Unfortunately, it hasn't shaken up anyone. When the science community ignores a find like this, you can be certain that it's for good reason.Slats wrote: Wed Aug 15, 2018 1:50 pm Thanks for the links guys I am keen to read any papers that will be published about the discovery it will undoubtedly shake up the scientific community.

if these were genuinely an unknown branch of the 'human' family, the entire world would know about it by now.

"Science" although the basis for most facts can be very stubborn at new findings or approaching subjects that peers may frown upon.inthedark wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 1:36 pm Unfortunately, it hasn't shaken up anyone. I'm not sure why they would be, other than in cases where there is likely nothing to be gained by pursuit, and plenty to lose (like a career!). In a case like this one, just about ANY scientist would be very very keen to pursue it, if there was actually anything of interest in the find. That none have, tells us that there is little (to nil) chance it's what the guy thinks it is.Dion wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 1:52 pm"Science" although the basis for most facts can be very stubborn at new findings or approaching subjects that peers may frown upon.inthedark wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 1:36 pm Unfortunately, it hasn't shaken up anyone. I feel we need to be realistic about this stuff. Bonafide new discoveries don't make the light of day and get ignored by science. They just don't. If we find ourselves having to come up with conspiracy theories to try to explain science's disinterest, we're probably not approaching the matter with the right mindset. I say this with respect, and an interest in keeping this field 'clean'. Hope that makes sense.

Absolutely agree with your first sentence wholeheartedly, I think you will find most respected scientists wont touch this subject with a poking stick. Mainly because the unknown/non tangible freaks most scientific based organisations out. If you have a family and or a steady job, who is going to put that at risk to pursue a risky assault on being the first to discover a relic hominid or something which isn't that at all, but more dare I say..... abnormal paranormal or better put spiritual.inthedark wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 2:20 pm I'm not sure why they would be, other than in cases where there is likely nothing to be gained by pursuit, and plenty to lose (like a career!).....
Yes make perfect sense.inthedark wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 2:20 pm I feel we need to be realistic about this stuff. Bonafide new discoveries don't make the light of day and get ignored by science. It's interesting what the links are saying about it all. I don't think Gary Opit would be flippant about it. There has to be some legitimacy to it all.

Re: Non Homo Sapiens skulls found in Victoria.
It's not the potential for it to be something unknown, really. The unknown is exactly what science tries to 'know', after all! The problem is that there is nothing to indicate that it is something unknown. And there really isn't anything like 'fear of the unknown' involved, but I suspect we elect to believe that, as a means of avoiding the confronting reality that we might be slightly delusionalDion wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 2:41 pm ]

As regards the 'paranormal' and/or 'spiritual', these are the province of myth and religion, not science. It's a mistake to regard these things as of any interest whatsoever to science. That's a bit like saying that plumbers should take a professional interest in hairdressing

With the skull narrowing so much behind the "sockets" I cant see the eye balls being rotative.paulmcleod67 wrote: Thu Aug 16, 2018 4:11 pm download/file.php?id=6222&mode=view
