On rock-stacking - it seems to be a global tourism fad

The internet is full of tourism authorities and national parks the world over asking people to refrain from stacking stones, pebbles and rocks. I suggest we can discount the piles found where tourists go which one could argue is just about everywhere.

Just yesterday I hiked up a ridge that was burnt from a recent fire. I found a rock stack there only 3 rocks high with a fourth which had fallen off. Now this rock stack would have been in thick bush until the fire went through there. Now saying that who would climb up a ridge and stack 4 rocks on top of each other in thick bush that no one would see. It has me puzzled a bit. These are the only type of rock stacks I personally take notice of. Out of the ordinary ones. This is the link to the video I posted on my Youtube channel Australian Yowie. I have heard of rock stacks being called "rock cairns". Originally used by explorers as markers similarly to other posts I've read climbers use them as trail markers. However, if a stack or cairn is in the middle of nowhere similarly to the one Yowie Dan found IMO it would warrant futher investigation.

I can understand these stacks forming in popular areas...
