Looking for people for Blue Mountains treks

Unread post by Shroom Smurf »

Hey guys,

my first post on here so I guess some form of an introduction is in order (uh uh)

Well I live in the Blue Mountains and around 10 years ago I had my first encounter with what I believe was a yowie.
Some things that stood out from the experience was the intense feeling of fear I felt before I even seen or heard our hairy friend. Second would be the speed it took off at and how it could sprint on a slope that I could barely walk upright on.... and thirdly was the sound of the trees it was snapping and it pelted through the bush.

Since then I have had a few possible encounters mostly at night that include hearing something big running through the bush around 4 meters or so away from me at Megalong Valley (defiantly NOT a roo). Found some very small child like footprints (looked like around a 6 or 7 year old's foot) also at Megalong Valley in a VERY rugged area that took me & a mate around 2 hours of serious bush bashing to get to, hence why I found these prints rather strange as the chance of someone getting there barefoot let alone a young child would be very slim in my opinion.

Also found a unusual tree break at Hazelbrook and heard some rather frightning growls when I went for a lone trek in that area that same night.

Think I should also say that all of the above "encounters" minus the first visual one could has been anything, I'm not trying to say that they were encounters hence the word "possible" (cheesy)

Anyway...back to why I posted this in the first place... I am looking for some interested people to come on a few treks in these supposed "hot spots" around the Blue Mountains. Experience or having some kind of encounter isn't necessary , just a keen and curious attitude (thumb)

Look forward to seeing you guys out there!

Stay safe!

I'm keen. I have a 10 million candle power spotlight and a truck with high ground clearance. I've been to the blue mountains areas a few times in the last few years with mates but its been hard organising a day when we are all free lately so I am keen..

Hi lowie03,

Leave it with us. We shall organise organise something, as there are many like minded people that contact us requesting an Expedition in the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas.

We will work on this during the Week.

Particulars will be via email correspondence next Week.

Great idea. I'm keen, too. Give me enough notice and can fly up from Melb for the weekend.

Oh man, if only I could get time off work I will be on the first plane to Sydney dragging Topender with me.

I have got this feeling that Dean and your guys are in for one hell of a time, which may involve some
heart stopping moments with the big guy. Hopefully Dean will not get charged by the big guy and decide
to be friendly to you all.

Cannot shake this feeling I have lol.

Glad to assist with this. As you say Dean, "email correspondence". The weather here, as with other parts of the country, is very poor and should remain so for a long time.
