Re: What IS Sasquatch?
Interesting..heres my 2 cents worth.
1. Sasquatch have been here since day 1 i believe.
2. Maybe the military heard about these creatures.
3. Tried catching them, maybe had some luck maybe not.
4. If they had no luck invented something that resembles Sasquatch
5. Then tried to Breed them for military use.
6. Seems to be more in the us then other places.
7. Always seen near military Training areas.
8. When seen near Military Bases are they escaping or just catching up with Mum or Dad who is being held.

Like you i personally believe that they've always been here. And native Americans and Aboriginals say the same thing.
I'm reminded of the account of a chinese general during one of the ancient dynasties who's legion of men camped for a few days at one location and observed a clan of yaren.
Personally i believe they are a hominid that arrived via seperate genetics than human lines or at some point mingled with human lines.
I honestly dont think the military or govt. has much of anything to do with them. Maybe cover-up their existence, but i dont think there's some hybrid that came from some lab. And most often they aren't seen near military bases exclusively. Most cases are from all sorts of places from suburban areas to remote wilderness. They're seen all around the planet not just the usa.
As far as the animals being too stealthy or sneaky for the military to find thats hogwash. If they sent some boys out to kill or capture the animals it would be done pretty quickly. I have a few friends that have served in some advanced military units (SEAL 1 & 5, 10th US Army SF Group, MARSOC) capturing or tracking a sasquatch is well within their abilities. In real life even the creature the Predator would have lasted no more than a few minutes against a team of those guys.

Re: What IS Sasquatch?
Nice work, Wolf. Entertaining as usual. Yeah… the military experiment theory as a starting point for Bigfoot/Yowies doesn’t work as we have hairymen sightings dating back more than 220 years to the first settlers in Botany Bay. And long before that comes reports from the indigenous people of both continents.
Mind you, modern science and the armed forces, particularly in the good ol’ US of A, could now be involved in secret genetic experiments to build a ‘super soldier’. Anything is possible! Who really knows… there may already be a Squatch in their possession. However, in my opinion, they are more likely to be building super intelligent and weaponised robot warriors out of hi-tech composite materials. Or even super strong synthetic flesh and bones! No doubt that’s the way of the future. Look at aircraft. A drone landed on the runway at the Avalon Airshow in Australia this weekend... piloted by some guy back in the States! The electronic advancements are truely amazing.
I had to smile when bassplyr brought up Predator. This Arnie classic goes down as one of my all time favourite movies. Definitely the best Sci Fi. The sequels never managed to have the impact of that riveting original.
There is little doubt that the crack special ops guys could find and take down a Bigfoot. However, to suggest they could do it easy against a hypothetical alien foe that may have technology thousands or even millions of years ahead of us is to me, stretching a very long bow! Warfare is all about technology and I would always put money on the most advanced side winning. If they had the ability of interstellar travel to get here, they would have all the advantages!

Re: What IS Sasquatch?
I have no idea what they are, I just think they're there. I don't think anyone really knows precisely what they are. Too many people over too long a span of time have seen them for this to be a myth or a hoax. I know that evidence isn't the same as proof, but there's a lot of evidence for these things.
We just don't know as much as we think we do about a lot of things, the natural world being chief among those things we're largely ignorant about.

Re: What IS Sasquatch?
While we are all guessing, my guess is gigantopithecus remnant populations, supposedly going extinct 100,000 years ago but maybe not.
