob.

The no bones subject is an interesting one, most if not all ancient tribes will deposit their dead in a secretive place, our own indigenous people have done this for eons; and even today i know of places that i frequent in parts of Arnhemland that have bones wrapped in paperbark and hidden in a rocky crevice ( i avoid going anywhere near them ), older aboriginal people who have confided in me with regards to the " ancient people " ( yowies) tell me that they also hide their dead, if the yowie can remain so well hidden in life, imagine how well they would hide their dead....remember these are very smart hominids

cheers

It's only going to take one bone. Finding it is the problem. Gigantopithecus a few teeth and a jaw...

You also need to remember that despite being scavenged, nature resumes everything at an alarming rate. The sheer volume of leave litter buries most things anyway.

I am in awe of how countless millions of animals die each year in the australian bush and how little is left of them to discover.

Just finding some bones in the bush is an exception to the rule, let alone bones of a Sasquatch or Yowie.

Great thread.

Further to everyone's point about scavengers and nature itself destroying bodies/bones in a matter of days, I remember a discussion on this "bones" topic regarding bigfoot elsewhere, and a point was raised that the skeletal remains of a chimpanzee had NEVER been found in the wild, now this is a known documented species and no bones of this creature have been found? this blew me away (I'm not sure this is a fact but it was presented as such in the argument).

Now it doesn't take a genius to figure that if we aren't stumbling over bones of a documented species, what chance do you think we have of stumbling over an undocumented species??

Having said this I am also of the opinion that if bones were found they would readily be attributed to a human, seeing as we would likely share a similar skeletal structure, so there are many factors that would work against yowie skeletons just turning up left right and center.

my 2cents anyway :)

I doubt that is true Sealo. Chimpanzee remains have been found often, it is in the fossil record where they seem to be scarce, as far as I know.

I think the OP makes a good point. It is an impossibility for a population of large creatures such as yowies to have evolved in/found their way to this continentint and continue to exist in any normal sort of biological sense, without leaving a trace (IMO). The arguments for such a thing happening are very thin to non existent themselves (also IMO). Things like big cats seems far more possible for other reasons (they are known to exist for starters and also in this continent, whether in captivity or otherwise), though Yowies would be an impossibility from any genuine scientific view.

Which isn't meant to imply that they are not there. I find whether they exist less of a mystery (due to experience), the how and why they exist is the completely mysterious part. They seem to exist despite science, rather than fitting in with any current view that science can understand or accept.

Hey Everyone!! Glad to have found this site, have been interested by all this stuff for as long as I remember. Having just gone through all the reports on here over the last few days I would remind people of the report from Oxley Island in the mouth of the manning river (I grew up in Wingham approx 10 k upstream) which says that in 1967 a farmer ploughed up several huge skeletons which were spirited away by the government when he reported them... so it would appear there are at least some reports of bones having been found!!.

edit.. (oops) good to see its already been mentioned.... !
