What is the best Bait

Straight up I know that our Rusty had / has some fury friends that love mango .
That fruit is a little hard to come by at this time of year, so what may be some acceptable alternatives to present as gifts eg cooked / BBQ meats or other sweet fruits perhaps?
All ideas considered as I want to trial some treats on my patch this weekend.

Hey AL , it's been a while .

Corn is a favourite . A bunch of us camped at the feeding site one night and "they" slipped in during the night and took the fresh corn kobs . There were other fruits there but it was left behind .

Thanks for that tip . I will definitely give that a go , Iam always amazed at just how secretive and elusive they can be .
No wonder clear and precise evidence has not been realised as yet .
No doubt people know what it is that they have witnessed but just that conclusive proof that will finally put this to bed !

Hi Al. Sweet corn, apples, walnuts, sweet melons, bananas are the usual suggestions. Sweet fresh fruit of good quality would be the go. Make sure you sample it yourself so you know its good and have something while you are leaving it in case they are watching. Good excuse for a snack too!

Maybe try a closed bag hanging on a branch that has to be opened to grab the food like a hemp or canvas bag type thing? Finding food taken and bag closed would be an interesting result.

Be careful if you are doing this on your property. Im sure they would appreciate the food but apparently feeding them could become problematic, especially when you stop. Ive seen that some people leave other gifts like wooden animal ornaments and woven things. Anything they may find interesting.

well the name says it all really !
I like the bag idea as it does prove that only a being with ample dexterity could access the treats within.
I remember a post from the past where one of the members maybe former now used a screw top container and had some luck with that.
I was going to try chocolate today , however I ate it all last night so they will just have to put up with whats on the menu Lol

I once left some whitmans peanut choc bars and they didnt take em and in fact threw them all over the place unopened but fruit was gone! Shot down my detractors "homeless bush people" theory to shreds unless of course whoever or whatever was taking the gifts was allergic to peanuts?

I think the bag thing is good too. Rules out marsupials. I only did this on one occasion. The fruit was taken (except for oranges) and reclosed with a bit of banana smeared on the handles like they had banana on hands when closing. It was very weird!

Gday Al , as everyone else has said corn on the cob , I have found it is also a pretty good gauge if its a possum or something a lot bigger ,
possums , roos etc will eat the corn but leave the cob , where as the big fellas and ladies take the cob and all

not to sound crass but from what ive read, the males are interested in the scents of human female hormones when they are at that certain time of the month.

Many claim they come around more often when that sort of thing is going on. probably young males looking for a suitor or mate. kinda gross but a potentially effective strategy might be planting a soiled item of clothing in view of a trail cam in hopes a curious male tries to investigate the clothing. there are many reports of sasquatch stealing women's clothes off of drying lines.

sasquatch in general but possibly more so the females are attracted and curious to the sound of children. playing a continuous recording of children playing while in
the woods or planted next to a trail cam might work to draw them in. i believe ive read somewhere apes generally seem to be more comfortable around women. perhaps recordings of soft or gentle speaking women?

I.M.H.O the best bait is yourself, just you, alone at night in an area with a rich history of sightings. These creatures are ambush predators that hunt at night or in the very small hours of pre-dawn, so that's the best time to put yourself in their domain. As the saying goes, "You don't find Yowies, Yowies find you" , Just be in the places suggestive of their presence, chances are they will know you are there and are tracking your movements.

If they take food thats left for them then hiding a tracking device in the food should be something to think about. Some are very small devices and a wild animal would scoff it down without noticing it like hiding a tablet in a bit of sausage for your dog.. after a few days track the device and see what you find..
A university had a tracking device on a liar birds ankle so a mate of mine caught the bird and took the device off and placed it in a cow c**p. That would of confused the uni students haha
