There have been quite a few new sightings in the past few Weeks. We hope to get some of them up for you soon.
Included in the reports, there are two great reports from Wauchope and Wingham.
The below report is from the Armidale Express a few days ago:
A Taree man reportedly sighted a Yowie at Dangar Falls erlier this Month.
Speaking to ‘The Express’ Newspaper on the grounds of anonymity, he said he had no doubts about the June 12 encounter – it was “definite sighting”.
“My son and I were leaving Armidale and decided to stop into Danger Falls,” he said. “We were walking down the path, towards the head of the falls, when something in the corner of my eyes caught my attention.”
He said the lush green bushland around the falls at this time of year made the shadowy creature stand out. Although he only saw the figure from behind, he was able to provide a description: “He was around 8 feet tall, with long draping arms and black in colour”, he said.
“ I have absolutely no doubt that it was a Yowie”.
He believes the creature was ‘stacking and throwing rocks’ at nearby children in the creek. Yowie sightings are not new to the area – the first dates back to July 1880. The Maitland Mercury and Hunter Valley River General Advertiser reported that several well known residents have seen an extraordinary creature in the bush....near the Grafton and Armidale Road. “The creature is described as about three feet and six inches in height, with a head like a diamond snake, hands like a Kangaroo and a body like a man’s, but dark and hairy”.
The legend of the Yowie is believed to lie in Aboriginal folklore, thought the term has more commonly been used to describe an unidentified Hominid said to lurk in the Australian wilderness.
The Yowie is said by some to be similar if not distantly related, to the fabled North American Bigfoot and Himalayan Yeti.
Co-Author of ‘The Yowie: In search of Australia’s Bigfoot’, Paul Cropper, said the Taree man who visited Armidale was an ‘excellent Yowie witness’. Mr. Cropper is seeking information from any other witnesses to this particular sighting, or local residents who may have had a Yowie encounter in the past.

Re: New sightings
Thanks Dean, I don't get the Armidale express so I didn't know about this sighting. It is very interesting. I have been to the falls about two years ago, might have to check it out again, when things settle down.
Thinking about going out today to my area depending on the rain as I don't want to get the camcorder wet. Keep you posted.
cheers Mr X

Re: New sightings
Seriously? Wauchope? Well, you never dream in your own backyard... got an details yet?
When I was much younger, I stayed at a friend's house in Pappinbarra, and remember being startled by an eerie, echoing howl in the night. She told me it was just a dingo. Drove to Armidale tonight and was reflecting on that night as I drove through the mountains, wondering who was out there. Turns out there's someone about!

Re: New sightings
I am very envious of people that live in these hot spots, Tasmania is very lame.
Very nice dense bush lands in those parts of NSW. It makes me wish I was still living in NSW.
Keep up the good work Dean.

Re: New sightings
The stacking rocks part, as well as throwing them interests me. Great read.
