..that having your graphics card die on you can be a good thing?
So I boot up my PC only to find i'm viewing the screen in 640x480 at 4bit color. For those who remember Windows 3.11 .. looked a bit like that, only worse. My graphics card had snuffed it. So, I head down to my local to think "what can I do about this situation". Three drinks later, it hits me "perfect time to upgrade!" - so I went out & got myself a 1GB nVidia 9500GT. I just have to say one thing. Wow. Only set me back $130 and, for where I am? Thats cheap. So, $130 later, installing the card, I open up the PC case to find.. dust. a lot of it at that. So I clean it all out, put the new card in. Boot up my system. Its now going faster, prettier and overall better than usual.
Skip to the end: get a 1GB nVidia 9500GT.

Re: did you know..
Hey Alex
Yeah technology is growing so fast now especially with computers, what used to be a $600-800 graphics card can now be picked up relatively cheap. You can still probably pick up an awesome graphics card for a hefty price, but is it worth it seeing as technology grows so fast it will be out dated in six months time. Probably best picking up a cheap one.
I may think of upgrading myself in the near future thanks for your suggestion.

Re: did you know..
Its an entry level card (meaning one of the first of the GeForce 9 series) - just for casual gamers, etc etc. BUT.. it comes with HDMI output, so you can hook it up to a HD monitor and enjoy the wonders that is 1080i
