I am down Wanneroo way. The Lions use to roar up at dizzyland park way way way back in the day as it was a safari park. If there was lions around im sure one would be spotted, they aint gonna hide like our hairy friends. I have done a fair bit of research over the 14 years i have been into this. I am happy to come up and help, look around, what ever you need? I do not believe in the hairy guys in W.A myself. To hot, not enough water. But i could be wrong. Let me know if ya interested in some help.

Sorry for the late reply! Been meaning to get back to this site..
Pretty much near the area MattyB71 is talking about in the Kalamunda national park. There is a largish damn there the locals call Pipe head dam that has water all year round. Its official name is the Lower Helena catchment dam I think. Heard shrieks or screams around here. All the other areas (besides Serpintine) are bordering the valleys in this general area. Darlington bushland (large rock thrown which hit a tree high up and hit the ground with a thud), and Glen Forrest bushland, which is the area of my first account on this forum. You take Hardy road to the end, then follow the bush track until you reach a grass clearing.
There is plenty of bush in Perth and bugger all people in there. There are a heap of dams..you got Pipe head dam I mentioned, Mundaring (huge), Bickley and more. Plus springs around the place. Like I mentioned in a previous post, the activity is mostly in the cooler months so I would imagine they might migrate. Who knows, but its a magic pocket of Perth right there.
I live right near the Kalamunda National park now. Mountain bike there all the time. Love it.

Hi Glenn087
Could meet up during the day and show the area first, then look at camping out. PM details etc and can sort something out if you want.
I'm busy with work at the moment but by time winter sets in I should be good!

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
Been a long time since I have been back to the forum but finally found the footprints on my computer that I said I would post up. A few years later! lol
I'm not saying they are 100 percent Yowie prints, but they were very strange and I followed them for ages. This is after some really heavy rain we had in Perth and the fact that they all were not completely washed out makes me think they were made toward the end of the heavy rain. Who knows.. but I followed them for a few km's down the track where they would disappear..completely washed out and then appear again.
What I found strange at the time was that they appeared as if whatever it was, was walking in a straight line. As in one foot inline with the next foot. Like you would walk on a tight rope sort of thing. I googled it and found something on the Never Finding Bigfoot site about how Bigfoot have been known to walk this way.
Also worth noting is that while I was following the footprints, I noticed an interesting crop of granite boulders off to the side. Something about them got me curious so I climbed over this pipeline (Beelu Nat. Park), and headed into the tall thick scrub. Just after I broke through the scrub, a small rock landed near me. So I froze.. but then decided to keep heading to the boulders.. then as soon as I started walking again..another rock around the same size landed near me. After that I just turned around and headed straight back.
Anyway, maybe someone has an idea of what the prints could be?

3 more pics that wouldn't fit on the last post.. I have more and video footage of them, but these pics are the clearest I think.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
I'm going to relate a friend's experience, or first experience, in the mountains north east of Perth, when he was about 19 or so (He's late 40's now, so that'll give you an idea of the time frame).
He had accompanied his father, to collect firewood from up in the hills, and they had commenced collecting some timber, when they both heard a disturbance in the bush in the valley beside the hills they were on, on the face directly above the hullabaloo. My friend stated they both saw the tree tops starting to thrash about, and whatever was making them do this, was advancing through the bush towards them, because he said they could both see the progression of the tree movement moving as whatever it was got closer. Then they heard a Godalmighty roaring vocalisation that stopped them in their tracks, and his father said "Let's go" and they hurried back to their ute. Perhaps oddly, they never spoke to each other in the car as to what they had heard or seen, but he said they were both fairly rattled, and it took a lot to rattle his father, who was a bushie-type who lived rough for decades out of choice, and who knew every Aussie animal cry, footprint and habitat. It was odd to my friend, but he didn't push the issue and they never spoke of it again.
I also posted another thread some months back about an encounter my friend had with something he can't explain, while metal detecting near a watercourse in the outer suburbs of Perth. I'll try to find it and post it here. He thought it was a person saying "GO!" with an immensely deep and powerful grunted intonation, but thinks now it wasn't an English word that was uttered, and it definitely wasn't a person according to him. As a result, this go-anywhere-any-time-of-day-or-night to detect guy swore off night detecting forever after his experience.

Great write up of that second account Shazz. The first thing I did was look at the map to see if it backs on to bush land and it certainly does. The fact that he could feel the sound in his chest and that utter fear points to something more than a kangaroo or animal. I've heard the screaming before and it scatters your brain into a million pieces. I'd image the sound your friend heard would be the same and I wouldn't stick around!
Do you know the location of the first account you posted above? I've experienced the tree's shaking before in Darlington here in the hills. I was night walking in the bush with my partner years back when something started violently shaking a group of small tree's or large saplings not too far away. Was a still night. The hills here have a bit of magic to them it seems.

Thanks, Yowiebrother.
He still won't go out at night, it certainly rustled his jimmies.
As to the first encounter, he did tell me, but I've lost my notes, as I wasn't here at the time of the telling, but I'll report back once I talk to him again.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
This is my first posting on this forum and when I stumbled over the site I recalled a couple of instances that left me questioning what I had seen and felt, a bit about me I am 59 years old and have been interested in the bush my whole life, spending eight years in the regular army and a large part of that time in the bush from north Queensland to Victoria, and in later years I have spent a lot of time in the bush as a prospector and detectorist in Western Australia and still do regular prospecting trips in the winter months now, so I am not new to the bush and I am comfortable even when alone in the bush as I have done many trips on my own for weeks on end into remote areas.
Although I have heard and seen things in the bush that have left me questioning my own sight and feelings the one instance that really got me confused was only a couple of years ago in the goldfields between Cue and Meekatharra WA, while camped up with some friends in an area called Nannine a mate and I decided to walk up a large slope as we could see an outcrop of quartz up there from the camp, it was a large hill and the area was very hilly in general and fairly scrubby as well, as we were walking up the hill we were discussing the geology and looking at the ground for prospective spots possibly worth detecting, a short time later while doing this I ended up about 100 mtrs ahead of my mate and reached the summit of the hill first, I was looking at the ground and was pretty much focused on the quartz outcrop as I neared the top as I crested the hill I looked down into the gap between this hill and the next I spotted to my utter surprise something walking upright about 100 mtrs away, it was walking in a slow ambling manner and away to the left of where I was standing, I immediately thought it was my mate and wondered if he had rounded the hill further down, but I then realised that it was hair covered and was a peculiar dark brown colour with a curious greenish tinge to it, it went out of sight into the scrub around the side of the hill, and it was then as I looked around to the right I saw another creature the same colour but a little smaller rounding the other side of the hill into the scrub as well.
I immediately looked about to be sure what I had seen was not my mate, it was a bit confusing as I was questioning what I had seen in my mind, my mate came up the hill and I commented to him that I had seen someone walking down to the left on the other side of the hill and into the trees, and then I had seen the back of someone dissapearing around the other end of the hill in the same manner and at first I had thought it was him, he said he had not been on the other side of the hill and was wondering what I was talking about as he had not seen anybody and was still just coming up the hill to where I was standing.
We wandered back down to the camp and didn't really talk about it anymore after that, and I was still questioning what i had seen and just decided to keep it to myself, I related the story to my wife who is quite open minded to such things and she said that I had obviously seen something that did not fit in with the norm of the creatures that I usually see in the bush as over the years I have had many encounters with dogs, kangroos, pigs and so on so I am familiar with the way they look and so on, the thing that stuck in my mind the most was the upright ambling gate of the creatures and the odd green hue to the fur on them as I had never seen anything with that colour fur before, for the rest of the time we were there I was hoping to get another sighting of them but as we use quad bikes sometimes the noise tends to scare most of the wildlife away anyway, but I did have the feeling of being watched from time to time when sitting around the camp.

Hey Dirtfisher, nice to meet another fellow detectorist here.
I've always said that people who spend a lot of time in quiet activities in the bush, are more likely to notice something odd, and it seems that that's exactly what you have done. I have also wondered how many of my detecting buddies have seen something they cannot easily explain away, but who aren't game to speak up. I relayed my friend's experience for that reason, but I'm super glad to have seen you share your experience.
Chance sightings are all most of us are likely to experience, I think. Do you think you went totally unobserved?

Excellent account DirtFIsher
The Green tinge/hue is interesting I have never heard that being described before, would you describe that as being on the hair/fur or around the creature's like an Aura of sorts?

Yes, I wondered this too.
If they are living in a moist, humid, warm climate, could it be that they have a symbiotic algae growing on their coats, much as with the sloth?

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
It was the changing colour of the fur that threw me at the time, as the creatures moved the fur changed from brown to a greenish brown, it could be that it was only the light doing this or maybe thats why they are not easily spotted as they may be able to change their colour to match the surrounding much like an octopus does, and what i possibly saw was the colour of the rock and surrounding ground on their fur and then the shift in colour to a greenish hue as they entered the tree line, I was looking at them from above but had I been looking straight ahead at them maybe I would not have seen them at all, the colour change might occur with them when they are scared or they think they have been seen? I have no idea but I saw what I saw and have no other explanation for it.
A quick note about the area where I saw this, some years before friends spotted what they thought was a lion chasing down a herd of goats, later they described it as more like a cougar, they were very shaken by the experience, the animal caught and killed a kid goat and when they persued it they found the goats carcass in a low tree, it was retrieved and the carcass skinned, I saw the pelt and it had bite marks completely around the middle from one side to the other, far too big a bite for a dog, and scratch marks as well, as far as I know this guy still has the skin as he was going to tan it.

Hey Dirtfisher
My grey cat when he stands in dry , brown grass or in the shadows of foliage his fur seems to take on or reflect the colour of the surroundings.
His natural camoflage is a brilliant weapon in his hunting arsenal.
Perhaps this is what's happening in this instance, with my cat it's more evident when he is in cover but even when he is crossing the farm paddock he kind of blends into the scene ????

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
After watching the "Michaels Account" interview I thought that I might share another story with you that happened to myself and a friend of mine back in about 1974, something that Michael said struck a cord with me and summed up precisely what happened to us one night, although we did not see or hear anything there was no mistaking that sense of dread and sickening feeling you get when you know you are being watched or stalked by something.
I lived in Mandurah at the time and my friends and I would often ride our dirt bikes in the bush at night along the limestone tracks just out of town heading towards Rockingham, on one track leading off to the right just out of town there was an old limestone quarry there that we used to mess about in at times, one night when our other friends were busy my friend George and I decided we would go out on my bike 2 up and have a burn about the place, no lights on the old yamaha so as the moon was full we decided we were good to go as the limestone tracks were easily followed.
After some time of going around the tracks and quarry we decided to down one of the tracks that headed back towards the Pinjarra end of town, the area is now called Greenfields I think, anyway as I lived at that end of old mandurah we thought we could head from there back to my place as we had become bored with it, we decided to stop and have a smoke and parked up just off the track, we both lit up and george sat on the bike while I walked into the bush to relieve myself, within a minute or so I had the most awful sense of dread come over me, the air seemed to turn cold and as I nervously looked about and finished what I was doing, the sense of dread and of being watched was unmistakable and whatever it was was not wanting us there.
I casually turned and walked back not wanting to appear a wimp for no reason but I was ready primed to run away, heading over to the bike only to see george who was by this time standing upright and looking freaked out, head going from side to side looking into the surrounding bush, without the exchange of a word between us george said lets get the f... out of here, he had felt it too and was almost in a state of near panic, I flew onto the bike and kicked it over like crazy revving motor hoping to scare off whatever was there, we took off back the way we had come and headed for town, all the time thinking and feeling as though whatever it was was pursuing us through the bush, usually we would get to the outskirts of town and turn the bike off and push it along the road to home, but no this night we roared all along the roads and into the back yard of my house dumping the bike in the back yard and bolting inside.
My mum freaked out from all the noise of a dirt bike flying into the yard in the night and us rampaging into the house, we told her what had happened and she later said that we both looked visibly frightened, later relating the story to our other mates who had been out there many times with us doing the same thing in the night, we copped all sorts of c**p from them for being sooks but neither of us ever went out night riding again, the other part of the story is that for some weeks after that we had a recurring issue of something violently shaking the back door of our house much to the alarm of my family and of course me and george who still thought that whatever it was it was still after us and wanted to be sure we never went back, that certainly worked on us.
Talking it over between us in later years we both agreed that we both at the same time had the unmistakable feeling of dread and of being warned to get out of there by something, even though we could not see it its presence was undeniable and as real as it gets, my friend is now deceased but even many years later when we would meet up we still recounted that night and realized that we had upset something and it was making sure we would not be back, still makes the hair on my neck stand up when I recall that night.

Re: Yowies Perth/ WA area
The latest W.A. Sighting was between Meckering and Dowrin. A couple driving at 2am with high beam and spotlights drive past a large Yowie standing at least 7 - 8ft tall, looking into a paddock containing sheep.
